Kilimanjaro Safari at Night - Worth it?

Back when AK first opened they had a night time safari during the holiday season where they had a campfire set up with what were supposed to be native African villagers doing some sort of native dance around the camp fire. It was set way back from the road somewhere on the open savanna. They also had lighting on in a few spots so you could try to spot some animals. Didn't see much other than the campfire bit. I wasn't surprise when they stopped offering it. Sunset is good but full dark I wouldn't bother with.

I did it last year, enjoyed it. The hippos that are normally underwater were standing on the land, got a good view of the lion standing up on the rock.

We did it this past summer both during the day, and at dusk. We enjoyed both rides, and will certainly try to go at dusk again next summer.

We went at dusk/dark and didn’t like it at all. Very hard to see the animals compared to daytime. The only plus was that the lions were more active.

We will stick to daylight from now on for sure

Did the night version once. That was enough for us.

We have done a nighttime safari about 4 times this year, and we thought they were some of the BEST safari's we've had. Super close up Giraffes, active alligators (or crocodiles, I can't keep them straight), rhinos out of the water and best of all, LIONS walking around and roaring.

Thanks. You’ve “talked me into” doing it again at night. I’m reminded that not every safari is great and maybe I got the dud. I love KS, and I think the night safari deserves another try.

The lions were very active when we rode at night. That was worth the experience!
