Kindergarten graduation gift (5 yr. old boy) HELP!

It's summer. He'll love anything outdoorsy.

You can get a big foam frisbie type thing at Target for about $10. They also have lots of other stuff: croquet and a variety of boxed outdoor games.

Or, if he's the indoors type, anything b K'nex is great-- they use the imagination and they're labeled by age. (Our teenage babysitter asked for the humongous set one Christmas after playing with our small sets.)

On the book theme, look at "The Lot at the End of the Block" by Kevin Lewis. It's about construction, the rhyme and meter are great, and my son loved it at that age.

How about a watch? I bought them for my kids at that age. Target sells great kids' Timex watches. These watches are made for kids just learning to tell time. The ones at Target are similar to this and come in both boy and girl styles. I don't think I paid more than 15.00 for any of them.

I'm with the "no gift" minority. It's kindergarten! Heck, we won't be buying our 8th grader a "graduation" gift... I think it's a bad precedent to set, giving gifts as kids go from grade to grade in school!

Now they have preschool, kindergarten, 6th grade, 8the grade commencement!

I agree how about just saying "good job"! Now and days kids execpt Gifts for every thing.

I'm with the no-gift crowd. DD will be in k5 next year and I don't expect her to receive gifts at her graduation. Just a fun, cute time! If you feel you must, the sand bucket idea sounds great! But they probably don't expect it. They'll just be glad you're there, I'm sure.

Go to your local Dollar Tree (if you have one near you). You can find great workbooks for different grade levels (I'd go with 1st grade level) , Disney themed pencils, erasers etc... They also have graduation themed gift bags. You can put together a nice little gift for less then $10. If he is going to be home with mom for the summer she can have him work in the books to help keep him on track for 1st grade :)
