:worried: We have not been to DW since 2009. After reading about the long fastpass lines and the memory makers mess ups..I don't know if I want to go back! I have good memories! If it isn't the magical place that it was ....:confused3 I just don't know. Does anyone else feel this way? I did not like the idea of the magic bands to begin with. I liked my plastic card! Plus, I am not one to plan my fastpasses. Vacations are suppose to be calm and relaxing. They can't be that if you have to plan what rides you want to ride on which days! My son is planning his honeymoon and this will be his brides first time. I don't want her to be disappointed after we have been building it up  I have even heard rumors of rude CMs!! PLEASE ...someone restore my faith in Disneyworld :lovestruc

You will be fine. I'm going March 30th and I look forward to it. If you take plenty of pictures, you'll have fun.

In a nutshell:

Some people like all the changes.
Some people don't.
Some people don't care.

Some people plan to go back like normal.
Some people plan to wait.
Some people say they won't go back.

In the end, only you can decide which category you fall into. :) You may need to experience it for yourself to decide, or you may be able to decide just by reading all the posts from people who have tried it.

good luck! :)

We were just there in December, used the Magic Bands, FP+, MM, the whole thing and it was awesome. Already have 2 additional WDW trips planned in the next 11 months, so we're still big fans. Ignore the noise, and just go and have a good time.

You really shouldn't let reports of long any kind of lines on a single holiday make you afraid to visit any other day.

Don't read any of the negative posts on FP+!

I went for the first time in November with some friends and they've gone there many time before. Yes I read some posts but I didn't let that put a negative impact on my vacation!

I still got to do the things I wanted to ride and see.

As of for planning, the only planning we did was our ADRs. We made our FP selections the morning of our park visits while waiting for the bus or once we got there. So I'm not sure why people are freaking out over making FP's 60 days out and saying they're locked into that specific park. Plus you can change them whenever you need to, which we did.

I'm just back, didn't plan any FP+ booked them the day of, we went with the flow and still got most of what we wanted. I see no less magic than I did ten years ago, to me it is the same place.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Yes, alot of people. There are threads here daily echoing the same sentiment.

Agreed, I wish I could still use a card and not have to wear, carry or bring the MB.

Plus, I am not one to plan my fastpasses. Vacations are suppose to be calm and relaxing. They can't be that if you have to plan what rides you want to ride on which days!

Of course they can. Anyone who schedules ADRs has a guideline of where they will be on certain days and coordinating FP+s according to where you will be is a simple and logical step. The ability to move them around later based on numerous factors helps as well.

My son is planning his honeymoon and this will be his brides first time. I don't want her to be disappointed after we have been building it up  I have even heard rumors of rude CMs!!

There are rude CMs, but there have always been rude CMs. There are also rude guests, and have always been as well.

Plenty of fun can still be had at Disney, but just might have to be done differently from what you remember.

Accept and be willing to change, put effort into seeing how you can maximize your time and value by using the new system and all should go well.

Well... all I can do is tell you about my last trip in December, and my plans for my next one in April!

I've always planned our parks for the day, so being able to pre-select three FPs for each day was no big deal. I used easyWDW.com's crowd calendars to decide which parks I wanted to visit each day.

Each morning, we visited the lowest crowd park for rope drop. Then we had lunch and returned to our resort for a nap. In the afternoon, we hopped over to a busier park for whatever evening entertainment was available and to use our FP+ selections.

FP+ helped make this our BEST trip yet. I loved being able to walk right onto a coaster in the evening with no wait. I'd never ridden many of them in the dark before! So cool... I also loved being able to show up at Hollywood Studios in the evening and ride Toy Story Mania with no wait, followed directly by a ride on the Tower of Terror. Then we'd take in a show, and by the time it was late, the crowds at Star Tours and the Great Movie Ride would have vanished.

After as many trips as I've been on, I've got a pretty good grasp of when to hit up most rides for the shortest standby lines. Test Track, opt for single rider first thing in the morning. Expedition Everest, stay late and ride in the last hour the park is open. Etc...

We rode everything we wanted to ride, and more. And we loved our MagicBands! So convenient, and comfortable. We opted not to put charging privileges on ours, because we didn't want it to be TOO easy to buy stuff. We only planned 3 table service dinners, and were pleasantly surprised how many places were taking walk-ups. We did not meet a single rude CM, and most went above and beyond to be friendly to us.

Since it looks like I'll be using the same MagicBand again on this trip, I decided to decorate mine with nailpolish. I can't wait to see what the castmembers think!

For our upcoming trip, we plan to follow much the same routine. However, we did learn a few useful tricks from the last trip:

Before we head out to use any of our FP+ reservations, we pull up the screen listing them all on our laptop and take a cellphone picture. That way, if we get the "blue circle of death" at an attraction entrance, we can easily show the CM that we have a ride booked. Every time that happened last trip, they waved us right through as soon as they saw the picture. No problem!

It's even easier if you have the Disney app, but we didn't. :goodvibes

Animal Kingdom after 4pm is AMAZING! It's completely dead. Disney's trying hard to fix that, of course, but in the meantime it's a terrific place to visit. We could have ridden Everest around and around without a wait! We had Dinoland entirely to ourselves. There was only one other person in the car, when we rode Dinosaur. Plus, the park is gorgeous in the dark.

We've chosen to book Soarin' for all our Epcot afternoons. My husband loves Soarin', and we know that the single rider lines are usually quite short over at Test Track in the morning. So, that's how we decided to divide things up. We don't need to ride together (though, as often as not, we did anyway).

I think your son and his bride will have a wonderful time. If you can afford it, you should get them parkhoppers and a room at the Yacht or Beach club. They'll be able to stroll over to Epcot for dinner every night! And they'll be an easy walk or boat ride away from Hollywood Studios, too.

I was kind of amused that this thread showed up in my news feed on the same day that this other thread showed up.

It appears to be a good illustration that some people's fears of FP+ doom could be a bit over dramatic.

OKW Lover - this post has been in the works for awhile. Just got around to writing it! To everyone else..Thank you!!:goodvibes I am glad to know they (honeymooners) can plan the fastpasses on the morning of the park day. You have restored my faith!! :rotfl: :cheer2:

::yes::

I have been twice so far with the MB's and FP+ and I have 2 more trips planned this year still. I never got all worried about it, just went with it, and the only real difference I noticed was that in the middle of the day rides like HM and POTC had 30 minute waits. Which is high for them, but elsewhere not really. And later in the evening it was a walk on again. So we are just going to go around opening (I'm not really a rope dropper) and ride the coasters and big rides, spend the afternoon at the pool, and go for the later hours. I'm not the least bit concerned. You will be fine :thumbsup2

Edit - as PP have said, use FP+ for afternoon/early evening when the parks are busier. I was able to reschedule my times the day of as well with minimal issues. That part, at least, is the same as paper FP. The good times run out earlier.

Honeymooners? Park in the morning? How times have changed. :-)

Ok wait! You have it ALL wrong! Parents are not going on the honeymoon! As for the comment about picking times for fastpass being in the morning...you guys take things too literal! :rotfl2: Maybe I should have said - It's good to know you can get/make fastpass+ on the day of!! Thanks again for putting us at ease. I would hate to see Disney change! We love it there!! :grouphug:

Each to his own. We prefer our resort afternoons, to be honest. ;) Even on our honeymoon (such as it was), we were never morning people.

If we'd had our honeymoon at Disney, we'd be doing rope drop, for sure!

But if the OP's son and daughter-in-law want to sleep late, then they'll appreciate FP+ all the more!

Ah! Oops. I was thinking you were part of the trip. If its the brides fort visit she's unlikely to be disappointed cause she won't have many pre-conceived expectations and there's just so much to enjoy!

In my opinion if you can't see magic, spending your honeymoon at Disney on your first trip I don't think you'll see it anywhere. I'm sure it will be beautiful for them.
