I would love to have my two kids do the pirate cruise they are 6 & 8. My 6 year old has Type 1 diabetes so obviously she cant be left alone during this. Does anyone else know if they allow a parent to come along due to disabilities or certain conditions?

No. I've read several posts on this, and each time, the parents have been told no.

Relatively certain they don't. I think there are some olllllllld discussions on this.

We called about this a long time ago and we were told that children have to go solo. I told then that our son has unexpected seizures and ask what would happen and who would give him his medication and they told me that if a child needs a lot of medical attention then it is not recomended they attend. If there is a medical issue they will call the EMS team. So for us I did not want to leave him so we have not done this either.

I'm not sure why they aren't accommodating. It surprised me.

They told me that neither my husband or I could come help my child with epilepsy. They told me that it was not to be unfair to children with special needs, but to protect all the other children. They have no idea what your back ground is, are you a sexual offender, a kidnapper, ect so for them it is a mater of safety. My husband is a police officer and so I tried to work that angel, they still would not even let him come.

That is true.
The cruises are actually run under a Day Care license from what I understand and they would need to do criminal background checks on anyone who had any contact with the children in their care. That requirement would be part of their license.

I am going to move this thread from the disABILITIES Community Board to the disABILITIES Board since it is about WDW.

Because they don't want to deal with screaming and very upset parents. :lmao:
Could you imagen what would happen if disabled Johnnie was accompanied by one or two parents and little Rosie, the light of mammies eyes and a very "delicate" snowflake had to go alone.

Besides of that the vessels have a strict passengers limit so for every adult a child has to be left behind.
