Hey there,

Traveling to Orlando FINALLY in March. It's for our 10 year anniversary and our son's 6th day. A neighbor told me about a sitting service either owned or backed by Disney called Kids Night Out. We're staying off site, and from my understanding, this service sends a sitter out so you can enjoy the parks kids free? Has anyone used this? What's the story? I can't imagine leaving my kids with a total stranger in a hotel room. I probably wouldn't even enjoy the parks!

Thanks for your input!

it is not owned by disney, nor does disney have anything to do with the people who work there.
many people use it and love it, its not something i would ever do.

I have used Kids' Nite Out. As imthatgirl says, it's not Disney-owned or operated, but they do serve Disney resorts and other Orlando hotels/resorts. I used them for a kid-free evening so we could enjoy a nice dinner at Artist Point while we stayed at the WL. The sitter came to our room for a few hours prior to bedtime and entertained the kids for a bit and put them to bed. She took notes and was extremely professional.

I would not recommend that you utilize this service to get in a full day at the parks -- it's just too long for the kids to be cooped up (the sitter is not allowed to take them out of your room). But for an evening or a few hours, they are a reliable service IMO.

WE have used kids night out 3 times now and have been very happy with them. We used them to go to dinner at California Grill. WHile they are not associated with Disney- they are the official disney recommendation for sitters and the only ones that go through disney training. Our sitter was allowed to leave the room (don't know if this has changed in the past year since we were there)- they just are not allowed any water activities like swimming or bathing. WE had ours take our dd to the food court and to theplayground.

They are allowed to take the kids out of the room. We stayed at BWV and our sitter took DS around the boardwalk, on the grounds, etc. But yes, no water activities are to be had, at all.

We used them for the very first time in Aug for DS, 14 months. I was pretty nervous as he has never had a sitter (outside of his 3 days a week at day care) who wasn't a very close friend or family. Our sitter came just a few minutes early, got the rundown of bed times, any medications, if she has permission to leave the room (room key is then needed), and you sign the needed documents that have your destination for the time away, etc on it. I was put at ease by her immediately as she jumped right in with getting DS his dinner going. We talked a bit about her....full time entertainment CM, does this part time, how long she has worked for KNO, etc. I was a bit preoccupied with leaving him our whole time at adventurers club, but when we got back, he was sound asleep, she was reading a book. She gave us the rundown of all the activities they did, books they read...all was good! I definately recommend them!

We also used them once (about 6 years ago) one evening so DH and I could go out to dinner & PI. The woman who took care of our kids was GREAT! Of course I am generally a paranoid person when it comes to my kids, so I actually sat there and talked to her for about a half hour before we left.... she was wonderful! She brought a bag of games and activities to do with the kids and they had a blast!:cool1: It is kind of expensive-but it was really worth it!:thumbsup2

Also, check out the Disney run kids clubs. My two oldest kids went to the Neverland Club (at the Poly) when they were 8 & 5 and that was the highlight of their trip! They absolutely LOVED it!!! In fact, my DD14 told me on our trip last week that she wished she could go back there....and she's 14! LOL!!

We used KNO two weeks ago so DH and I could go to DTD and do some shopping without the kiddos and then go to EMH at MK. The sitter was prompt, courteous and had both kids in bed before 9:00. When we got home she was sitting with her chair in front of the TV watching something. I will definitely use them again on our next trip. It was money well spent.
