We are traveling with someone who has a boy who is 11. He is very picky about food. I know they will need to get him an adult DDP BUT if he doesn't see something he likes on the adult menu can he order off the kids menu? I don't see a problem with this as the meal would be cheaper than an adult meal and the adult meal has been paid for.

Yes he can order from the kids menu. When I spoke to my travel agent about this she said they would use his adult credit towards his kids meal. However, the typical kids meal is usually 7.99 so you might just want to pay OOP for his kids meal and save the adult credits for another restaurant. I am not sure if you can trade credits or how that works. I think the server at the restaurant will be able to give you the best advice on what to do. From reading these boards it seems that policy varies from restaurant to restaurant and from server to server. Good Luck !!

we had the same situation the last three times we used the DDP and found a few solutions... just get dd the kids' meal using the adult credit, no problem... ordering an adult's meal but adapting it to dd's palate (i.e. no sauce, mashed potatoes instead of fancier side dish, plain pasta, etc), again, no problem... eating at buffets and all-you-care-to-eat meals, definitely no problem... saving her credit and paying for kids' meal out-of-pocket, no problem but left us w/an uneven amount of credits which resulted in us not using all our credits at the end of our trip, problem! 'cause we paid $7.99 for something that we could have paid nothing for!

we liked tailoring the adult meal the best... esp 'cause it allowed the four of us to try more things... i.e. at LeCellier i ordered the cheese soup, dd the kabobs, dh the shrimp and ds the kids' salad (at the time, dont' know if it's still offered) and we all tried each others... and ds discovered he liked the kabobs, which he never would have tried if dd didn't get an adult's meal :)

We just returned, and we ordered off the kids menu a couple of times for our 11 YO DS and paid out of pocket. Then we used the leftover adult credits for DH and I to eat at Cali. Grill (2 TS credits each) while the kids went to the Neverland Club. We had no problem doing that. The one time we all ordered counter service together, we were able to get him something off the kids menu, though he was technically an adult.
