Off topic, but will you help me pleae?

DD and I are having a "Mommy and Me" trip . She is three. I am looking for a dinner for our first night.
Thanks so much! To keep this on topic, we have several Mickey outfits, a Nemo, a Cinderella, a Mary Poppins, and my personal favorite outfit Little Einsteins. Oh and fabric for Pooh, Epcot........

We usually do dinner with Cinderella at Park Fare. This year we went to the Castle to have dinner. We loved it, but Kirsta missed seeing Prince Charming. I'm sure it will be a great debate for next trip.

Here is what I did this afternoon. The hardest part was sewing on the buttons. I have some sort of button problem and have the worst time sewing them on. It didn't help that it is 85 degrees here and the needle was slipping out of my sweaty fingers! Oh well, Megan liked it. One more to go for Jacob!

th_100_2007.jpg
WOW - still 85! Super cute sweatshirt!

I've missed posting lately..I've kept up pretty good with the pages, but just haven't had the time to really post and reply. Our Disney trip is in one week and I have exactly nothing finished for it...I'm beyond depressed. But it will be okay, because we'll be in Disney and I can't wait for it!!
I kept thinking "She's been wearing a crown for 11 years? That's a long time, I wonder if it's silver with lots of jewels, and how does she keep her daughter from wearing it and does she only wear it to Disney World?" :rotfl2: Yes, I'm a bit slow.
I'm sorry you have to have so much dental work done. I hate that!!!

I love that baby Jesus in the manger!!! And the other fabrics for jammies are my favorite types of colors, I love them...

 enjoy your trip!
LOL - on the crown - I do tell the kids I am the Queen! Thanks for the compliment on the dress :)

Hello :yay: ... we are back from Playhouse Disney Live. It was a cute show and the girls really enjoyed it. Here are some pics of their outfits and some from the show! :goodvibes

And there you go! :santa: Brrrrrrrrrrrrr, tonight we were going to go to a parade but I couldnt face standing in the cold (35 degrees out here) for three hours. I'd much rather be Dis'ing :disrocks:
Looks like you had a great time - awesome job on the outfits!

I have been sick the past two weeks and not done a thing! I am so behind on reading but scanned most of the pictures! I love the new outfits!

I also started reorganizing my sewing stuff, switched rooms and got new bookshelves and a dresser, but I haven't done anything with it! That was the week before we went to disney in September!
 - glad you are feeling better

Hi all! Great work everyone has done with the Christmas customs. I haven't decided if I'll do them or not since we'll be at WDW for 7 days during December, they wouldn't get to wear them much.

We went to see HSM on ice today. The girls wore their customs that they will also wear to MGM.

th_HSMIce004.jpg

th_HSMIce036.jpg

And thanks to all of your advice I was able to get a ticket for my other daughter to see Hannah Montana:woohoo: . I will be taking 5 girls to see HM on Mon night. This should be interesting.

I sure LOVE those outfits! Have fun at HM - we had a BLAST!

Oh Oh, I thought that the meal at Park Fare was with the Mary Poppins and Mad Hatter bunch? I thought it was for breakfast only? More meals with the Princeses can't be all bad! Tell me more!!

Okay, thanks to you guys I finally finished the I Spy bags I started several years ago!   I like them a lot better than my original pattern, especially the "handles" Thanks for the info in your bookmarks Teresa! I used regular fabric instead of fleece. Both sides are lined so through the window you see the same nice print as the outside. The vinyl is sandwiched between two cotton layers. (still need to laminate and attatch the lists of things to find)

DSCN2989_edited-1.jpg

THESE ARE SO GREAT!!! Handles, Jam-you're a genious! I can't wait to get these made for my kids.

HI EVERYONE! I'M BAAAAACK! We got home last night so today as you all know is cleanup day as I brought home a mountain of laundry! We had a BLAST! And are already planning our next trip!:) I just wanted to pop in and say hi and I will post pics as soon as I get a chance! Also, this Year of a Million Dreams thing is AWESOME! We got suprised with something FIVE TIMES!!!!   i COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! It was sooooo cool! Hope you all didn't have tooo much fun without me! Well I will post again soon after I get done with all of the cleanup and try to get some pics uploaded tooo! It's nice to be back!:goodvibes

YAY!! Glad you're back. Don't break an elbow or anything w/ the laundry and hurry so we can see pics of those 2 angels and their cute clothes!!

I have the pieces of Little's christmas skirt cut (except the tulle) and am going to attempt to get it started. I am NOT planning on finishing it. I am going to take it NICE AND SLOW and sew everything together right the first time:rotfl2:
We stopped by the guy who fixed my sdewing machine before, he said to bring it by and he'd take a look at it since it only worked for a few days after he fixed it. He thinks it's no big deal, we'll see. I hope it's fixable. I can't afford another one just yet (though I looked at an electronic Janome w/ about 60 stitches that I just LOVED) On the upside he has a used serger coming in next weekend and is holding it for my MIL, so I may have a serger at my disposal in the near future-YAY:cheer2:

gotta go sew...t.

Can someone help me? I've been trying to do the shirring on this peasant blouse for dd9 for a stinkin' week now. I finally put it away couple of days ago because I was so tired of messing with it, I picked it up this afternoon to finish it and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I made one for dd5 and it came out GREAT. It was easy to do, didn't rip out one seam. NOT ONE. This one, I'm on try number FIVE to do the first row of shirring across the neckline.

In some places it's nice and stretchy, in others it's so tight I can literally rip the thread by pulling it. I hand wound the bobbin, a little tight, but not too much (at least I think I did), I'm using a stitch length of five and tension set at 9. In some places, it looks like the elastic is getting pulled through to the front of the fabric, so I adjusted the tension a little (down) and that made it worse.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I throw this whole thing in the trash?

Thank you so much!
Maggi

When the shirring was giving me fits before, I had to adjust the bobbin tension. If you have the kind of bobbin case that comes out, you hold it by the thread and give it a little shake. It should go down about an inch and stop. If it's too tight, it won't move much, then you turn the little screw to the right, just a tiny bit. If it goes too far, turn the screw to the left. Keep testing until you get it right.

We really like the Garden Grill at Epcot. They have farmer Mickey, Pluto and Chip and Dale. Plus the whole restaurant spins. It is one of our kids' favorites.

We loved Garden Grill too! I was afraid I would get queasy eating in a spinning restaurant, but it was fine. The characters spent a lot of time with us. We practically had to shoo them away so we could eat! And, the food was really good. A plus for a character meal!

Ugh. I bought a ruffler foot this past summer. I just pulled it out to use it and have figured out it's the wrong one!! It has the screw on foot (I think that's what it's called) and I need the snap on foot! I even told the lady exactly what machine I had. Of course, the place I bought it is all the way accross town and I'm sure I don't have my receipt anymore. I'm soooo bummed. I was ready to learn how to use it and now I have to buy a new one!!!

Are you sure it's wrong? With our machines, we have to unscrew the bottom part of the shank, and then screw the ruffler foot on. Is there a screw about halfway up the shank on your machine where you can take part of it off? I don't know that I've ever heard of a snap on ruffler foot.

You don't mean a gathering foot, do you? That would snap on and it looks like a regular foot. The gatherer is a big ole contraption.

Oh Oh, I thought that the meal at Park Fare was with the Mary Poppins and Mad Hatter bunch? I thought it was for breakfast only? More meals with the Princeses can't be all bad! Tell me more!!

I forgot to say how happy I am that you are going on your girls only trip!!! You guys will have so much fun!

I hope he gets it up and running for you!!!

You should do the eye spy bag, it's whip it up kind of project!

Megan just ran in here (this is verbatim): Mom, I am going to tell you a great joke.

Me: Uh, ok.

Megan: The mouse ate the crocodile, ha ha ha ha ha ha! Wasn't that funny?

Me: If you say so.

Megan: I do! I really do!

That's funny, I was going to suggest that, even though I've never been! But after much thought and mind-changing we do have an ADR there in January. I'm glad to hear your kids like it!

Don't you love 5 year old jokes! You tell Megan that I found it very funny! I'm sure Lydia would too.

Which reminds me, my BABY is going to be 5 this month! :sad2: Five sounds SOOOOOO much older than 4.

I think I'm going to have to go find a tissue now. :sad2:

I had my niece today, the one who pukes at the thought of wearing custom clothes. I took one of you all's advice and allowed her to pick out some of her own fabric today. We decided to sew a purse together. She had a lot of fun and really liked how it turned out. I really wanted her to pick some Christmas fabric, but of course, she refused. :sad2:

Anywho, here are the pics of the purse...

th_PC010129.jpg

th_PC010122-1.jpg

After the purse was done, she decided she'd like an H on the front out of ribbon. That would have been soooo much easier if I hadn't already sewed the purse together. I did my best, but it's pretty crooked. This was my first time using my new sewing machine I got on black Friday. I think I did the satin stitch decently along the H.

Not a clothing item, but we also made this wreath together today...

How Fun! Looks like you and your niece had fun - glad you found something she likes to sew! Love the Mickey wreath!

I bet the kids LOVE them!

I just love t-shirt dresses, too! They do go so fast and easily give a feeling of accomplishment.
I see you took that back - LOL! The top is actually made with a cream colored corduroy - as is the bottom ruffle.

haven't posted that much in a long time... but I have kept up reading posts and getting inspiration. We leave in 10 days and I still have a couple more outfits to make. Here are some pretty bad pics of what I have been up to lately. Some are for Disney, some are not... The one with the pink bows isn't done yet -- we (DD and I) are deciding on which bows look better. The 50s style mickey head is for Prime Time Cafe.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the inspiration you have provided. Thanks everyone and sorry for the very long post

WOW - great job! I really  the 50's diner fabric! Have a great trip!

GREAT outfits the last few days -
Didn't make it to seaworld this weekend instead hit Busch Gardens - it was still a lot of fun and today we're heading to downtown disney for some shopping.
This is the little dress/top she wore to Busch Gardens I found it at Salvation Army - for $2.99 it's a BEAUTIFUL handmade dress that I thought was perfect for Busch Gardens and then cause I bought it on Wednesday it was 1/2 off. So it was only $1.49! I couldn't have bought the material for $1.49!!!! I was in there looking for overalls and jeans to butcher which I found - but this was the best!! And it's fully lined with a giraffe print material as well!!!

Very cute - what a bargain!

I konw you weren't asking me, but that's never stopped me from answering on here before, right??? :rotfl: When Arminda was about 6 or so, she had to have a tooth pulled. I took her in, they numbed her mouth, and yanked it out. They then put her tooth in a little box for her. On the way out, I handed her the box and said, "Here's your tooth." She looked at me completely suprised and confused and said, "WHAT tooth???" She had NO idea that they had just pulled her tooth out! We laughed about that all the way home!

LOL - sounds like Noah. He had to have a baby molar pulled because the permanent tooth was "stuck" in it. He was so numb and gassed up he didn't even know they had pulled it already when he asked me when they were going to do it!

Welcom back!

All of this fabric was crammed into about 15 different Rubbermaid containers!

Now it is all neatly folded and organized, at least in my mind!

I won't have to juggle falling over containers, and now I have lots more room to work!

I used some of the containers to store all the trims, ribbons, and buttons that we have accumulated.
Very nice! I saw your Mickey Head templates over to the left. Very organized and looks great! Now what are you going to put together?

This is just a shameless post..of my two (not so) little one's on Santa's lap.
I like the photo, but Santa is doing some weird Winky thing...weird..:confused3
Very cute. I love the gingerbread outfits!
Better late than never...here are a couple of outfits that I made for my DD and my DN for Thanksgiving. They both loved them and loved that they got to match with each other. They are very close to each other (18mos difference), probably because my sister and I have a relationship like Teresa and Heather do, so they hang out all the time. We always joke that our kids act and argue more like brothers and sisters than cousins!:rotfl: My sis and I were both very sad that our 3rd kids were both boys and that our girls won't get to have a relationship with a sister like we did. So we both think that it is great that they are so close!!!

Pics are done uploading so here we go...

I Love the little dress! It's So cute with the brown leggings

Finished the other sweatshirt, so here are both of them:

100_2009.jpg

Jacob said that he will wear it to Disney but not to school, oh well! I wish we were going earlier in December so I could do Christmas cards, but that can't wait until the 21st!

I love the second sweatshirt! They look very cute together.

OK, I want you all to please be honest. I think maybe I have been looking at this too long. Does it look like a Mickey head with a Santa hat on? I want to make sure before I make three more!

I promise my feelings will only be a little hurt if I need to start over. :headache:

Those are really cute shirts you've done! I've been reading about your neighbor whose daughter you made that awesome outfit for in you siggy, hoping she's had the good sense to finally come and say thank you for it. If not, I'd help you go on a recon mission to get it back! It's an awesome outfit! The only other thing I could think of, is maybe her dh stuck it somewhere and it's buried beneath a pile of stuff....my house always has piles. My dh once forgot to tell his first wife (when they wer married) a relative of his had died. :lmao: Men just aren't good at that sort of thing. I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt!

Thanks! I have been trying to work up the nerve. I keep telling Megan to ask her friend about the outfit to find out if she even wore it, but she either forgets or doesn't care (more likely) so I am not getting any info from her. I will try to casually bring it up tomorrow.

Fortunately, my DH is very good about things like this. My dad, on the other hand, is terrible! I called their house to tell them some information about my DH's relative and he kept that info all to himself! He didn't think to pass it along to my mom or sister.

It turned out great! And thanks for the sewing machine sympathy. I'm pretty bummed out. DH is not going for the idea of buying me a new one. I had some money put away to buy a new camera, now I just have to decide which I need more. And you need to go jump in your pool for me! We got about 8" of snow today.

Wow, my kids have never seen snow. I think we would like it for maybe a couple of days, LOL!

I hope everything works out with the sewing machine. Being a scrapper, I know the importance of having a good camera so it's a tough choice.

WOW - still 85! Super cute sweatshirt!

Thanks: it is hot! We were at a birthday party today and sweating! I am ready for some cool weather.

We loved Garden Grill too! I was afraid I would get queasy eating in a spinning restaurant, but it was fine. The characters spent a lot of time with us. We practically had to shoo them away so we could eat! And, the food was really good. A plus for a character meal!

I love the food there too! I think Chip and Dale are the best interactive characters. The kids just love them.

:sad2:

Awww, you will make it. Look at me, besides quoting nonsensical jokes on the internet to virtual strangers, I am fine!

I love the sweatshirt! I think my DD would wear something like that~!

Thanks! She might wear it to Disney, if not to school, LOL!

I love the second sweatshirt! They look very cute together.

Thank you! I was kicking myself for not using a darker green as the tree, but now that I look at them, I don't think the darker green would have looked as good on the navy sweatshirt. I do wish I would have moved the tree up more on Jacob's. Oh well, if I think about it too much, I will see lots I could have done it make it better!
