An update on me...thanks to the DIS, I have gotten so many orders for clothes, that I haven't had a minute to create anything new.

I have read every page on this thread. You are all so talented. I know somewhere you had your ebay name, but I can't remember it and I can't bear the thought of reading all of the pages again. Hi, I usually do prewash my cotton based fabrics. There's no telling if they will shrink or not, and I'd rather not find out later. I usually purchase my fabric from JoAnn's. It's our only local fabric store. I do order some online, but sometimes the quality isn't so good. Also, occasionally Walmart does have some decent fabric, but beware, sometimes there stuff is very thin, and does not wear well. If you can see through it, don't buy it!! LOL.

I also have custom hand painted shoes I should take a picture of and throw on here. They are ADORABLE!

Yes, I have a sickness.... I even have custom made jewelry for each princess for each outfit for my daughter. (Bracelet and Necklace for Jasmine, bracelet and necklace for Belle....etc....) I had too many outfits for her for our Christmas trip, I extended our trip!!

I know alot of people said they had problems finding outfits for boys, so I took a few pictures of what I have for my son. (I still have a Sorcerer outfit, a mickey safari outfit, and a mickey christmas outfit yet to be stitched together) Enjoy!

I saw someone on Ebay that did the silouette of Walt and Mickey on overalls,,,was that you?
I have recently been looking for an outline of that. I have a new idea and want to put that in the center.

Thanks so much. I went and bookmarked your page on ebay so I don't forget it. I'd love to get the t-shirts that your daughters are modeling. This will be my girls first trip to Disney. We're going Aug. 13-21. As much as I would love to buy some of the unbelievable outfits seen on here, I just can't see paying $300 either for outfits that they will only wear there. Plus, since I have twins, so that's $600!!! Yikes!! Besides, if I spent that kind of money on an outfit for them, I'd want them to just sit still and not move for fear of wrecking it.

shirring fabric is as simple as sewing a straight stitch. If you want to shirr a garment, I usually do the backs of things. But buy elastic thread. It's in the thread department and usually comes in several colors. Buy white if it's available. You can use this with any color fabric. Take the elastic thread and wind it around your bobbin, be careful not to stretch the thread. Wind it tight, but not tight enough to stretch it. The sew across the right side of the fabric using the longest straight stitch you have. It will automatically shirr the fabric. It does take some practice, but it's not that hard. The hardest thing is getting the shirred lines evenly spaced. Some folks use a fabric pen to mark the lines, I just use the side of the presserfoot as a guide.

Lisa as always your info is very helpful. I have a couple of questions about shirring...

1. How do you know how much fabric to use? Do you measure the childs back, and double it to account for the shirring?

2. Do you only use the elastic thread in the bobbin? Do you just use regular white thread for the machine?

I just wanted to add, that maybe the tee-shirt dresses would be easier than the pillowcase dresses. You know these are when someone buys a cute tee and cuts a few inches off the bottom, then sews fabric to the bottom to make the dress. It's similar to the pillowcase dress, but without all that work to do at the top end. LOL. These were what I first started sewing. And I didn't have to worry about the straps falling off...
An update on me...thanks to the DIS, I have gotten so many orders for clothes, that I haven't had a minute to create anything new. Well, that's a lie, I did sew up a black and white tropical dress with white capris, last night. The material is just GORGEOUS!!! It's a poly/silky blend, and has touches of sparkle through it, I will finish it later and post some photos. It was sooooo expensive.....Almost $20.00 a yard...egad!! The white linen I used on the pants was 9.99 a yard...yikes.. But it looks great.. I can't wait to finish it. I may also make a hairband with this one.
Can you tell I'm excited...

Congratulations! I spent the better part of the weekend reading this thread and I've been inspired (like so many others) to get my sewing machine back out. I've made home decor before, but I'm going to try making some outfits for DD while I wait impatiently for our next trip to WDW.

me again! hope you all arent thinking "great- its the limited sewing ability diser who is always asking for help and patterns!" sorry! i really do try to do things on my own first, then i beg for your help! ive made a few pillow case dresses for upcoming trip and a pillow case shirt (shortened the dress!) to wear with capris. i used a pattern i had for the capris #6467- not sure but i think simplicity (dont feel like digging it out right now, but i remembered th # and i thought i put it in there to validate my story! )
anyway, this pattern has the capris gathering up on the outside of each leg instead of being straight across....does that make sense? im looking for a capri pattern thats straight across but maybe ruffles at the bottom. the ruffle look i think i can acheive by placing a piece of elastic on the inside "around" the leg. am i right? any tips/suggestions, pattern #s would be appreciated! thanks- AGAIN!
