Hi everyone, I am DD6's homeroom mom (kindergarten). Their class, as well as the two others are putting on a year end production. Just got the info today regarding "casting", etc and we were asked for any suggestions for easy/inexpensive costumes. Play is farm animal related so we basically need ideas for ducks, sheep, pigs, mules, and chicks. DD's teacher was thinking some sort of hat or visor. Checked Oriental Trading and didn't find the right "mix" of animals. Anyone have any ideas of other places to check or other costume ideas? Just want to keep it simple, especially when dealing with 75 5/6 yr olds!

TIA for any help.

I believe I've seen foam visors in bright colors at Michael's and ACMoore. Then you can use the largest googly eyes and foam shapes for ears, etc.

And with the sheep, you can use cotton balls.

Then the kids can wear clothing that coodinates with their headpiece.

Could you just have them wear solid color sweatpants and sweatshirts which would coordinate to their animal, grey for mule, yellow for duck, pink for pig, etc. Then pin on a coordinating tail and have them make animal masks.

just make headpieces!...so easy........
for a horse....use a strip pf brown construction paper, measure head size, staple strip to fit head size and staple on small pointed folded horse-like ears

for sheep....do the same, just add cotton balls to headband and ears.

the headbands sip over heads above kids real ears so their actual ears help keep headband on KWIM

happy stapling.............

we use paper bags for body costumes too, works great but us rustly noisy on stage:rotfl:

Ducks wear white clothes with orange feet and bill
Chicks wear yellow clothes with a yellow bill
Sheep wear grey with head bands with gray ears attatched
Pigs wear pink clothes with dixie cup noses and coat hanger (covered with pink cloth) tails and headband ears.
Mules wear brown with yarn manes and headband ears.

Also horses (brown or black) cows (white with big black spots safty pinned on) and a dog and cat they can be any color.

White clothes can be dyed the right color but really any clothes will work it's really the headband ears, and the duck/chick bills that make up the costumes.

Even Jeans or tan pants with the right colored t shirlt will work.

Thanks for the great ideas, anymore? If anyone has or knows where I could see any pics, that would be wonderful. (I am a bit challenged in the creativity category)
