We have a ADR for Marrekesh for the last night, I thought it would be fun to try osmething new but my DS saw the menu on allears yesterday and had a fit when he saw that the appetizers had cinnamon and powdered sugar on them. Has anyone brought kids ages 8-11 there and how did they enjoy it? I am wondering of I need to change to something else like LTT maybe or CM?

Maybe I am reading your post wrong, but does your son not like food w/ cinnamon and powdered sugar on them? I guess I don't see the problem.

HA! I was at Marrakesh a few weeks ago and ordered that appetizer (the beef brewat and the chicken thing) and it was awful. I HATED the cinnamon and powdered sugar on the food. I thought it was one of the worst taste combinations I've ever had.

My kids did much better ordering the chicken shish kebob. They loved that.

It wouldnt be a prob for him if it was a dessert but it is a meat item...

I am going to see what a few more people think but I am thinking about changing the ADR

As I said in my post above--would he like the shish kebob? You don't say how many kids you have but my 13 year old DD and her friend split the adult shish kebob. It seemed to be enough food for them. Each got one skewar and they split the rice. Would your kids do that? Just a solution if you really want to go there.

See, we LOVE the cinnamon-sugared meats there -- we think they're absolutely delicious and very unique. We don't go to Epcot without eating those at Marrakesh -- in fact, we've gone in and just ordered appetizers when we've been too full of other goodies to eat another big meal. To each their own, I guess :)

Well we have the dining plan so they actually will get their own items my DS11 from the adult menu and DD8 from kids menu. DS has already said that he would get chicken or beef shish kabob for his entree he is just freaked about the appetizers oh and the 7 vege couscous. I guess that is the rice? Does it have alot of veggies in it or is it kind of like fried rice?

I didn't see the 7-veggie couscous. The girls just had a rice pilaf under their shish kebab.

My son loved Marakesh at that age. The brewat with cinnamon and sugar is my favorite food at WDW. Couscous isn't rice, it's small pasta. The veggies are on the top, you can scrape them off if he doesn't like them.

I've ordered the kebabs -- it's just regular pilaf.

As for not liking any of the appetizers -- guess that leaves more for you!

That is my DD's very FAVORITE place to eat! She had never tried anything like that before and she still loves it to this day. We had vouchers and just all ordered 3 different items, 3 different appetizers, and 3 different desserts and we just ate what we liked best. It was more like a buffet than individual plates so you weren't stuck if you didn't like something! and there was so much food, that no one left hungry!

I just went to allearsnet.com and not everything has powdered sugar and cinnamon on it. Is your son so picky he won't try something else there because of this? I say go anyway and look a ALL of your options.

Everyone's tastes are soooo different. We LOVE the Beef Brewett Rolls and the Chicken Rolls are good as well. The Lemon Chicken is yummy and they have this ice cream layered Philo dough thing with honey butter and cinnamon...Oh man....Good Stuff. I think Marrakesh is one of the better sit downs at Epcot and it's hardly ever crowded!

Marrakesh is my husband's and my favorite place also. It's fun to try different recipes. If your son would go with an attitude of being curious, maybe he'd like the cinnamon and sugar. If he doesn't, there are plenty of other interesting things to eat.

I know what you are talking about with the non-adventurous eater, my son refuses to eat ham with raisins or pineapple on it, for example, he says no fruit on his meat, and yet those are delicious, too. (although not served at Marrakesh, this is just a comparison between sons.)

My DS, 11, is a chicken fingers or pizza guy, but I go to the places I want to go at WDW anyway. We are going to Marrakesh in 3 weeks and while we are doing the Chef Mickey's and CP and Sci-FI for him, this one and Biergarten are for me. All restuarants have chicken fingers available if you ask anyway!

My little kids love it. But I wouldn't care if they didn't. "This is Mom's choice, we are going to the Sci Fi for you. If you don't find anything you want to eat on the menu, that is fine, we will pick up a burger for you after dinner."
