Kids songs do you know this one?

I was shocked at my 4th graders last night at church when they said theyd never heard "Whadeleeacha" That is a traditional church camp song!!




Of course I had to teach them and the hand signs that went with them they were cracking up!! It was hilarious!!!

So do you know "Whadeleeacha" ?

I had never heard of it, but my ds learned it in kindergarten!

Whadeleeacha, whadeleeacha, doodleydo. Doodleydo. (repeat)
It's the simplest song, nothin' much to it
All you have to do is doodley-do it
Whadeleeacha, whadeleeacha, doodley doodley do.

I think that's how it went ... can't remember the movements that go with it.

I know this one, but I don't recall ever having it associated with our church camps. Learn something new every day...

Never heard of that one. But I know lots of other ones from church and scout camps.

Probably one of my favorites is Mrs. O'Leary. It goes like this.

Late one night, when we were all in bed.
Mrs. O'Leary left the lantern in the shed
And when the cow kicked it over
She blinked her eyes and said
There'll be a hot time, in the old town tonight.
Fire, Fire, Fire
Pour on water, pour on water
Save my children, Save my children
Jump, lady Jump!

The last part comes in different voices/movements. You cup your hands and shout Fire. Pour buckets of water like a fireling for the second. Act like a scared mom with the save my children. Then stomp your feet like firefighters saying Jump lady Jump.

OMG, my kindergartener has been singing that ALL week. It is really catchy too so it has been stuck in my head. My 3 yr old is even singing it! I had never heard it before and I thought I knew them all!!

My brain is filled with useless camp songs from too many summers at Camp Virginia. My sister and I still sing them sometimes to annoy our parents. One that is particularly stuck deep in my memory:

C, that's the way it begins
H, I'm the second letter in
I, I am the third
C, I'm the fourth letter in that word
K, I'm filling in
E, I'm near the N
Oh C-H-I-C-K-E-N, that's the way you spell chicken!
