I just canceled our Disney trip for next week. I got a killer rate at Coronado Springs ( averaging $206 a night, tax included) and couldn't resist. It wasn't a park trip, it was a rest&relaxation visit after a particularly long, hard academic year. When I was at CSR last fall (solo trip, just there for dinner) I realized how much DH would like it there. We were just going to relax, drive around the area, etc. Sadly, my total knee replacement surgery is scheduled for May 31. That doesn't overlap with the trip, but the associated pre-surgical visits meant shortening our trip- which then made airfare astronomical. SO... no Disney trip for me, to take my mind off of the surgery while I wait. Once I know the TA has canceled the hotel, I'll cancel with Southwest, Boma, Hoop de Doo, Sangria University. I am pretty bummed right now.

I’m sorry to hear this @leebee
Good luck with that knee replacement - everyone I know that’s had them are all glad they did it, and say it made them feel better. Sending lots of PD your way for a successful surgery and easy recovery :wizard:

Sorry you had to cancel. Best wishes with the surgery.

I had to cancel a DLR trip for early Feb. because I fell and broke my hip. So sad to miss it.
We did just got a couple of weeks ago, but I still miss that trip.

Sorry you have to cancel. the trip. I need my knee done but after 5 surgeries on that knee I am not a good patient. That and there would be no one to take care of my husband, so I will continue to hobble. My husband had 2 strokes and I need to be here for him.

See, I would’ve rescheduled the surgery. :teeth: We just love CSR.

But no, seriously, it may be a blessing in disguise. I recently cared for someone who went on a trip just prior to surgery and wound up with a massive blood clot (eta, so it’s clear - as a result of the travel). Can’t give details but let’s just say the patient almost didn’t make it. Trust in the universe on this one, and plan another trip for when you’re better.

Good luck with the surgery.

Sorry to hear this, @leebee,. Disney will be there for you when you are top top again and in Olympic form. Always fun planning a trip.

I have never talked to anybody who's had a knee replacement that was sorry to have done so. And all have said they wished they had done it sooner. And I talked to many people over the 10 years I put my replacement off. It's been 9 years for me now, since I had mine replaced. And so happy I did. Just make sure to do the followup physical therapy to get your new knee back in tip top shape.

You'll do great, leebee. My best for you.

I know It's hard to give up a Disney vacation. Keep the dream and when you're on the mend and feeling better GO!! My big family vacation for May 2020 was cancelled (Covid) and I'm still missing the thoughts of what could have been. Times changed alot to plan a big one again.

I’m sorry. We had to cancel a trip about 10 days out due to a medical event one summer and it stunk. The time leading up to the trip and the whole “I would be doing X today if my trip hadn’t been cancelled…” were kind of rough, so you have my sympathies.

I hope all goes well and you have a smooth recovery!
