Hi all--

We've been to Disneyland a million times (it seems) and little girls everywhere are wearing their Princess dresses. DD4 has 3 or 4 and i haven't seen anything on here about it, so I just want to confirm that little girls wear their Princess dresses at WDW, too.

DD4 has Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, Alice in Wonderland (not a Princess - I know!), and Tinkerbell (also not a Princess - I know!)

Thanks!
JULIE

Going to WDW on 4/1-4/8/2006

Julie I have seen many pics people have posted that show their DD's in princess dresses--I went out and bought my 3 DD's each a dress to have to wear when we go to the princess character meals--So please feel free to join us!

My girls travel with their princess dresses and wear them when we go to a character meal. The first trip we took with the little ones dd (then 4) wanted to bring her princess dress and I told her that they only wore them on tv not in real life. Well that little statement set me back almost $200 (had to buy a new princess dress when we got there and all the other little girls had them on), plus it started a tradition that the 2 dds get a new princess dress at WDW and ds gets to pick something else (last year he picked Pal Mickey). Moral of the story - bring your princess dresses with you!

If your dd's have them and like to wear them go for it! One suggestion I have is to skip the plastic coordinating shoes! I got my dd's some keds type sneakers and painted them with clear sparkles then added fancy laces. I would also suggest a change of clothes in the backpack for later. They may want to play in the playgrounds, fountains or just be more comfortable later in the day. Or if the meal is a dinner comsider brining the dress to change into before the dinner.

Makes great pictures!

They definitely wear them at Disney World (and on some days I wonder how they can stand it in the humidity!!). I like the sneaker sparkly idea, as they will be walking around all day.

Oh yes, you will be hard pressed to look around and not find a princess! I would second the "bring other clothes" suggestion. DD8 wore princess dresses twice, but never made it through the entire morning without being itchy, tired of sitting on her dress, etc.

My princess: dd (3 at the time, now 4) wore her princess dresses to eat breakfast in the castle and also the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway at Epcot. She was Belle in the castle, and when Belle came to our table (dressed in her blue dress with apron) she said, "I've been looking for my yellow dress all morning, and now I know where it is....Ansley borrowed it!" (She snuck a peak at the front page of our autograph book to see what dd's name is! How cool?!??!) :cloud9: When she signed our book, she also kissed the page.

The next day at PSB at Epcot, my dd was Snow White. Snow White also kissed the page with her autograph in the book. It must be "the thing"!! :confused3

One of the days, dd wanted to keep her dress on and one of the days she didn't. I had park clothes in our backpack and was ready to let her do whatever she wanted, as far as the dress was concerned. Our pictures of the breakfasts are some of my very favorite of our entire trip. I LOVED having the dresses with us, and since it was sooooo what she was in to at the time, it was perfect! :lovestruc

My tip: The dress-up dresses fit perfectly into a gallon size ziploc bag. Fold it up, slide it in, and then roll out all the air before zipping it shut. You won't believe how flat it is! Throw in in the bottom of the stroller or your backpack - when you get there, unzip, shake and Wa-La - you've got yourself a princess gown, virtually wrinkle-free!

ITS SOOOOO WORTH IT!!!! :thumbsup2

my dd's just kept them in a backpack and wore them to CRT one day but they did not wear them around all day at the park...they did however buy those incredibly expensive plastic WDW matching Princess Shoes...

they thought touring the park in the dresses was not comfy and it was REALLY hot when we were there and they are definitely thrill ride girls!!

Have fun!

Thanks for all the great responses! :) In the past, DD has worn the dress either alone or with clothes on underneath (depending on the weather -- at Christmastime it was cold!) and we always bring other clothes to change in to. One time my neice (6yo) and DD both had on Belle dresses and went to meet Belle and all three twirled around in their fancy yellow dresses! Very cute! And we never buy the plastic shoes! Too uncomfy! :guilty:

Thanks again!

$200?????? Good grief! Exactly what did you get for $200? I promised my DD I would buy her a princess dress there (she wants Belle), but Tinkerbell may have to deliver a more economical version!

In the past I have bought dresses on eBay from this person http://stores.ebay.com/My-Dress-Up-Trunk

The dresses are soft and not stiff and scrachy like some of the ones at WDW. My older DD ended up wearing her Sleeping Beauty dress all day through Epcot. We have this really cute picture of her running in her dress with both feet off the ground. We had her wear her Tevas with her dress. She didn't think twice about it. I guess in her mind Sleeping Beauty might wear Tevas with her dress. ;)

My younger DD we got her a Snow White dress that she wore only to PSB breakfast and after a bit she took it off. So a change of clothes is a very good idea.

I don't have any girls. You know my main problem with that? I don't have a daughter to put in a Princess Dress and take to WDW. If I was 6 I would be all over that. I love my boys and I am probably a better boy Mom but I want a girl to dress up and take to a tea party.

At Disneyland, the dresses are about $65 but then you add on plastic shoes, accessories (purse, tiara, wand, etc) and the price creeps up. (I think she said she had more than 1 DD, too.)

You can also get these types of dresses at Target and other stores. They're not the same exact ones, but close enough (IMHO). And much cheaper!

My eldest wears hers all the time...sometimes to bed even! I usually bring a change of clothes for her as well!

tho we have yet to go to disney!!! 7 more days!!! YAY!!!

my dd(4yo) is bringing her sleeping beauty dress to wear at our lunch at the castle!!but not for walking around,,too much i think,,
she also wore her princess dress at the princess on ice show,,

i am bringing an extra dress for my niece just in case she doesn't have one,,i would hate to have her feel left out!!!

i would definitly bring the dress!!

Thanks, Julie. We bought Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty at Target and Wal-Mart, but DD wants Jasmine, and neither store had one.

does anyone know what the smallest size dress would be? my DD will only be 2 when we go. I know Toys R Us also sells these dresses if anyone is interested, i'll have to pop in and check out the sizes!

Thanks for this thread! very informative!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread as it is the focus of my current disney planning obsession (we go in December!). I cannot decide if I want to go the economical route ala Walmart (they are actually really pretty--much better than the hand me downs we got from a cousin that originated at the Disney store--you know the two piece deals) or try to get some "deluxe" versions on ebay. THoughts? I doubt my girls would be sad if they were in the walmart versions but I don't know...I want to guarantee the "magic" you know?

Thanks!

I went back and forth about this the first time we went. I didn't want to take some "cheap" dress and get there and all of the other girls had on way more beautiful versions! I went ahead and bought ours at the Disney Store and boy was I glad that I did. The one's that I boght for $25 were way better made and prettier than the one's that they were selling at the parks for $70. In the end I took them as surprises so if the one's I saw in the parks were way nicer than I would have just taken them home and return them. Actually I think that my girls felt a little special that their dresses were different than most of the other's that we saw there.

We usually put their shorts and t-shirts on under and then just take the dress off and store it in the stroller after. One day my (then 2 yo) dd refused to take off her sleeping beauty dress. It was pretty funny. We were sweating like pigs and we all had glitter stuck to our sweaty arms from carrying her in her sparkly dress. She must have really felt like a princess! princess: We have some funny pictures of her passed out in her dress in our room. She never would take that off that day!

This is cracking me up my dd(then 7) didn't want to wear a princess dress to the PSB- until we go to Disney so add me to the $150 later(had to get the gloves crown and shoes)......Belle was born. She LOVED it! Wore it to dinner one night and a teenage girl asked if she could take her picture because she looked just like the real Belle :cloud9: You can imagine how that went over - the dress had to be with us at any moment for any photo ops. So this year rolls around she is now 8 not so much about the princesses..doesn't want to do a breakfast this year...but WANTS TO BRING THE DRESS!! Now I will admit I was indulgant but she my only girl in a family of 3 brothers.
