Well, well. Our Florida governor has finally done something right.

Kids under 5 MUST be restrained in a car seat or booster now. It had been until the kid turned 4.

But, get this - kids ages 4 and 5 are now required to sit in a booster or car seat - ONLY IF - they are in a car driven by an immediate family member.

Here is a link to our local news station with the details.

Definitely stepping in the right direction, but FL's lackadaisical carseat laws really freak out those who live in stricter states! Can't even imagine how those from Europe feel; my 10 year old, nearly 90 pound, almost as tall as me, DS nearly had to be in a booster for our recent England and Ireland trip!

(actually it's possible he really did need to be in one, because he said the backseat seatbelts went up higher than in the cars we've driven here in the States...but we forgot the bubblebum and frankly I forgot about the issue in the rush to travel)
