Does anyone know where Heather is lately????

WOW, I spend a day and a half off sewing my last two Halloween costumes and of course I have to play catch up for a couple of hours! I am so in on the fabric exchange! Heading there next...

Great outfits as always, I love the Cinderella outfit Heather it was worth the wait on pictures! All of the new Christmas things are very cute too. I guess I should start on that now, I am putting the finishing touches on my DD Halloween twirl right now, so she will of course only get one use out of it. Hopefully it will still fit her next year...

Just wanted to let you all know that I had to go to JoAnn this morning for some velcro for DS costume and ALL of the Halloween fabric is 70% off!!! I of course picked up 5 yards of the mickey print and 2 yards of minnie orange dot. I only paid $2.39 for the mickey print and less for the orange dot. I couldn't pass it up. I am also HOPEFULLY going to make it to WDW next October so I can make something with it, or just add it to my stash never to be seen again! :lmao:
OT-What are the parks like in late October?(week before Halloween) Are they busy? Last time we went in September and didn't wait in line for anything so I am hoping for low crowds!(I know I could look this up but I know that a few of you guys just got back so I want first hand knowledge!!!!)

as far as MNSSHP crowds go. Earlier in the night they are a little more crowded. You can use your tix to get into the park starting at 4:30 and a lot of ppl w/ tiny tots go early the about 10 the park starts thinning out. We didn't wait for more than 15 minutes on any ride and never have. we walked right onto pirates. But heres the inside scoop on MNSSHP...WDW does a big marketing push locally for MNSSHP so the closer you get to Halloween night the busier it gets Halloween night is almost always sold out. Locals usually go on Fri or Sat nights so kids don't miss school so your better off staying away from those days later in Oct. We've gone as early as the 13th and as late as the 29th and always had a great time. Of course I utulize parade and show times to get in shorter lines, cause I really don't care to stand around to watch a parade. But there are 2 so if you catch one you can use the other as a chance to walk onto some rides close to the parade route. Like if you get to the haunted mansion just before the afternoon parade (on a regular day) you can walk onto the ride cause everone got all excited by the parade set up that they rushed to get a good spot .

And next year our costumes will include sensible shoes. Cause YES, I did wear those pumps all night!!!

hope this helped.

Guess I know where I'll be tomorrow!! Speaking of the fabric Exchange, the groups have been choosen and you can pick which group(s) you want to join!! We'll be adding more groups if some of them fill up!!

Wow, those are some great outfits!

Castle, I love the EPCOT ball outfit that you made. It's awesome (like anything you make isn't, you rock!)

Surprisingly I'm not in much pain today, I haven't taken a pain pill yet but I'm going to with lunch so I can get a nap in.

DH is going to bring a little desk over from our storage area and I can start getting the new sewing space together. He, of course, decided that I was getting it for him so he could work from home! I said I'd share the space but I wanted it for sewing so I didn't have to take over the dining room on a permanent basis.

My MIL sent me flowers today. I've got to go put them somewhere I can appreciate them and where the three year old can't. :)

I'm going to gather some fabric today, I've got to get moving on a bunch of outfits. I'm bummed I never got around to doing DD's Mickey Halloween twirly shirt, I guess we'll just have the fabric for next year.

Thanks for the info T! I always like an opinion from someone that I know!!! Overall are the parks less busy during October? We would be there from Oct. 18-Oct 26 next year.

I can't believe that you wore those shoes in MK!!!!!

I wanted to ask whoever posted the pics of the pillows(sorry I don't remember who but I was frantically trying to catch up on the thread and wasn't reading very well:rolleyes1 ) how they made them! This is a great idea and I was wondering how hard they were and how they were made! IF you could let me know, PLEASE:flower3:! TIA.

I made the pillowcases. The ones I made are travel size. Here are the instructions:

Main fabric: Cut 14 in x 27 in (the 27 in part will be folded in half, with the fold being the top of the pillow)

Accent fabric: Cut 9 1/2 x 27 (this will be doubled over so the finished band is 4 3/4 by 27.

First sew the seam of the accent fabric and then fold in half. You will have a tube that is 4 3/4 x 26.

Put the applique on the pillow and sew in place. Sew the bottom (long side) seam.

Sew the accent fabric to the main fabric (like sewing 2 layers of a twirl skirt).
I top stitch the accent fabric along the seam (or add ric rac).

Sew up the other end of the main fabric (the short side of the finished pillow).

Voila - a pillowcase. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I'm off to my little quilt shop in town to see if I can find one more sock monkey fabric to go with what I have because I am feeling like making something super tacky (you know in the cute way!) today!!!!!!!
]!

Will you let me know if that quilt shop has any sock monkey fabric left? I may have to make a trip down that way if they stilll have some.

Yes. We always enjoy the parks at this time of year. and yes I really did wear those shoes in MK.

I would like to post a tip that even if your trip is months away, you should start now with your sewing! Our trip felt like so far away for so long and now I'm 11 days out  and feel like I'm never going to get all the projects finished! I have AK outfits finished for both kids but no pics. I do have a pic of a Minnie Tshirt dress.

I plan on adding a bow to the MH, and rickrack to the hem of the skirt.

I really liked how it turned out and plan on making more tshirt dresses for next summer!

I love this:love: Your daughter is adorable!:cutie:

 Thank you so much! The problem is that she knows she is adorable and is already quite a diva at age 2!

I have a 4 year old just like that! She will only wear skirts or dresses because otherwise she will not "look like a princess" and "no one will tell her she is beautiful" according to her!:confused3

We also went to a Halloween party Saturday. I don't have a good pic of the whole family (I'll TRY to get one tomorrow), but the girls were really cute & they're what's important anyway.

We were all Star Wars characters. I was Princess Leia 1st movie white dress. DH was Han Solo. DD1 was Wicket.

DD4 was Princess Leia in the Ewok village.

Dh's goal is to get a pic of all of us in costume with the cat beacuse the cat's name is Chewie. No we aren't ALL Star Wars obsessed, just dh. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi Everyone!
We just got back from our too short vacation! Now it's time to plan the next one!
Here are a couple of photos. We did Epcot, MK for MNNSHP, and MGM.
The weather was iffy at best all weekend. Yesterday it actually rained all day. Just a drizzle but we were damp all day..Yuck
Anywho, here are a few pictures...

That is our MNNSHP day. Notice our decorated window in the back.

We just returned from WDW and I wanted to share a few of our customs.

I bought these oufits:

I love all the outfits! I took a quick look at your album and I just love all the pics....somehow when we went we didnt get very many pics in MK. Anyways, I just love your cutie pie girls!!! :cutie:

Heather, I love your Cinderella dress! So creative and beautiful.

Anyways, I was wondering if it was for your trip in the spring or for Thanksgiving and then I started wondering if you had a pre-trip report for your big family trip?

I think a big family trip would be wonderful for our family so I was wondering if you or Theresa had details about how the planning was going?

Oh yeah and tell us more about the watergate cake? Care to share your recipe?
I would love to do a pre-trip report with Teresa! Our next trip is from May 3-17. So, we were thinking this would be a little bit early to start it. I actually just made Tessa that dress to wear this fall. But, since people mentioned it, maybe she should wear it to the princess meal! We're not going to the castle to eat (I don't think, Teresa is in charge of that), but we're doing Akersush, I believe. As for planning, we set the dates more than a year before hand. We're renting 2 houses in the Orlando area, right across the street from each other. This is a lot cheaper than a hotel for large groups!

I'm just checking in to say hi to everyone! I've had company and will continue to have company until Thursday so my time here will be limited, but I wanted to stop in and say hello. I'm about 20 pages behind, I can't imagine how many I'll be behind by the time Thursday comes!
HI!!

I am so sappy that everytime someone praises one of Heather's creations, I get so proud!!
 I just love you!!

You should be! She does susch a great job on everything she does! ANd, if truth be told, we just love that you BOTH are here on this thread sharing your sisterhood and friendship with us all!! You girls bring a very special feel to this thread... so..... THANKS!
Thank you karebear! We were talking about you today. All good things!

It looks great and I LOVE the sunglasses! She's such a little doll! I can't wait to see a clearer pictures of those wings!

I really love all of your creations!! The stuff you bought was cute, too! Thanks for sharing your little cutie with us!

All of the outfits are great! I especially love those costumes!!

Every time you post a picture on your deck, I think it's mine! I have the rocking chairs to match that deck furniture. Great job on the costumes!

Love the BIG

You look great! That costume looks like it would be difficult. Was the blue fabric hard to work with?

And to the sisters: I don't get annoyed by you at all! I have 3 of my own sisters so I honestly don't know if I even notice the difference all that often. You know sisters are always RIGHT THERE:headache: and sisters are alwaysRIGHT THERE:hug: !
Aw thanks! Honestly, there's a LOT more  than :headache: in our relationship!! She's really a great sister!

Does anyone know where Heather is lately????
I'm here, don't get all impatient on me!! I sometimes only have a few minutes to check the boards while Sawyer takes his nap. Some days I stay up WAY too late, just to see what you ladies are up to!

What a cute dress and what a cutie wearing it! You're right about starting your sewing early. I'm thinking Teresa and I should get started on the ice cream outfits for Beaches and Cream soon!

These costumes are GREAT!!! The kids look so cute. If you get that family picture taken, make sure you post it!

ETA: I did a search for "Kid's sewing machine" on amazon.com and they have ALL sorts of kid's sewing machines. I guess I never knew these existed anymore!

Hey, look what I saw in the Lillian Vernon catalog yesterday!! It's also on lillianvernon.com These would make the cutest gifts for our kids (ages 8 and up). Too bad Tessa's a little young for these!

020121.jpg

It's $39.98 and here's what it says about it:
The perfect "first" real sewing machine by White handles grown-up chores, too! Made to last with tough plastic exterior, 7 all-metal gears. Large space for guiding fabrics. Locking straight stitch for sewing projects, repairs. Threaded and ready to use, has built-in bobbin winder, foot pedal, 4 metal bobbins (3 with white thread, 1 with black), removable spool holder, how-to's. 4 "AA" batteries are not included, but AC adapter is. Lightweight mini, 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 8 3/4" high. Ages 8 and up, adult supervision suggested.

After I saw that, I looked at target.com and they have this:
41EWC5TG3SL__SS260_.jpg

This one is pricier at $59.99.
• Great first sewing machine for budding dressmakers
• Features drop-in bobbin, easy lay-in threading and 3 stitch types: straight, zigzag and reverse
• 4-point feed system keeps fabric straight and flat as you sew
• Made of high-impact ABS for extra durability
• 9Hx5Wx11.25L"

This thread is so hard to keep up with!!! Everyones customs and costumes look adorable! Happy Halloween and Happy Sewing!!!!

GRRR...Okay since we weren't going to be able to go to the parks I thought..well, the AK dress is done (she can wear that to the petting zoo @ Ft. Wilderness, sure) the minnie outfit is done, maybe we'll get to MK one day soon... Epcot outfit, still sitting in my sewing basket (formerly a laundry basket, now home to all fabric, scraps and patterns-though it's clearly overflowing) so why not save the epcot fabric for next year and save some money then....

My inlaws were going to buy us passes for this week but it's been so crappy we've stayed in mostly. But today they decide the weather looks like it'll be decent so we can go to a park on thursday. Hmmm...one day, one park....We did MK for MNSSHP, I hate to buy one day one park tickets to MGM b/c we only like to do a few things there and hate to get one day one park tickets to AK cause their only open 9-5 (my optimal WDW plan includes doing these parks on the same day,one that's a late EMH for MGM) so what park would we go to? Epcot, naturally

GRRR!!!Of course she'll wear her minnie outfit, but still! I mean c'mon can like 1 thing go right on this vacay??
okay enough complaining, We're going to Seaworld tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to post pics of Lily in her halloween twirl. Epcot on Thursday!!!
