Called at 9 am eastern right on the day of the 7 mo mark to try to change from my home resort (okw) to beach club or boardwalk sine I'm going in October for food and wine fest.

Of course, neither was available.

I can't really do the wait list as I have two studio rooms reserved since we are two different families going (well I could, but might end up with one room at beach club and the second at okw which wouldn't work). So I guess I have no chance of getting two rooms between now and Oct? Or when do you think I should try to call in again?

Definitely don't have pts for a 2 bedroom... I only have 30 pts so had to bank and borrow just to do two studio rooms!

I am sorry that you were not able to get the rooms. We will be trying for 2 nights next week to switch from BLT to one of the Epcot resorts but figure our chances are not too good either.

I think it is pretty much a foregone conclusion from this point on, certain resorts, at certain times of the year will no longer be available at 7 months.

OP, sorry, BCV is extremely hard, if not impossible, to get at the 7 month window during F&W, esp. a studio. Add any part of Columbus day weekend to the mix, and that also goes against you. I can usually snag a room at BCV most of the year, but avoid trying to get BCV in October and December. I bought at BWV just for the 11 month window for October. I'm a little surprised that there was not a preferred view studio at BWV. Did you ask which days were causing the problems. Often times there might be one day that is not avilable. If it's at the beginning or end, I generally will still book and waitlist. I won't waitlist in the middle, however. I certainly understand the dilemma of waitlisting for 2 studios.

Definitely a tough time of year for both the BCV and BWV. We purchase at BWV because we knew the times we travel would be effected by the F&W, thanks to the DISboards. I booked our extended family trip right at the 11 month mark so I could get my DW family all in standard view studios and 1 bed....and a BW for us. 2 years ago we waitlisted for a studio at BCV for Columbus Day week and has success, but you would have to waitlist. I just called, and got a 1-br at BWV 10/6-10/14 with no problem. I totally forgot to call yesterday at our 7 month mark, and woke up in a panic this morning.. LOL!

You can never say "it definately won't be available" - but its best to plan for BWV/BCV not being available at seven months over Food and Wine.

Is that Columbus Day weekend? If so; very unlikely you will get it. We were looking for 9/30 - 10/3 and ended up at AKL. But, we missed the 7 month mark by a week and there are worse things than being "stuck" at AKL with a savannah view. We really want the weekend of 10/14 at a studio at either BC or BWV. So, when 10/14 opens we will try and hope for the best.

Yeah getting 2 studios at the same time at an Epcot resort at 7 months for F&W is pretty much impossible. I complain about the dues I pay but every October when I'm staying at BCV, I try to remind myself not to complain next February.

We are in ROFR for BCV points. Realistically we won't be able to make a reservation until sometime in mid-April, which puts us in Mid-November. We'd love to go either 10/29-11/5, 11/5-11/12, or 11/12-11/19. I suspect our last option is the most likely, if anything comes through at all, since it's after F&W and before thanksgiving.

I've had trouble booking at 7 months or under at BCV at times other than F&W Festival. BCV is a small resort and hugely popular. I've been unsuccessful on my waitlists here. Although I own at BCV, I hate planning that far in advance. In recent years, it's become a necessity to book before that 7 month window if I want to guarantee a stay at BCV.

And since the F&W goes to 11/13, your first two sets of dates are going to be very very difficult.

I am hoping for at least to have the points available outside the 7 month timeline for the 11/12 week.....I think that's my only shot. Of course, I could get lucky and find a cancellation. But, I'm not banking on it. We do travel that time of year mostly, b/c of our work schedules, so we won't encounter this problem going forward; we will be booking at 11 months for Oct/Nov after this year.

Exactly. We bought at BWV so we have points to use for our October trips there for F&W. I like owning at various resorts so that I can always book our trips at 11 months and not have to worry about the 7 month window.

So here's an interesting (at least to me!) question:

I have a studio checking in Thurs. 10/6 and checking out Mon.10/10 (Columbus Day weekend) at BWV, but this year for our "short" vacation thought we'd try BLT. Well, called right at the 7-mo. mark and there are no rooms at BLT, definitely no studios. So, went on the waitlist...

BUT, if everyone's got reservations at a resort they don't want, and are waiting for someone else to cancel what they do want, can the waitlists be compared and, say, someone at BLT wanting to change to BWV "switched" to my ressie and vice versa? Or does someone have to cancel first for rooms to be switched/reassigned and waitlists fulfilled?

Seems like a standoff...
