Hiya,

just wondering what the view is out there on the kids dressing up as princesses? My princess: 6 and princess: 4 want to wear their princess dresses round the park 'cos last time we were there they saw other little girls doing it... I said I didn't know if they were allowed on rides dressed up? I guess I'm trying to discourage them, but I really just don't know if it is practical or not - any views/advice out there?

Cheers,
Tessa

When we were there last week, there were loads of kids dressed up. Princesses, buzz lightyear, peter pan. I take it they all got on the rides ok. My kids have never asked to dress up.

I think it's really cute, i'm trying to encourage mine to dress up when we go haha!:yay:

Depends on how practical it is with the weather. When we were there on a wet wet wet wet wet wet wet wet February day, it seemed such a shame to see lovely little Disney dresses being trailed through the puddles. Some of them don't offer much protection from the cold either. If the day is warm it would be a different story.

We saw plenty of little girls dressed up, they had warm clothes on underneath and their dresses on over their clothes. The only thing we kept on doing though, because we were on the lookout for princesses, if anyone was carrying their daughter on their shoulders or carrying them we kept on saying theres a princess over there (and it was a child!!).
We did also see the children with the princess hats and veils on, which are very nice and you can buy them in the shops over there. You could save your nice dresses if you have a character meal somewhere and just take them to the toilet and put their dress on. This way they will wear their dress, have some lovely photos all prettied up and then if the weather is not so good, whip them back off again before leaving the restaurant and put your warm clothes back on again and this way they are not ruined. What do you think?

Hi Tessa!
I bought my DD(8) an Aurora dress during our trip and let her wear it for one full day.
She thought it was wonderful and there was no prob at all with her going on any rides. We were lucky because the weather was so good she didn't have to wear a coat over the top but I made her wear thermal vest and leggings underneath just in case she was chilly.

Her favourite part was when she was watching the princess parade with her Aurora dress on and when the sleeping beauty float came by Aurora gave her the biggest smile and wave and then got Prince Philips attention and pointed her out to him. It was such a highlight for her esp. when princess meet and greet was cancelled.

So try and make the parade on a day you let your little princesses wear their dresses as the Princesses do make it extra special for those girls. On another day we saw the same thing happen for another little girl dressed as Belle.

My only other advice would be take wet wipes for sticky fingers just to help protect the dress :rotfl2:

Thanks all

sounds like the parade was made very special for your little girl Raci - some of those characters can be so wonderful and make SUCH an impact on the enjoyment of a holiday!

And I think wearing them for our meal at cafe mickey is a great idea too - I think I'm coming round to the idea that they could wear them over their clothes for a visit to the park one afternoon maybe.

We plan () early magic hours starts, back to DCR for lunch/swim/rest then back to park for parade time and early evening - looks like we could include the candelabration too that way - they would be just too tired by 6 without a break earlier.

when I was little I wore an Aurora dress round the park all day and no one said anything - well actually that's not true, CMs were incredibly complemtary and made me feel really special, so I think your little girls will love all the attention, plus it will make for some lovely photographs! I think it's positively encouraged to dress up like princesses! You definitely get more character interaction as well.

hiya
We ve just got back from DLP and DD aged 3 1/2 had her belle dress on all day over her top and pants and got loads of attention and fuss made by cast members and characters.
The only problem is now she is home she thinks she IS STILL a princess and can do what she likes:eek:
There were lots of kids dressed up it definately is not a problem on the rides.
Have fun
Elaine

Last summer my little girl wore her minnie mouse dress in the studios ,there wasn,t as many child in costumes in this part of the park ,A cm spotted her and we where picked to go on mickeys float(me as well as i had my mickey ears on of cause) in the parade, it made our holiday and it was money well spent on that dress:cloud9:
