Kind of curious about this "Disney Legs" Contest!

I was reading the navigators on Barb's site, then I saw something about it here.....

What in the world is the Best Disney Legs contest? I am not "against" these types of contests, but is it just me or does it seem strange to have on DCL? It seems kind of spring-breakish-college-crowd-Carnival Cruise kind of thing! (not bashing Carnival, but they seem to attract the younger, partying type...)
So, is it ladies and men (that would be good ), do people wear bathing suits, shorts or what? Do they parade in front of a whooping, hollering crowd? Is it all just good "clean" fun?

I don't know for sure about Disney, but usually it is looked at as a joke. They'll pick a few guys with really hairy legs, or someone with really white legs , or someone with tattoos all over, or some really old guys and girls who have never thought they'd get into a contest like this. It is all in fun and they just make jokes and tease people. It has always just been a lot of fun and a feel good time. Nothing to get your undies in a bundle over. At least on the Carnival, NCL, RCI & others that I have cruised. It's not like there will be some glamorous goddesses up there, believe me! It's more of a comedy thing that a beauty pageant! You'll probably get a big kick out of it!

Whew! I read this and was like, "holy smokes, what the heck!?"

I was picturing all these hard body moms up there....not like I needed another reason to hate my thighs in my bathing suit!

We saw the "Disney Best Legs Contest" on our cruise in February. It was all in fun. They chose six men who were willing to show off their legs and six women to be the judges. The men went up on the stage at the Goofy pool one at a time and kind of danced around and showed off their legs to the judges. The women then judged the men based on Disney characters - Beast, Hercules, Prince Charming, etc. It was funny! The men were good sports and they each received a medal for participating. Disney wouldn't do anything in bad taste!

All good clean Disney fun!!!! It is funny to see how the judges match up the contestants legs with the Disney characters....goofy, donald, beast, etc.

The contestants strut their stuff around the Goofy pool and stage do songs like, Wild Thing, Wipeout, etc.

It's fun to watch!!! My son and his friend did it one year and we laughed and laughed!!!

On our first cruise in April 2002 my husband participated in the "Hot Legs" contest. Did we laugh?!!! He used one of the poles and kind of climbed up it and then swung around it down to the bottom....our 2 daughters were laughing hysterically at their normally "quiet and reserved" dad. Needless to say he won an award..I believe he was the "Pinocchio" of the group.

My father, 64 yo, won the Beast award for his hairy legs on the Feb 28th Magic cruise.

Is it always at the Goofy pool?

My husband was chosen for the contest and he had a great time and we are still laughing about it a year later. He won the Donald Duck award and has it hanging. The pool side contests are always so much fun to watch.

Yes...I have always seen this competition at the Goofy Pool and it is usually held on a sea day at about 1 or 2 in the afternoon.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Sort of reminds me of the John Travolta/Gloria Gaynor contests at the 70s party. That's always a riot. The Legs contest is something I haven't seen, even in 36 cruises. I'll have to look for it on #37.
