Kinda Petty but......

I've been greeted by a towel animal every time upon arrival at SSR . . .

We have had them at AKL (every day), POFQ, and at CBR. It really depends on the mousekeeper. The mousekeeper at AKL was really imaginative and creative.

Now, when we stayed at BCV (October 2003) the mousekeepers had a class in which they showed us how to make the towel animals! Really, really nice! Be on the lookout for it (if they still have it) - I believe it was in the smaller of the 2 common rooms (library?) in the villas (1st floor).

During our recent stay at SSR, we had a Mickey Head Towel art on our King Bed on our 2nd cleaning. SSR Community Hall has a class offered by housekeeping that shows how to make them.

Dh thought we should keep putting Mickey back on the bed each day. :goodvibes I on the other hand, needed clean towels, so Mickey had to go! :rotfl:

We have had towel animals at almost every WDW resort we have stayed at. Not every trip and not everyday, but we have had our share of them. They are adorable and fun.
We just got back from SSR and they even had a class at the Community Hall where you could learn to make your own towel animals. We meant to go but the time conflicted with one of our ADRs.7
The best towel animals, by far though, were on the 7 day Disney Cruise. We got a new towel animal everyday and some of them were pretty elaborate.

We got those animals on our last trip, but not the 2 before. I guess it's up to the mousekeeper

. . . Some don't know how to make them . . .

1) All housekeepers know how to make them.
2) It is part of the training at Disney University.
3) However, they are only taught the basic ones.
4) More elaborate ones are picked up from other housekeepers.

I've never received a towel animal....

Don't know why...

Do I need to tip in the middle or beginning of the trip to get one?

Usually, tip Mousekeeping at the end....

But never a towel animal....

Maybe I'm just skeptical, but I highly doubt towel animals are part of anyones training.

We had this really cool elephant at BWV in December. My kids loved it.

We've had them towel animals many times, but not always. Hit or miss depending upon the Mousekeeper I guess.

Last time we were at BCV they were showing you how towel animals were made. They were doing it several days in the Drawing Room. They hold various activities there from time to time. They had a few Mousekeepers who would show you how to make any animal you like. They wouldn't stop at one...or two. They'd ask what else you'd like to see.....and when you didn't ask for something they'd say "how about a ........". And they let you take them with you. The kids loved it.

Checked into BWV yesterday, got a towel animal on the bathroom counter. I think you would call it a "joker". I'll post a picture when I get home.
