I have been checking out menus for our trip to DWD. Some amazing looking food out there, loving the Wave. My issue is the kids meals. We are doing the dining plans so they have to eat off of the kids menu. My kids are great eaters, they love seafood and eat sushi. DS will not be exicited about a week of chicken fingers. The buffets will work well for us since they can eat what they want. Will the chefs ever make a child's portion from the adult menu. I don't think the chefs of DWD are giving kids enough credit.

If you're on the DDP it can be one of the drawbacks to it. You're limited to the kids menus.

If you're paying out of pocket you can just order an appetizer or share your adult meal with your child.

If you read carefully most of the TS rest. do have at least an entree that is appropriate/representative of the adult menu. I don't think my DS got chicken fingers in any of the TS rest. all week.

The TS places all have more than fast food options. and of course the fast food places have fast food choices because they are fast food places.

I think Disney rest. have good choices on their kids menu.

Also, if you're looking for good kid options, there is a sticky on the DDP board that's all about kids CS. One of the first posts is menus from all parks of kids meals that are available on the DDP. You may be surprised, chicken fingers aren't that easy to find. Lots of grilled chicken strips, and other healthier options.

If you look around the menus eg on wdwinfo or allears most have an option your kids will eat.

Don't panic!

Yes they all have the usual pizza, chicken nuggets etc for picky kids.

Cellier has steak for kids, coral reef fish, chefs de france has fish and I think 1 other 'real' entree, tutto has pasta, teppan edo -they can eat same hibbachi as adults.

It is always worth striking up a pleasant conversation with your CM at each TS restaurant to see what kind of flexibility the kitchen might be able to offer. It does vary by restaurant, but we've been delighted by the options our DS was offered over the years before he finally became an 'adult' (10 years old!) by WDW DP standards! So, aside from doing the research that others' have recommended, also know that it never hurts to ask!

If the child's DDP costs only around $10 a night, there is a good reason right there why you can't get a child's portion of an adult meal. You can try and ask for substitutions or special meals. It's up to the restaurant whether they will do it or not.

It doesn't have as much to do with the chefs as it does with what Disney allows them to make available and what prepaying with the dining plan will bear.

You can also upgrade your child to the adult plan by registering him or her as 10 years old and paying the difference between the two plans and a child/adult park ticket.
