:cool1: I agree...all the new outfits are DARLING!!! I especially love that new Christmas dress Tom did! That is amazing!!! Anyone else do any special Christmas customs yet?

I bought my first knit fabric yesterday. When I get home today I'm gonna try to start figuring out how to make this Olivia pattern. Has anyone every worked with knit? Any suggestions? It seems that it is easiest to sew on a serger (which I will do). So, do you JUST serge? No stitching before? AND does anyone know how to get that really cute little ruffly edge on the sleeves and hem on knits? Is it a simple rolled edge, or do I need to change the differential feed or something? Any tips are appreciated!

Hi! I am so GLAD someone asked a question I can help with!!! :yay: :yay: The best way to work with knits is to use a serger where ever possible!! On the seams that can be serged I allow for only a 3/8" seam it is easier than the 5/8". The "Lettuce" Edge is REALLY fun to do! You set the serger to the rolled edge and stretch out the fabric as you do the rolled edge and it comes out with the coolest ruffled little edge!!!:wizard: I recently made a pair of leggings with that edge on the pants bottom (Pre-Broken Arm). This is really cute on the edge of sleeves and bottom of tops rather than doing a hem AND it is a whole lot easier than trying to do a standard hem on knits. Luv ya, Nana

I have just found the board today. I love all the outfits. Couple of questions to who ever may answer. I saw some overalls for little girls( can't find again) does anyone know how they were done. Also to the one who took the shirt and added the skirt is there a pattern. Those look like something I could do before my trip. I have twins so two of everything. Any help is appreciated. I already made pillowcase dresses for the trip we do turtlenecks with them .

thanks
beth

Good morning everyone. Everyones stuff is gorgeaus.Hymm don't know if I spelled ?Where is UtahMom? Oh I opened up my box last night. I was all excited to sew something. Duh I forgot sewing machines don't come with threads:lmao: . Hope to contribute some pictures to this thread of my creations. Try not to laugh to hard when I do. I'm coming out of lurkdom to post.:cool1:

I love all of the gorgeous creations everyone has come up with! WOW! I can only aspire to be as talented. Tom I love the holiday dress!!!!

I must be the slowest at completing projects  I just finished my second sewing project and would love to hear feedback from the experts out there! I am pairing this top with black capris. DH cut me off at the knees taking the picture. Should I add anything to the capris? Would that be overdoing it? Or leave them as is? :confused3

I like this outfit the way it is. I have trouble makeing stuff for myself. I can't fit it right. I do better with the kids. It's much more fun. But I've been trying to find something to do with this fabric. Great Idea.

I'm not familiar with Carbona. I've tried bleach and Oxyclean with only some success. I made her a cute summer set with white twill capris that are probably going to Goodwill because the back of the pants have what look like rust spots. I doubt they are rust but that's the color and I have no idea where they came from.

Lisa, Carbona is great. You can get in the grocery store and I've seen it in JoAnnes. It comes in a little yellow bottle. There is a different one for different stains. I've used it on things that had stains for ages and it's worked. I made a dress for Kirsta, had it dry cleaned and put it away. Stupid me, in the plastic bag. When I got the thing out, it was COVERED in mildew. I spent so much time into makeing it, I thought I'd give the Carbona a shot. I had to soak it twice, but all the mildew came out but one little tiny spot. You can get grass stains out, blood, milk catsup. Anything you can think off.

I found this project that would look really cuite applicqued on something. The feathers are hands and the Turkeys body is feet. Too cuite. Very personal if we use are kids hands and feet. Or if you want a big Turkey we can use ours.lol.

AI duPont Childrens Hosp is where DGS Nicholas goes when he is hospitalized. DD Molly had the choice between there and CHOP and duPont is where she chose. He's been hospitalized twice now with his asthma and he had a sleep study and reflux test with the wire down into his stomach...poor little guy...but everyone there is so nice. Molly lives in Springfield, Delaware County PA...

My sister Tricia works with billing at AI. She loves it there. After she had Lexi, AI gave her the opportunity to work from home 2 days a weeks. Also, if you work there and go to school, they will pay for your education. Not many jobs take care of thier employees like that anymore.

Hey, everyone!!! Just thought I would check in and say Hi!
You know I REALLY miss not being able to sew and create !! I can't wait until the next 3 weeks is up so I can start my physical therapy to regain the use of my arm!!!! At least I won't have to have surgury to put the ball back together!! :dance3: Nana:cheer2: :cheer2:
Welcome back Nana....glad your are doing better and PT is on the way! :goodvibes

What a marvelous idea! What a cute turkey! :cutie:

Hi everyone, I'm back from Disneyland! We had a great trip and I will post photos later (still waiting on yours Misty!) I've loved all the outfits I've seen! It took me forever to catch up, but it was fun seeing all of your halloween costumes! I can't wait to see more Christmas stuff! I am glad I decided at the last minute to make DS5 Luke a Luke Skywalker (episode 4) costume. As you can see in the photos he was chosen (on our first attempt thank goodness) at the Jedi Training Academy. He thought he was pretty cool!

That is cute, I have also seen a Christmas tree like this where you have the bottom of you hand up and fingers facing down. Then you just layer the hands and shape them in a triangle(tree shape). These would both be cute grandparent gifts if you appliqued them onto a shirt or sweatshirt!!! Did that make any sense? Hopefully someone understood!:rotfl2:

And here's my latest creation. Empire waist dresses.

The ruffles at the bottom of the dresses took way too long. I need a ruffler foot! Other than that, they were very simple.

You can't find a pattern with long sleeve dresses. Maybe for bigger girls, but not for infants. I'll probably have to frankenpattern a fru-fru dress. I like what you've done. I wonder if I can do this for a onesize? Hmmm....... I have the one Princess fabric, but I like the other one to. Great job.

I have a question for anyone who has done decoupage jeans before. Do you heatnbond all of the squares, or do you pin the squares? I am going to try a pair tonight!!

That is so great that your son was chosen. All my kids would love this but if 1 got chosen and not the others we'd be in for a world of hurt.
How was the smoke there? My MIL just got back from visiting family in OC and said it was pretty bad. Hope it didn't affect your trip. Can't wait to see more pics.

Hey, everyone!!! Just thought I would check in and say Hi! For those of you that wanted to know how I did the Mickey Pumpkin Applique: I did a Yahoo search on images for "Mickey Pumpkin" and one of the things that came up was a picture of a Pin which was perfect.

You know I REALLY miss not being able to sew and create !! I can't wait until the next 3 weeks is up so I can start my physical therapy to regain the use of my arm!!!! At least I won't have to have surgury to put the ball back together!! :dance3: Nana:cheer2: :cheer2:

I thought I recognized that pumpkin! I can do that!!

Good luck with PT. I've been going for months and I am OVER it. First for a broken foot, I had to basically learn how to re walk. The hardest thing I think I've ever done. And then my RSDS flared up. I probably never would have made it through it if my Therapist wasn't so dang good looking. haha!! Good Luck!!

Tom, that is soooo pretty yet FUN too!!!:thumbsup2

Now are you going to disney for Christmas, or do you just like Disney so much that you put the mickey head on the dress?

Hey, does anyone have an idea of what I could do with just a fat quarter (maybe a little less) of the cute turkey fabric? I'd love to make a simple top (maybe to go over a turtleneck) for my friends size 4/5 daughter - and of course, the turkey's run up and down the piece so I couldnt turn it sideways. Any suggestion s would be GREAT!!!

thanks, wendy

You could try a stripwork jumper. I've done one for DD5 using 4 fat quarters (plus a half a yard for a ruffle and bodice) YCMT has a good pattern (my favorite actually.) I think Stephres did one using the "gobble, gobble" turkey fabric.

Here's the one by Stephres...

And another one...I thought you did this one...?

Hey I need some ideas from you guys. Next week DS has surgery and we will be at Scottish Rite at least 4 days. I need something to work on there to keep my mind off focusing on worring. I can't knit or antyhing like that. Any ideas? I was almost thinking about hand stitching a few appliques together and then attatching them to shirts or whatever after I got home. Would that even work?

Yes, you can do that to a onesie. I just did one for DD5 and I didn't even cut the tshirt that I used. When I finish the jeans (hopefully tonight) I'll post a picture. It will be my first (finished) Christmas custom!! I have soooo many outfits that I want to do for the Holidays!! DS will even get a few outfits!! :cool1:

I used pins and I have the holes in my fingers to prove it! I think I followed LisaZoe's directions on Teresa's bookmarks and she pins them. I obviously am all thumbs so next time I think I will heat n bond them (lite not ultra!).

I love the pic in your signature. Your daughter is so beautiful: she looks like a child model to me.

AWWW! Thanks! I posted a picture of your beauty (in her turkey outfit) I hope that's alright.
