Kids Party Question

My daughter thanks the people in person too if they are there when she opens her gifts but she sends out a follow up written thank you-that is the rule here, and most of the people we give gifts to do the same, we always receive a thank you in the mail a week or so later even if they thanked us in person. As far as thanking the kids at the party-well they don't open gifts at parties here, they are packed up as soon as the kids come and brought out to your car for you to take home.

My kids have birthday parties every year. After the party, they are required to hand write thank-you notes. Granted, until kindy, I do them, mentioning the specific gift (I write it down when they open it), but starting in kindy, they start writing them themselves.

It bugs me when I get a thank you note AT the party.

That must be a northern thing. I have never heard of giving a thank-you gift to birthday guests.

I was just going to say the same thing! We had a pool party a few years ago (and yes we always hand out goody bags) and I went to the Dollar Tree and got everyone swim noodles. It was $1 a person and they all walked away happy. I bet the boys would have lots of fun with squirt toys as well.

We have always done some sort of goody bag, but I don't think you need to break the bank to do it.

I love giving out Favors and don't really do the goodie bag thing. Honestly 90% of the time it is junk and candy.

What we do for my DD's birthday is give out Favors. When she was 4 we have out potted plants (She was having a garden themed party- the flowers were so pretty!), 5 we gave out paint sets (Artquest Party), 6 for her pool party I ordered beach towels on Clearance through DisneyOutlet.com. They went over great with parents and were less than $5 a towel.

I think the towels or pool toys would be great but that's up to you. Are you inviting 32 kids or have 32 that RSVP'd? We invited 35 and ended up with 20. Still a lot of kids. Make sure to take a few water proof cameras so the kids can take pictures of each other.
