Kinder Eggs

...Just watching a show called QI (like a comedy quiz show with facts and stuff - QI stands for Quite Intelligent and is hosted by Stephen Fry) ...

Just as an aside, I'm a big fan of this show and QI doesn't stand for Quite Intelligent it stands for "Quite Interesting".

The premise of the show is that points are given for interesting answers or anecdotes and points are deducted for obvious answers (which are almost always incorrect).

As an example they asked how many presidents of the United States of America there had been and the answer given was 44 but this was said to be wrong due to the fact that there was a president (Grover Cleveland) that served twice and was given a new number for the second term as it was not consecutive (22nd and 24th president). The answer was based on this information was 43 not 44.

Just thought you might find that "Quite Interesting"... :)

In Australia we can also purchase eggs that are the same size as Kinder Suprise eggs but have either Disney Princess toys or Winnie the Pooh toys in them. I assume they can also be purchased in the UK or Canada.

We certainly can buy them in Canada, as well as chocolate eggs that have NHL hockey team helmets in them! Go figure:lmao:

Ah, but you see, our laws don't care about most. Because there is just ONE person out there that could potentially eat this thing like its a Cadbury Creme Egg, our government assumes that we are all stupid.

This is why we have microwave ovens that have warnings not to put small pets inside, heavy objects that say not to drop on your foot, etc...

actually, there are warnings not to put pets in microwaves and not to put nails in your mouth because of liability suits...

a nail company i know was actually sued 40 years ago...
a construction worker was putting up panelling on a wall...
he held the nails in his mouth while he worked...
he swallowed one..
then sued the company...since the box did not say, "do not put nails in mouth"...
i don't remember if he won or not..
but the fact that he even could sue is reason enough...

and that is why that company (and possibly others, though i haven't checked the boxes) puts on the side of its box (along with other warnings) "do not put nails in mouth"

Really! My son would *love* to have one of those in his easter basket. Too bad they're not available here!

we have kinder eggs here..
i used to buy them for the kids when they were little...
but i like the regular kinder chocolate better - the chocolate with the white filling..

European kids are smarter?
Better risk takers?

Americans are more likely to sue somebody.

My kids love these and DH always brings them back from trips. They haven't once eaten anything but the thin chocolate layer. I do think some of those little buggers are hard to put together though. The can be a pain if you don't have a translator!

They sell the kinder eggs here during the Christmas season. There is a place called Alpine Village about 5 minutes from my house, and I have bought them there. They also have the alcohol filled candy. Today we were there for some leber-kaese & butter kaese (yum), and I saw the kinder chocolate (with the white filling), (the kinder eggs is a seasonal item). Got some Toblerone & marzipan instead. :)
