I've got an idea, but I'll share it with your intended - otherwise, if you are like me, you are too tempted to cheat. And to stop you cheating I'd suggest he starts a thread and then asks everyone to PM him ideas. If you really want to be suprised, then you have to roll with it. Believe me - this is the one bit of your life that it's okay to shut your eyes wait.
I knew the day my DH would propose, I woke up knowing it would be the day. We were up on the Sky Rail in Cairns over the top of the rain forrest all alone and he came over all sweaty and pale and turned to me and said 'do you want to get married then?'. I looked at him and said 'is that it?'. Turned out he'd had a whole speech planned but got so nervous and sickly he just got out the first thing in his head. We got off the first stop and got him some air so he didn't throw up. Honeslty what a fuss, I had told him I'd say yes beforehand anyway.
The best bit of my proposal was when I made him ask my Dad. My Mum knew what was going to happen and was filling eclairs to keep herself busy. My DH cottoned on to the fact that she was eating them as she made them as she was so excited. He let her eat about six before he and Dad got round to talking about marriage. My mother was nearly sick that time but more due to pigging than nerves! She did have time to say 'sale goods, no returns' before feeling like she needed to lay down on her bed as the sugar was kicking in. Dad couldn't stop beaming.
Oh and I can tell you - my second marriage after a nightmare first one is just fabulous.
