Hi Gang,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to attach my DSs (10 & 14) room keys to their bodies so they don't lose them when they use them for FOTL. I was thinking lanyards, but I don't know if it would fly off their heads then they do rides that go upside down. Something else I was thinking of was to punch a hole in the key and attach it to one of those key-chain band things that go around your wrist.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try this:
Turn a fanny pack inside out and sew a shoe string to the inside surface. Then punch a hole through the key card, run the shoe lace through the hole and tie a double knot in it. They can keep the keycard in the fanny pack and won't lose it if they forget to put it back since it is tied to the inside surface of the fanny pack. Just make sure the shoe string is long enough for the ride folks to be able to run it through their scanner when needed.

Dave, when I first read your post I wasn't reading close enough and I thought that you meant that the fanny pack should stay inside out. Geez, I need to pay more attention. :teeth:

I'm forever reading something into the posts or the titles of the posts that wasn't intended. My motto is, laugh every day, even if it is at yourself!

I love your idea too ksdave! We have lanyards that we all use but we remind the kids to tuck them inside their shirts on certain rides. Once when my DD did not do this, hers did fly off during the drop at Ripsaw Falls. Of course she panicked and I thought it was gone too, but miraculously it had landed in the boat. We won't be taking anymore chances like that.

When we went we used "lanyards". At the RP, when we checked in, the girl punched holes in the room keys for us, then we ran the lanyard through, tied a knot, and viola.......... it was perfect, and they stayed on!!!! My boys are 18,16, and 4. The older ones rode the coasters all day.......... so you needn't worry that they'll come off. These were a lifesaver, since with fotl you show your card a lot.........

Another dumb question about the room keys: how do they "swipe" to open the door? Do you insert the key into a slot, or is it a swipe type? Only reason I'm asking is if us adults put our room key on a key chain, will it block the room access? Does this make sense on how I'm trying to explain this? :- )

We bought a clear plastic I.D. holder (over the neck) at Walmart. It zippered in our four cards neatly.

I recommend ONE person hold all the family's cards unless you have older kids who are going to split off.

The walmart I.D. holder is in their purse area.

You insert it.

HI, Yes Damo is right, you don't swipe it in your door. If you ask the person at the front desk to punch a hole in it for you, she will do it so it does NOT affect how the card works........... I don't think it would regardless of where you punch the hole. Like I stated earlier, we just put the lanyard through the hole, tied a knot, and wore then around our necks each day............. it was very convienient and very easy. ONE TIP............. make sure your landyard is a little long.......... if you go on a ride that "swipes" it, you'll have to take it off every time, or bend over to reach the machine they use............ for me being short......... it was a pain on occassion............. so a longer lanyard would've solved that problem.

Have a great time.
