Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes

I've become a little obsessed my self. There is something about dressing
a little one up at Disney World whether it be a Cinderella costume or handmade outfit. They just look so cute.

Can anyone tell me the minnie dot fabric from Hancock's Fabric
is it a better quality then Walmart or JoAnn's Fabric? I was also reading
on line about a Michael Miller fabric that is a perfect match for Minnie/Mickey outfits too. Does anyone have any experience with fabrics out there?
If I'm going to make some outfits I want to try the best I can.

Thanks!
Beth

Yes, I do sell on Ebay. I usually have at least one outfit listed. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to list my user id, but it's Irelandscastlecreations. Anyway, I do have an embroidery machine, but use a simple satin stitch for the appliques. I used to do more embroidery with the machine, but prefer a more homemade look, go figure...LOL. I try to make one of a kind outfits. I see a lot of Minnie, stuff that all looks the same to me. I love to sew and wish I only had more time to do it!! Lisa

What I would love to know is how you do the face detail. With the satin stitch as well? I am a pretty good seamstress, but I have never tried this. Any tips?

For the face, I usually handsew the detail. I use satin stitch only on the larger areas. For the eyes, and mouth I always use a handsewn stitch.

I am considering makiing myself a tunic style top with some very colorful Mickey head fabric I got at JoAnn's. But I am a little aprehensive about wearing it. I don't want people looking at me like this :scared:

I found a pretty red headband with white polka dots at Lane Bryant very Minnie Mouse. I thought it would look cute with a white top.

I also got an animal print headband to wear to the Animal Kingdom.

Any other Moms getting in the spirit? I am going to sew DS some shortalls from some blue Mickey Head fabric I also just bought.

Where did you get the fabric for the pillowcase dress? I just love the scattered Mickey pieces. I can see this being darling in person!

Thankyou CastleCreations! I am going to have to give that a try, just as soon as I get dd's Easter dress (smocked bishop that will be at least 2 weeks late!:goodvibes ) done.

Thanks for the tips

Thanks, it was a sheet set that Disney sold last year. I purchased a twin set and had my mom make this dress. We have plenty left over for the next few years to come! Maybe you could still find this on ebay?:goodvibes

just had to vent....Ebay is giving me trouble...arrgh....I just have to ask...why me? It's that kind of week. Hopefully I will have some pictures of a Cinderella outfit that I just finished, and wanted to list, but now with Ebay being not too nice, I won't be listing it. Arrgh....:sad2:

I made this black t-shirt for the cruise, just drew on a Mickey head and attached some bling with fabric glue. It wasn't too over the top and I got lots of compliments. Just do what feels right to you and don't worry about other people! :cool2:

Actually the problem with Ebay is that they said my account it linked with someone who's been suspended. Someone that I don't know. It's so frustrating. So they suspended me until I fax them copies of utility bills and my driver's license, to prove I am who I say I am. After doing some research, I find that by far, I'm not the only one this has happened to. Anyway, I just took some quick photos outside. Hope you all like them.

That's been happening more & more recently. That happened to me, and quite a few others I know. Recently, too.
Most of it was frivolous knit-picking ... unjustified, too - even when there's nothing wrong with the item or listing.
It was as if someone had nothing better to do.
(like : Using printed fabrics in an ooak, hand-made creation is legal & totally okay. + no copyright violation or misrepresentation in the listing or item & it still got flak.)

That linked-to-other-seller thing sounds strange. Wouldn't ebay know you aren't that person = I mean, don't we have to have a credit card to get an ebay seller account, right? And our personal data is all verified correct when we got the credit card to begin with, right? ... Did this other seller try to snag your id/info? ... scary. ... Good Luck with that! Anyways, I hope it gets better for you & fast.

I had easter/spring outfits lined up, that I wanted to sew&share, but I have been ill & am not up to sewing. Hopefully, soon. :)

I want to attempt to sponge-paint my own polka-dot fabrics = saw that awhile back & loved it! can't find the pix now. :( It had a romantic, dry-painted, aged print, scrapbook-ish feel to it. Quite lovely on pastels.
