Kindle Fire HD vs iPad Mini.....Help me decide

I would go with the Mini, higher price notwithstanding.

I have the "original" Fire and while the screen is gorgeous and it is great for meda consumption, I find it to be rather "buggy". I am a major Amazon fan and my family owns a number of Kindle e-readers. But I was underwhelmed with the Fire. I would hope the new version has improved, but I'm not biting this time.

We own many Apple products as well and love them. We pre-ordered a Mini and hope to receive it this week. I think it will be great for travel (lighter). I use our iPad 3 constantly and always travel with it. I plan to bring the Mini on our upcoming WDW trip and am excited to see how that works out.

For 6 & 8 year olds? I'd go with the Fire.

My husband is a crazy techie guy and he was considering upgrading from the Kindle Fire to the IPad mini, but he said it's not really going to be any better other than the app store. he's betting that with all the other tablets going HD this year that in 6 months to a year Ipad mini will come out with a better screen and better specs overall.
