The disney font is actually an embroidered scrapbook sticker from Michaels. I just glued it on with fabic glue. LOL.
I bought a few of these, because they could really come in handy. I think the sticker costs a few dollars.

OMG, you people are brilliant!!!! I would have never thought of something like that. Your creative instincts amaze me! I have to go get some of those now!!

I found this flag site ...
perhaps it may help whoever was looking for flags of different countries :)

Does anyone have the Mickey sewing machine? I've seen it at WalMart. I don't remember the price, but it was expensive. If you have this, is it worth the money? What "extras" can you do?

TIA!

My Mom has the Disney PED180. I think she paid about $900 for it, it was being discontinued for a new larger more expensive model. I went with her when she bought it and the Brother rep was there. She asked him the difference between that one and the one in Walmart. He said they get nearly as many back that they sell from Walmart. It wasn't a good machine, that brother rushed to make it becuse they were approached to make an inexpensive model. Now, I don't own one, so I can't say how true that is. But Mom and I play around with hers. She says she wishes she bought a plain embroidery machine instead of the Disney because it's more limited on what you can use in it. The Cards for it cost about $100. I've bought a few used ones on EBAY, and the last one I paid $30 for it.

For those of you making your own appliques--how do you do the very small areas, like eyes? This is the best thread ever and I wish I could retire and stay home and sew. I want to make one of EVERYTHING.

For those looking for appliques and ribbon this site has a lot of both, jkmribbon dot com

Hope this helps someone,

LOLOLOL I would never of guess.. what a great idea!!!!

What type of fabric glue do you prefer? I used Aileens ( I think thats how you spell it) and it is changes color to the same as the fabric I am putting it on.

Alos where do you find that zig zag trim? Is it sold by the yard? I looked at walmart and that has a small selection and it was not as wide.

Joann Fabrics sells the really wide rick rick by the yard, in the same section as the other trims...last time I checked they had black, white, and red!

The Ric Rac trim is sold in a flat package, usually found near the zippers and thread area in any craft or fabric store/department. They come in varying widths and colors-if you have a Rag Shop near you, they sell it there.

Bestinternetshopping dot com.

She had to pay for overnight shipping, so I don't know how long their regular shipping takes.

The zig zag, is called rick rack. I buy it near the seam binding.
I use E6000 for my glue. It's very sticky, but it holds when washed and dried. I didn't believe it, and made something for my daughter. I wash it and dry it in the dryer, and it's still holding. I usually don't put my daughter's clothes in the dryer, but I'm not sure what other people do. So I wanted to be sure, that they wouldn't be returning an item, if the applique fell off. :scared1:

I'm so excited to show you all, my new spongebob applique that I did this morning. I also made a twirl skirt to match.LOL.
I will post photos tomorrow.

I was wondering about making appliques. Do y'all think this would work:
download a picture
put in my photo editing program
enlarge it
print it out
cut out different parts
use these parts as my pattern

or

take a coloring book page and use that as my pattern.

If you have other ideas,I'd love to hear them. Thanks!!

This is a before picture, when the pieces aren't sewn together or fused to anything.

This is the after picture, after I did all of the applique stitching. I haven't done the stripes on his socks yet though. Anyway, just remember when you do the coloring book thing, your image might come out facing the other way. I use fusible web as tracing paper, then just flip it over and iron it to the appropriate colored fabric.
Good luck, Lisa

Make sure if you use Aleene's glue that it is the kind made for clothing (aka-washable) The regular Tacky Glue by them is not recommended for washable wearables. (it gets gooey in water and takes forever to reharden) It is great for hairbows and things you dont intend to wash and I do really like the fact it dries clear.
