Kim's new and improved life journal!

Ok, so Jen and Marie know me too well. I will shop. I can't help it. But I AM doing better so far in '07! I'm not shopping every day on my lunch break. I think I've gone twice so far this year. And that's REALLY good for me!!

I don't think I've updated you guys, but my friend at work (who is pregnant and my running partner) has complete placenta previa. Basically it means the placenta is at the bottom of her uterus and the baby is on top of it. That's what caused her bleeding. The bleeding has stopped and she is very limited to what she can do. She can't lift her 20 month old, she can't clean, she can't do too much. If she starts bleeding again, she'll have to go on bed rest. Please keep her in your thoughts. She's at 20 weeks pregnant, so she has 20 weeks to go. Her doctor believes the running caused it, so she's feeling major guilt...but he had told her she was in the clear to run from the start (since she had already been running). I guess you never know. Just wanted to keep you guys updated.

As far as the chicken stew...it's really easy. You can make it full-fat or low-fat (I've done both and it tastes great both ways).

I put boneless skinless chicken breasts in the crockpot (one pack of 4 or 5) thawed or frozen. Then in a bowl I mix 2 cans of cream of chicken soup (I've done cheddar broccoli too) and one 16 oz. container of sour cream together. Pour over the chicken and cook on low in the crockpot all day (8-10 hours). When I get home from work I put on a pound of noodles to cook according to the box (elbows or twisty elbows) and boil a bag of chopped broccoli. While those are cooking, I use 2 forks to shred the chicken in the crockpot. Once they're done, I drain the noodles and broccoli and put in the crockpot. I mix it all together and let it cook for maybe another 10 minutes. Then it's ready to go. It makes a LOT!! I have a 6 quart crockpot and it's almost full! DH loves the leftovers and I usually give some to my parents too. If you guys try it, let me know what you think!

I'll be back with my food/drinks later!

ok....so the chicken stew....is that the low fat one??:confused3 16oz sour cream & 2 can cream of chicken.....just substitute with LF or FF of each? It sounds wonderful!! Can't wait to try it!!

As for your friend...I really hope everything goes ok these next 20 weeks. She has no reason to feel guilty...the DR. said it was ok. Keep her spirits up....you're good at that!

Have great day tomorrow!!

Exactly - I get the 98% fat free soups and light sour cream (the fat free doesn't quite cut it - I've tried it).

Let me know what you think!!

marie

Yesterday was in the 60's...not sure about today yet. I think it's supposed to be the same. :goodvibes And what do you mean I suck with the tea? :confused3

Hey Scott! Thanks for stoppin' in!!

Tracy - YES, I'm finally feeling better. Random coughs & sneezes here & there...but I'm definitely much better! As far as vacation planning goes....it's still in the planning stages - but I think we'll probably end up back at WDW sometime in 2007! :dance3: (My DH is a thorough thinker. He wants to plan out our trips through the next few years to see when/where the AP's would be the way to go...so it's not just planning one trip, it's planning out multiple trips! :rotfl: )

I'll do a seperate post to catch you guys up on the past few days....:headache:

OK.....here's a summary of the last couple of days.

Friday - I ate on plan all day and after work babysat my 3 Dnephews (ages 8, 5 & 3) until 11 (even got them McD's for dinner and didn't eat any!! :cool1: ). Along with my 2 kids.....let's just say I fell asleep very fast after that! :headache:

Saturday - Didn't exactly eat on plan during the day(didn't eat enough). I had 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast, a sugarfree cookie bar for a snack, some turkey lunchmeat rolled up for lunch and some veggie medley for a snack. And THEN we went out last night. YES, it was my cheat meal for the week and YES I cheated. I cheated BIG. So big I can't post what I ate/drank because this is the WISH board and I don't want to be responsible for making you all run out and eat/drink all the stuff I did (because if I described it - you just might! :rolleyes1 NAH, you wouldn't because you guys are STRONG!! :thumbsup2 Anyway....We did pick up the treadmill and it's all ready to go in my garage so I'm looking forward to gettin' on that baby today! :thumbsup2

I'll be back tonight and will post my food/drinks and exercise tonight! Have a great day, all! :wave2:

Edited to add: I ran in Borders yesterday and bought Marathoning for Mortals, as recommended by some great DIS buddies. It'll help me prep/train for the 1/2 or a full marathon (should I ever decide I want to do that). :)

The tea thing....I'd kill for a sweet tea....and unsweet tea....something that looked remotely like tea!!!!

So, WHAT DID YOU EAT last night??? C'mon...don't be scared to confess....I don't have the $$ to fly to NJ right now to beat you senseless....you're safe!!! :rolleyes1

You're gonna have a love/hate relationship w/ the treadmil. You're gonna hate it because it's not outside, enjoying the scenery and fresh air, and you're gonna love it because you can use it in ANY weather....and when the kids are stressing you out....it's great!!

Re: the book-marathon for mortals....do you journal in it, does it tell you how to train? I've been thinking of going and getting it...maybe I will today since the 2008 1/2 is still an option....:scratchin

Have a great day Kim!! And thanks for always bein' there!
marie

OK, you asked for it.....pretzel bread (I've never had Le Cellier's, but I can only hope it's 1/2 as good!), filet (melt-in-your-mouth), 3 cheese potatoes au gratin (OMG - this stuff was INSANE)....and a few coctails...kamikaze, alabama slammers, pinot grigio. :dance3: I don't plan on making all of my cheat meals this over the top. :rolleyes1

Re: the book-marathon for mortals....do you journal in it, does it tell you how to train? I've been thinking of going and getting it...maybe I will today since the 2008 1/2 is still an option....:scratchin

I'm just starting to read it, but it's not really a journal kind of book. It's got training plans for every type of person out there and Scott & Amy swear by it. So I figured it couldn't hurt.

I'll post about today in another post.

ahhh Marathoning for Mortals!!! AWESOME book. and yes...it's what Amy and I used to train for the marathon. We did modify it a little. We used the run only marathon plan, but did our 4/1 intervals instead. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone.

As far as journaling the results...I just dumped everything into spreadsheets so I could track my progress. Don't forget to build up a base before you start training. Train to train. LOL!!

Have a great day people!!

So here's how today went:

I slept until 8:30 but wasn't feeling too well when I woke up (can you say hangover? :confused3 ) At 10am I finally decided to venture onto the treadmill. I ran for 20 minutes at a speed that I believe is faster than I usually run outside. My body might have allowed me to run longer, but my breathing wouldn't. I was wheezing and I could just feel the congestion in my chest still. I stretched and then did 10 minutes of arm weights, and then 80 crunches. It felt AWESOME to be moving and exercising again! I might run again tomorrow (since I'm off) and then on Wed and then the weekend again.

Oh, and I'm not weighing in tomorrow at home...I'm gonna give my body one extra day to get off last night's transgressions....so I'll weigh in on Tuesday morning.

Food for today:

bfast
scrambled egg whites w/ff cheese
apple

lunch
lite pita pizza
celery w/natural peanut butter

dinner
turkey meatballs
salad w/red wine vinegar

snack
100 calorie pack
8 oz. skim milk

drinks
85 oz. water
20 oz. decaf unsweet green tea

hi buddy!!!
im glad you had a good weekend--and those "cocktails" sound good, i shall keep that in mind!
I hope you are feeling better--ENJOY your day off!

Great job getting right back on plan after your cheat meal! Yay Kim!!! :yay: I've been wondering what you ate for that meal. I was looking forward to it FOR you! :lmao: Btw, what kind of eating plan are you doing? I'm just in awe that you can stick with your menus. You'll have to let me know how the one cheat meal a week thing goes. I was always worried it would throw my blood sugar out of whack and cause all kinds of cravings. But I have a friend who swears by the method. Actually she does a whole free day.

Dude, I can't believe you've been hanging around here so long and still haven't read MFM. Where have you been??? You aren't allowed to be part of WISH without owning at least 5 copies of our WISH Bible! :rotfl: :rotfl:

What a great idea to add a link to your wish journal in your siggy. I'll definitely be stopping by more often since I'll have the link directly from your posts in my journal. You be a genious!
