Kim Possible Disappointment

Before you all get too tough on the characters. It could be worse this is from our Six flags.

:rotfl2: Those are some cracked out characters! Wonder woman needs to work out a bit and I'm being nice and not saying anything else but that...

Just to be fair, this is the image of Wonder Woman the "boomers" generation grew up seeing on TV.

I love those Wonder Woman pics. I had WW underoos when I was a kid, and I used to wear them all the time and run around with my "golden lasso" (a piece of rope from a hay bale) and pretend to be the fearless heroine. :goodvibes Good times.

We saw Kim Possible in Toontown down by the train station. I didn't notice her but my daughter did. The onyl reason I didn't really know who she was (I knew her name) is because my kids are younger so they don't watch that show yet.

And as for that WW - ewww... she looks like she's on drugs!

My DDs were born in China so we always take delight in visiting with Mulan. You can imagine our surprise a couple years ago when Mulan was obviously not Asian.

My children were born in Korea and we always tell my DD she is an Asian Princess like Mulan. She would be mortified is when we visited Mulan wasn't Asian. During our last trip, DD told she Mulan they are both Asian Princesses and Mulan gave her a big kiss on the cheek, DD loved walking around with the lipstick print on her cheek for the rest of the day!

Getting unCHARACTERistically serious (for me, anyway) for a moment:

I don't know how Disney should respond to these things in the days of Political Correctness.

In the theater, it is called "Nontraditional Casting" (see link and quote below) to put someone in a role that does not physically match how the role was written (and it is considered by many to be a proper thing to do).

A major example is Peter Pan.
On the stage, "he" has traditionally (and very OFTEN) been a female actor.
But I have also seen the stage show with male actors in the role.
So would THIS be "nontraditional," or "traditional" casting?

Are we now supposed to JUDGE or NOT to JUDGE people's appearance in these situations?

The PC police are always watching...

I don't know what we are "supposed" to do. :confused3

"The phrase "nontraditional casting" refers most often to "cross-racial" casting -- placing a non-white in a role not specially written for a non-white actor. (New York Times 1993) A more comprehensive definition of nontraditional casting is the "use of actors of any race, sex, ethnicity or degree of disabilities in roles for which such factors are not germane to the development of stage characters or the play." (Washington Post 1987) But even this definition might seem too limiting for some proponents of nontraditional casting."

I absolutely love the Flash's Karate stance LOL I would have laughed so hard

Wearing Underoos are fun...you can choose from more than one....Veronica and Josie, too...Aquaman! Spiderman! Which one are you? Yeah, wearing Underoos are fun!! Something super-NEW in underwear! YEAH!"

Okay....glad I got that off my chest. :happytv:

I used to have Wonder Woman Underoos, too! I would buy those for my daughter if they still existed.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Six Flags NE's character's are similiar to you six flags.

OMG And I just thought it was the DC area thing.

I had to Pay DD big to even go stand with them but it was so worth it . Any time DW asked are we going to Disney again I just show her that photo and say yes.

Now we do go to SF a lot as it's only 40 min away and the water park is nice during the week as I take off alot of mondays during the summer.

The other 2 were not that bad some of the male characters running around SF have to learn to tuck that thing away when wearing tights.:rotfl2: I know it scared some of the kids:scared1:

We saw a non Asian Mulan at the Princess breakfast in Norway, very obvious. The last time we watched the Pocohontas show in AK, she was really white, as soon as she came out adults started whispering all around me that she didn't look anything like Pocohontas.

These are the two we've seen the last couple trips. They are GREAT!

We too saw these two just outside the Power Ranger thing at MGM. Glad to hear everyone thought they were great, they were not so great for us. The ONLY time I have ever thought that about a character at WDW. They were annoyed that the kids were asking them where Rufus was, they rushed us and were more interested in chatting with each other than with us. :confused3

Could not see anything untoward in the photo. The original WW did not seem to tuck her top things away. Thank goodness:rotfl:

And do you think Superheros are not super all over.:rotfl2:

That is too cute!:)

That reminds me of the time I saw a national touring company of Peter Pan and the male actor(BD Wong) playing Peter Pan was Asian. Go figure!!!
