do they have to have the kids food like nuggets and such or are they allowed to have the skewered meat and such? We are on the dining plan so I am wondering how this works. My kids would do so much better if they could eat the reg meal not the kids reg stuff.

The main food that is offered is the skewers of meat and the side dishes that are brought out family style. If you have kids that are picky, you can ask for the regular kid meal stuff - but the kids are allowed to eat the main meal and it is covered by the dining plan.

One of my girls loved the Ohana offerings...I had to get Mac and cheese for the other 2. But to answer your question, yes it is allowed. In fact, it's less work for them so probably even encouraged!

Thanks guys my girls really aren't mac and cheese and nuggets kids so I hope I can find things on the kids menus that they like.

I don't recall being offered a kids meal at O'hana. I knew they had one, but I also knew my kids would LOVE the different meats (we're Midwesterners)!

My twins did not care for the main meal. We requested kids' dishes for them - one had grilled cheese and the other had a cheeseburger. If I remember correctly, I believe they had a wide variety of kids' choices. We would definitely go back as the kids all had a great time at Ohana's.

I didnt even know there was any other menu at Ohana?!?! Does anyone know if the kids meals are covered with the DDP? I am a vegetarian and the chef brought out a great meal for me, but our two oldest barely eat meat (they have never even tried steak, wings, etc) but surprisingly our DS12 really liked the wings and our DD9 likes shrimp and tried a little piece of one of the other meats. We all liked the salad, bread, pasta and dessert. But, I think they kids might of enjoyed having a kids meal instead, or atleast our youngest DD23mo would have eaten mac since she does not eat meat at all.

We all enjoyed the atmosphere, meal, have perfect view of fireworks, and the food we ate, it was pretty cool and DH is looking forward to it next time. Not to hijack this thread, just wanted to share our experience.

So, your question, yes the kids are allowed to eat the same meal as you, we were never even handed menus, they just started bringing out food and plates. Have fun!

They have an extremely limited kids menu. In fact, all the restaurants at WDW have a very limited kids menu. Only three or four choices. Ohana's choices were mac n cheese, grilled cheese, I *think* a hot dog, and chicken nuggets. Some of the restaurants have grilled fish or chicken.

I was not thrilled at all with the kids menus there.

When ate there I ordered DS a kid's meal, but he ate the regular meal just fine. (As a side note: I am vegetarian and I was really worried that I would not be able to eat at O'hana. I called them after making my ressie and was offered a choice of 5-6 different vegetarian items. :thumbsup2 They also had my LI DS's soy milk waiting for us. :goodvibes)

"Kid's meals" at Ohana are not officially on Ohana's menu -- if you ask for those items they go and get them from Kona Cafe.

I wish that I had known this. My son ate the bread and icecream, and that was it. :rotfl2:
