Stunning!~ You could put this underneath one of your custom skirts too, and make it super full! How many yards of tulle did you need?

I would love to do it in Halloween colors, black and purple and orange. Trying to think ahead!

Oh gosh if it only takes ten minutes, I could make a red white and blue one!!! Can you share how you did this, or is it copy righted?

I know this wasn't directed to me; but if you look closely at the waistband, you can see how it is done. Determine how large the waist is and cut a length of elastic that length, plus 1 inch. Bring the ends of your elastic together, overlapping that inch, and sew ends together. Your elastic/waistband is now the proper size. Then you decide how long the skirt/tutu needs to be and double that measurement and again add 1 inch. Then simply cut your tulle to that length. Now I can't see how wide each strip is, but I'm guessing 6 - 8 inches. Then, fold each strip in half lengthwise and tie it to the elastic band. Don't tie like you would a bow though. Fold the tulle in half and put the loop part just below the waist. Then pull the ends down through the loop. I hope that makes sense. Just keep doing this until you're done. To make it fuller, just bunch the tulle closer together.

It did help...thanks, but I must tell you I HATE that you could just tell that by looking at it. I am so challenged I would never have been able to figure that out.

Thanks a bunch for posting the directions. I had PM'd Camping Griswalds but didn't get the chance to post it to the boards.
The only thing I did differently was acutally tied the tulle to the waistband instead of looping them through. My daughter has picky fingers and I was afraid that she would unloop them. LOL.
I never thought of putting them under other skirts, but that's a great idea.

The outfit has Minnie with star sunglasses on it so she looks like a movie star. One fabric used on the skirt looks like black and white film strips. Hopefully, this will work this time!

Hi...You can find the elastic thread in any fabric store. I'm not sure if walmart sells it. It's usually near the embroidery thread on a long spool.

I bought some at Walmart today. What is the trick? Just sew straight lines? I want to make a tube top like outfit. The pattern I got calls for preshirred fabric. How much fabric do I need to shirr it for all the way around my DD?

Lovin' all the outfits that have been posted but wanted to add something to the autograph pillowcase dress.

I looove the idea that you all have had but wanted to offer a different option as well. When my kids get their autographs from characters and I make their scrapbook, I trace the autograph on a different page that I can put into the scrapbook without tearing out the original. My idea would be to trace the autographs onto the pillowcase dress and then embroidery over it in the different colors that go with that character. I know you would most likely have to have a steady hand but how cute would a pillowcase dress be with embroided autographs on it! Am I just dreaming that this might actually work?

You could probably use a backstitch to do the names fairly easily. I used to do that on the back of our Mickey ears, like they do at the shops!

I made Alexis a "ballerina" tutu, out of my extra tulle. It was one of the no sew skirts and took a grand total of about 10 minutes, maybe 15.

I showed this to Lydia and she said, "Perfect!"

I was thinking of trying a Pettiskirt, but I think this will do just as well!

Y'all do realize I am blaming you when I get "the LOOK" when I start yet another project. I like the 50's PT outfit idea. We are going there last day so I can jazz her up big time. I am thinkin' Poodle skirt with some sort of cute character shirt..........OH WAIT WAIT>>>>I am blinging a store bought Pluto-T shirt that I was going to wear that day anyway(gotta love rhinestones) How cute would it be to do a skort to match? Kinda copy the Pluto on the shirt or find a pic of him walking so I can put the leash thing on him. (like a real poodle skirt) Hmm ???? What color to do skort...the shirt is a dark (yet bright) blue and the lettering on the shirt is in red. Should I do it in red or pluto yellow. Thinking the red would be easier to find (fact I think I have enuf in my material box) but the yellow would look cute too. Help!
I am not going to poof it out or anything fancy (assembly time and comfort for her is a must) Something she can wear around the park all day is good.

I could even do the gauzy scarf the girls wore in their hair. See you all are gonna get me trouble...LOL

Oh wow, so like a 'poodle' skirt but, with pluto for the dog. That is hilarious and awesome! You have to do it, I want to see it! I don't think a very short full skirt/skort would be too hot to wear all day. It would be adorable.

Quick question for all of you.

I am making my daughter a pillow case shirt (suppose to be a dress but I thought I got a little too tight across mid-section) and I am going to make some of the bloomer shorts like these:

Instead of doing the elastic around the leg, how do you think it would be/look to do a casing instead and run the ribbon through the leg like the pillowcase dress? I hope that makes sense.
