Kim's new and improved life journal!

Just wanted to say thanks. Nothing new with mom, although her vomiting started again today. This has been such a weird couple of weeks.

DS4 had preschool graduation last night. What a fun night it was. I'll post some pics when I get them downloaded. I know I also promised some pics of my new porch/deck and I'll download them as well.

Hope you all have a GREAT 4th!

Hey everyone...I will be going to see mom a little later, but wanted to share some pics from DS's preschool graduation Friday night.

DS did great, and fortunately is staying at that school until September when he starts Kindergarten. We have LOVED his preschool (it was DD's too) and will be sad when the school and the staff aren't a part of our lives anymore.

Just wanted to share!

Kim -

What cute kids!! DS looked adorable in the cap and gown!! Hold on to those moments...it seems like they grow up so fast! Thanks for posting the pics. (and how lucky that you got Gervace from Survivor...too cool!!)

My thoughts are with you every day regarding your mother. Hang in there and know that we are all thinking about you.

With that said, please have a great 4th of July!!

Your kids are so darn cute!! Love the pics!!

Kim, sending more hugs, and I enjoyed your pics of the kids! Very sweet! I really miss mine from that age. They are 10 and 17. Although they have their adorable moments still.

Good luck with Mom.

Well, I finally have some good news to report!

My mom is feeling much better today. Her only issue seems to be the pain (that she originally went in the ER for). Yesterday they tried to reduce her pain meds and try her on something different since she's been on such strong meds for 2 weeks. But unfortunately the new meds aren't cutting it.

But, she's not vomiting, she's breathing fine, her blood pressure was actually normal today (it's been high the whole time she's been in there) and she was able to get out of bed and take a short walk.

As far as the clot...the lung specialist was in today and he said that she goes to see him in 3 months (continue with the blood thinners) and they'll recheck it then. To me, that sounds like it's nothing to worry about, right?

They are rechecking her kidneys today because they are really thinking it's kidney pain she's having. I just hope they can figure out this pain and she can move on (and go HOME!).

As always, thanks so much to you all for listening, praying, and being there for us. :thumbsup2

Kim!!! So awesome to hear some good news finally!!! I really hope things are gonna turn out ok!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

First - a mom update...it looks like she will be transported to Jefferson (in Philly) tomorrow. My dad had a long talk with her primary physician and they've decided that is the best thing for her at this point. The specialists around here can't seem to figure her pain out...so it's time to move on. I'm very happy that she is going to what I feel is a better place for care, but it's going to be hard on me since I won't be able to just hop in the car after work & pop in to see her. Philly is a good 1 hour ride each way.

Second - I actually DID run the 4 mile race today. I went into it planning on walk/running it with my friend since he hasn't trained at all for it and I hadn't run in almost 2 weeks. As you probably know...it was HOT today. Not sure of the temp, but I'd guess somewhere in the 90's by 9am. The race started at 9:15, and there were a LOT of people there. This being my first race, I had no idea what to do, but my friend Michael thought we should start in the back section since we knew we weren't in it to win it. We ran until about 1.5 miles in (and up the biggest BFH I've ever seen) and then walked for about 5 minutes. Then we ran the rest of the way. We were definitely going at a much slower pace than I was used to, but it was actually difficult to breathe because of the heat. I did stop once more at about 3.8 miles because I felt like I was going to pass out. It was really frustrating because I could see the finish line, but I figured it was better to walk a little bit & grab a cup of water than to pass out cold in the street and not finish! :thumbsup2 I drank a couple sips of the water and then poured the rest over my head and then started running again. I definitely picked up the pace at that point with all of the people lined up (for the parade) cheering us on. I kind of wanted to catch up to Michael too, but he had just gotten too far ahead. I ended up finishing in 48.50. Yes, that's not a fast time, but holy cow...I actually finished it AND I ran most of it! :woohoo: According to the board there were over 500 people in the race. I think I finished #488 :rotfl: .

Well, I'm going to bed and I'm sure my legs are gonna be hurting tomorrow!

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU BUDDY!!! You did a great job with the 4 mile, especially with everything that has been going on lately. :cheer2:

I will talk to you tomorrow and see you next weekend! woohoo

I was thinking about ya yesterday....wondering if you ran it...
CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST RACE!!! :cheer2:  :woohoo:
Finishing = Winning in my book!!

glad they're moving your mom....you should start getting some better answers soon. Sorry it's so far away, but hopefully the pain will start improving.

Hi Kim,
I read most of your Journal because like you I don't want to buy new clothes in a bigger size and everything is tight. I weigh 138 and would love to weigh 118 right now, I'm only 5'2" though. I was wondering what kinds of things you eat mostly? I read about the protein and veggies but really wanted to know what worked for you? Congrats on your first race and glad your mom is doing alright. :goodvibes I used to live in NJ too, Pt. Pleasant to be exact. WE moved to Knoxville TN last July after living in NJ my whole 30 years. :rolleyes1 Anyway any tips you can give me would be great! I joined Jenny Craig but it is working very slow and I get discouraged easy. I"m missing the beach about now. Hope the rain has slowed down in NJ. :sunny:

Hi kaysmommie! Thanks for joining in! I sent you a PM.

Thanks, Marie and Jen! My legs aren't too happy with me today for running yesterday!! :rotfl: I'm hoping to get back out there within the next couple of days to jump back on the running bandwagon!

Hi Kim!

Glad to hear some better news with your mom.

Great to hear about your first race. A great inspiration to us all!

Please keep the good vibes going and best of all hugs to you and luck to your mom!

Wendy

Congratulations on your first race, Kim! :thumbsup2

I hope that the move for your mom will provide some answers as to what is going on. You are all still in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Well, as of 7pm tonight, my mom hadn't been moved yet. They are waiting for a bed to open up at Jefferson. She had her stress test and it showed no issues, so that is a good thing. I would like for them to find what is wrong with her so they can fix it....but I'm praying it's not heart-related!

Thanks so much, you guys. :grouphug:

Oh Kim, :grouphug:

Prayers have been said and continue to be said for your mom. :grouphug: I hope that the doctors get some answers soon. Everyone must be so frustrated. :(

How are you holding up sweetie? Is there anything that we can do for you? :grouphug:
