I just read a review online and the family took cards that the kids would use to write the things they wanted to take home for souveniers. On the last visit to each park they had to decide what they really wanted from the list.

My question is I would love to do this for the whole time and then the last day call Souvenier day and go to DownTown Disney. I am just wondering if you can buy everything there - even things that are specific to certain parks. I would hate to say to my kids they can get something and then find out we can't and are not able to go back to a park.

Anyone know?

unless its ride specific for example an "i survived the tower of terror " shirt or what not... i think you can get pretty much anything at DtD

Anything they sell in any resort or park you can get through Disney Merchandising at 407.363.6200.

We have had problems in the past with waiting till the end. One year we went and my DD really wanted the Jewel dalamation stuffed animals from 101 Dalmations. It had spots around her neck like a necklace. Anyway she saw it at one of the park shops and we told her to wait until our last night. We were planning on DD and we didn't want her to buy the dog and then want more stuff later. Well, of course they did not have the dog! She reminds us EVERY trip when she wants to buy something about this incident!

What we now do is let the kids spend a certain amount of their money. When it is gone - that's it! Sometimes we start paying them in disney dollars before a trip for chores or holidays. We buy each of them one pin for their collection. When it is their money, they seem to be much better about choosing!

I love the idea of giving the kids Disney dollars before the trip. How old are your kids? Or what age did you start this. I only have one so it is not really a problem. My best friend is going with 3 next year. It will be her first trip as an adult and she is really worried about souviners. I want to pass this idea on to her. Her kids wills be 4, 6 & 7.

This thread has got me now leaning towards allowing the kids to purchase stuff as they see it and have it delivered back to the resort.

On that note, does anyone know what the return policies are on products purchased at the stores in the parks. For example, if you bought something at MK, would you be able to return it at a gift shop at the resorts or somewhere in DTD? (My thinking here is that, assuming we put our kids on a budget for souvenirs, if one of my kids have "buyer's remore" over something selected earlier in the stay and would prefer something that he or she sees later, I'd like to be able to return what was purchased earlier in the week.)

Windy City Heather - Our last trip the kids were DD-10, DS-6, DS-6. When the boys were younger (4), they were happy with the penny press book. We bought them each one of the special penny books and they each had a film cannister of pennies and quarters. They were allowed to get one penny pressed from a machine. This was a terrific way to get the boys to walk around WS in EPCOT. They searched each country for the machines!
