Where do you buy yours/what kind do you buy?

So far this year I've tried Lands End and LL Bean-both of them didn't fit my boys feet well. I'm thinking of trying Stride Rite next, but I know that's going to cost a lot more. My boys have narrow feet at the heels and that makes it tricky!

Actually, we have always lucked out at payless. They usually have some that are adjustable velcro around the front and the ankle so they are ok for wide or narrow feet. I've been very happy with their sandals.

We went to stride rite and found the sandals to be reasonable. Because if you get the Sperry sandals they double as water shoes and were the most comfortable sandals my daughter has had. Now that she is older she wishes she could still fit into her old sperrys. They were great walking shoes.

Perhaps you do too...??? Check that out. I actually just got a pair of last years "model" reasonably priced at a local kids' specialty store, The Rugged Bear.

My best luck with the four kids has been Payless for sandals. Tennis shoes I get from Land's End because I need them to last all school year. Try inexpensive first and work your way up. My discount places (Target, Payless etc) have pretty good stuff these days. Good luck.

The last two years I have gotten my son's sandals at Stride Rite. He has Extra Wide feet, so we have the opposite problem. They were about $26.00. I like them, they don't seem to hurt his feet at all.

Try Rack Room shoes. They sell a lot of good brands for less and they usually have some type of BOGO sale. We've had good luck there with shoes.

I buy Sun San Sea Wees leather sandals for my twin girls. They come in boy and girl colors. I buy them at a local children's boutique.

I agree we have 2DD both with narrow feet and every year we try something new and always come back to classic Salt-waters. I also have narrow feet and have a pair myself. Perfect for the beach and everyday.

Got DS2 Lands End for the inlet store here and got DD4 Cloumiba Rock Skippers from Zappos. They both love them.

Look online at Teva.com They have some really cute sandals. I orders some for both of my DDs last year, prior to our trip, and they loved them! So comfy, velcro too.

I have the opposite problem that you have. My son has wide feet. I got two really nice pairs of sandals at Target. Both are leather and one pair is more for "rugged" play. I also got great water shoes at The Children's Place.

Shoes is one place I don't skimp, either for me or for DS. For one thing I'm a teacher and a mom so I'm on my feet all day so I can tell you how much it hurts to have cheap shoes -- DS is even more active than I am so I want the best cushioning I can find for him. Secondly, DS has very wide feet and I have extra high arches, so we're hard to fit. Hence, my child (and I) often go around in expensive shoes and thriftstore bargains for shirts and pants.

I also try and buy DS sandals that 1) can get wet so he can splash in the creek if we go hiking, and he can go canoeing at day camp and 2) are closed toed for safety. This year he has a pair of Tevas that meets both criteria and which he and I both love. Last year we ordered from Lands End and weren't nearly as happy. Except for last year I usually get his at the Stride Rite store -- the one near me has other high quality brands as well.

DD has the same problem. We have SO much trouble finding sneakers (Nike is best). Last year we bit the bullet and bought Tevas. I went cheap with Payless (although they're creeping up) and they wore out. So I bought them Lands End. They wore out in about 4 weeks. Finally I bought Tevas. I resisted because they were 'expensive.' Well, I would have saved in the long run, as the Tevas are still kicking after a full summer of fun, WDW, and now this spring. Next time, I'm just buying the Tevas.

I got a nice pair at J C Penny's in the toddler clothing department. They have velcro over the toe area and at the ankle area, but not behind the heel. We tried some of the 3 velcro tab ones at Old Navy, but the Velcro fastener behind the heel looked a little uncomfortable.

The ones at Pennys were about $12. They had a special going that the 2nd pair was $1 so I got an additional pair for next year.

stride rite has the best shoes for little ones and they are having a 50% off sale going on now. Not sure when it ends but the associate said July 11th. I got home then realized today was the 10th and i hope he didnt make a mistake and say july instead of june. So i am going tomorrow to get my DS (1) the same shoes he has in a bigger size for 19.99 i paid about 35-40 for the older ones. I just dont want to miss the sale and better safe than sorry

edited to say: they have all sizes my 18m old wears a wide and there service is great. I love stride rite shoues because they are comfy and flexible unlike the cheap shoes.

Another vote for Teva's. They are pricey, but my kids LIVE in them in the summer, so I feel that I get my money's worth. And, they're so durable, that I've been able to pass them down from my oldest DD to my youngest DD - only the Teva's and the Lands End snow boots have held up well enough to pass down. My kids wear their shoes really hard.

We LOVE nike's black sandals - they are in the water section but are great for everything! They stay on, dry fast, look like sandels but with the water fabric. We get our at kohls for something like $15.00! My son is about to grow out of his 2nd pair and I am going this week to buy another set for our trio in the fall. LOVE THEM!

They work for most feet because they are so elasticy

We just bought a pair at Target in tan. They have velcroe in the 2 usual places on top of the shoe as well as the hell to adjust for all-over comfort. So far DS has done well with them.
