We are not doing the DDP--just paying out of pocket. We would like to eat a some table service restaurants. We have a VERY PICKY 12 year daughter who likes "kid food" (mac n cheese, nuggets, etc...) The kids menu states for 3-9 but there is NOTHING she will eat on most adult menus. Can she still order off that? UGHH! Want this to be fun and not stressed out over food.

It isn't usually a problem and, at most TS, no one will bat an eye. QS places don't care at all and adults will often order the smaller portioned kid meals. There may be a non-disney place that will serve an adult sized version from the kid menu and charge a bit more, but she won't be forced to choose a dish that doesn't appeal to her. It will be fine!

My first question would be to ask where you are planning on eating. Then I would look at those places and look at the ENTIRE menu. Both kids and adults. If there is ANYTHING on either one she will eat, you can order it for her. For example, at Le Cellier, there is a side dish of mac and cheese and she can order without bacon. They also have fries on the menu so she can order just the fries to go along with it. They also have almost plain mac and cheese on the kids menu so that's available. They have fresh fruit salad.

The point is - don't lock yourself into thinking "I have to get the complete meal and no subs" If you can point at it on a menu, you can get is ala carte. This ONLY applies at table service places and not buffets and all you care to eat.

At buffets, All You Care to Eat meals, & dinner shows she will be charged as an adult regardless of what she eats. This includes most buffets.
Most, not all , TS restaurants will allow her to order off the child's menu.

Thanks everyone! This is where we are planning on eating: Flame Tree BBQ at AK, Sci-Fi at DHS, Liberty Inn (Epcot) and Tony's at MK.

Flame Tree - that's easy as it's counter service and no one knows who is going to be eating what and quite honestly, I'd just get a couple of platters and share everything that is on there. There is a kids meal of a drumstick that I've often eyed (I'm 54 years old) because it comes with two sides and a drink and that would make me happy.

Sci Fi - shouldn't be a problem with getting the kids' chicken nuggets

Liberty Inn - another counter service so same thing at Flame Tree - no one knows who is eating what

Tony's - she could get the Artisanal Pizza but ask for it with just what she wants - if she's OK with pasta, you can get that just plain

But, at all these places, you can share food among your plates so maybe she will be open to trying some new things. That Flame Tree ribs and chicken combo is good and there's enough to share so maybe she will attempt a piece or two. And, you can tell her my story. I never liked shrimp at all. When we moved to Biloxi, MS (before casinos arrived), my husband was craving them so I got KFC and he got shrimp from somewhere else. He asked me to try one. Um, he had to go out and get more shrimp and the chicken was eaten the next day.

I ordered off the kids menu a couple of times last trip, because I was having appetite issues due to a medication I was taking back then. It was never a problem.

My daughter has been known to order off the kids' menus in the past, even when she was maybe 15 or so? At counter service places, she and I very often will share, as the portions are quite large for lunch and dinner.

As long as you are not on the Dining Plan, ordering a kids meal at any counter service place at Disney World no matter what your age is not a problem. No one knows who eats what once you leave the counter. And, if you are on the Dining Plan, an adult can order a kids meal and a kid can order an adult meal and things will be credited with no problem. But, if two adults and two children order and get three kids meals and one adult meal, that becomes the "problem" for that particular "day".

I meant we order an adult meal to share at counter service places, LOL! Kids meals are decent but not for two to share. Whether you're on the dining plan or not makes no difference though, but yes you're correct, at counter service on the dining plan there is no differentiation between kids and adult meals.

My daughter has had no issue ordering a kids meal at a TS place as well. That was until she was maybe 15 or so, but now she finds items she likes (but we don't do a lot of TS meals - I find keeping reservation times to be a PITA as I like to go with the flow more on vacation).

1) MrsRustyScupper and myself frequently order the kid's meals, with no problems not questions.
2) And, we pay the kid's prices.
3) However, at all buffets-AYCTE-shows, you must pay the adult price.

All quick service credits are pooled. There are no adult and child. So it doesn't matter if you order four kids meals or four adult or a combination

I live in Ocean Springs. We're neighbors!

We aren't doing a dining plan so hopefully she can just get what she wants. THe only reservations we have are for Sci-Fi and Tony's Italian restaurant.

DH and I often order kids meals at QS places because the adult portions are just too big. I haven't ordered a kids meal at a TS restaurant, but I can't imagine it would be an issue if you aren't on the dining plan.
