We used Kids Nite Out for the first time last month and wanted to post a short review. I really debated between Fairy Godmother's and Kid's Nite Out as I'd heard very good things about both. I think I picked Kid's Nite Out because I liked that it was a bit more formal, etc.
Now I am a Child Protection Social Worker, and was comfortable with leaving my DD, 2 1/2, but still a little apprehensive about who would show up at my door. I did specify a female but that was the only request I made. We ended up with a wonderful sitter named Minda and I can't say enough good things about her. She had an early childhood degree and was a 2 year old preschool teacher by day. We ended up talking for a bit and you could tell she loves kids and had pretty much worked with them her whole life. We left instructions of a bedtime and to not watch too much TV and they didn't. She brought a back pack of toys with her and DD had a great time playing and was very sad when she woke up that those toys were gone! She kept a log of everything they did, when she was changed, put to bed, etc. I was very impressed as Minda made some comments about DD personality and development and all her observations were dead on. Fairly impressive for having only spent 4+ hours with her.
I'm a horrible judge of age but I would say she was late 20's. This was good for us as most of DD day care teachers are in their 20 or 30. She came with a cell phone number that we could call to check on her without it being charged to our room and encouraged us to call whenever. I would not hesitate to use Kids Nite Out again and I would for sure request to have Minda again. It was expensive but the time that DH and I had together was priceless if you ask me. If anyone has any specific questions please ask.
