Howdy everyone!
Looks like everyone has been busy. I had a semi rough day, but managed to do mini-makeovers on my girls tonight. They wanted me to post a picture. We are headed to see the mouse soon, so I managed to make the ugliest outfit I'd ever seen. I haven't completely scrapped it yet, but pretty close.
I hope the van driver is okay. What a horrible experience...I hope you are feeling better soon...

These are pics of an outfit that SallyFromDE came across and thought this design would be really cute as a Minnie outfit. I love the idea of the flower pin on the sash (Minnie's daisy would be so cute there!)

Here, you can see that the waist band is a sash that is attached with the flower pin

They provide the chef hats. I thought to do aprons. Now that I've been thinking about it, Kirsta got a sewing machine for Xmas (Hello Kitty) and we can make them together. I bid on a Ratatouille embroidery, so maybe we can do some different with the design. Sometimes, just talking about it, gives me some ideas. I am really open.

I'm trying to find out how to make mini pinata's now. Kirsta always wanted a Pinata, but we won't be in an atmosphere to do that this time. But I can't find directions that would work. They have them on Ebay, but by the time I get 20 with shipping, it's $40.

Here's a thought....use this guy & have a DISner from the boards (I like Amy M_I_C_K_E_Y's designs) create a deseign with the quote "Anyone can cook!"-Chef Gusteau....

Use that as your transfer for the aprons. Depending on how many guests are coming, Oriental Trading has the best prices on aprons (I think). If you don't need a lot of aprons I'd get them from Hobby Lobby store (they go on sale a lot).

My computers wiggin' out so I can't link you, but FamilyFun.com has great Birthday Party tips & photos, including how to make a pinata. You could make a wheel of cheese pinata (for Ratatouille) or an Eiffel Tower (for France in Ratatouille) or a chef hat pinata. I have a Family Fun Party book that shows how to make the pinatas, it uses a balloon as the base. I think that could be the top of the chef hat.

My kids love to cook & play chef. Over the summer break we learned a lot of new recipes from PBS Sprouts show. We had aprons from Hobby Lobby, but they needed chef hats. I didn't have time to make them from a pattern...so I whipped these up for our bake-a-thon with cousins......

They were inspired by UtahMama's "dew bonnet"/trash bag hat photo in her TR. I made the base with white foam & cut a tall kitchen bag down for the top. I had them wear these for a very short time & under constant supervision. I would not recomend using plastic bags for anything with kids otherwise.

Ok, another embroider machine update.

WOW, I'm sold, but broke! "Whip me up" a few of those, 'k? Awesome!!

I have the Singer Futura ce150. I purchased the applique design on . The process has several steps, but but basically, you stitch out a template on a piece of paper (spray temporary adhesive to the back, and stick to stabilizer). Stitch the first block of the design (this is the basic shape). Cut it out, then use the template to cut out the fabric. Re-hoop (this time with the fabric that you want to use). Stitch the first block. Use the template that you used to cut ou the appliqued piece of fabric (black in this case). Spray it with temporary adhesive. Place it inside the stitched design, stich the rest of the design. That's it!

I know that we have talked about this in the past here but I have a really crappy sewing machine and I need a new one. I do not sew well but I am hoping one day when I grow up I will lol. I will want to do the applique faces and stuff like that eventually. Any suggestions on a sewing machine? DH has said if I got serious he would buy one.

I have the Costco version of the Brother i6000. The i6000 is available at WalMart for I think just under $200. I can't say enough great about this machine. It really is great! There are lots of people here with this machine, and I've never heard a negative comment about it. I definitely recommend it!

DH and I decided to go out to lunch today.

On the way there a tractor Trailer decided to pull out in front of me. He told the police officer he didn't see me. The officer gave him a ticket. I wasn't going very fast but.. .

Now my van is a mess. . .

Thankfully we are all okay.

I have this machine--The Costco Brother 7700. I got it for Christmas. So far I really like it. The button hole feature is way cool! Easier than any other machine I've had. I got it at Costco a couple of weeks before Christmas (yes I had to go pick up my own present, DH tried and failed ) It was on sale for $159, definitely worth it at that price!

This is bad. I leave in 2 weeks and you are giving me new ideas? I'm not talented enough to pull off the flower, but DD2 just may need a new minnie dot jumper. I'm just too into this pattern lately.

I just wanted to let you know also since the other person was ticketed their insurance should have bought your new car seat. I was rear ended about 2 mths ago and they replaced my son's car seat. I bought it and they sent me a reimbursement check. So you might want to check.

Thanks! I have heard that and we have been trying, especially because it was $300! Stupid me immediately bought the same seat even though I needed a bigger one shortly, but didn't want to have the insurance say I wasn't replacing with the same thing. Well to this day my husband has called a # of times and the other insurance has NEVER once returned his call or has the guy been there to speak with him. I am fed up and told him to take her to small claims court! If it was a true accident I would think differently but she was TALKING on her CELL phone!

Sorry, I really cannot get past that. She could have killed the two most precious things in life to me! Oh and the speed limit is 65 on that road and YES, they were going that fast, if they were in our car I am afraid things would have been worse.

Ds(3) has his 4th the end of February & I'm already starting to plan the theme. I don't do anything over the top, like some parents that rent huge places & such. I'm all about the homemade parties, with small amounts of guests, & lots of play with creative twist. My boys are really into the Birthday party planning around here & get way involved. They start picking out themes every other month, for about a year before their BDay's! ha ha. (smilies aren't working) I just love to celebrate the gift of them in our lifes, I consider myself truly blessed. They are the answers to many prayers.

RevRob, I agree with Lori. I was getting itchy fingers & hiding my credit card in the freezer (so I wouldn't go & buy the same machine you're working on!)! Until I read how "easy" it is. I don't have the dedicated time or space to keep little monkey's away from a new-fangled machine. Love to see all your creations in progress on yours though!

Ok, I think I explained that really bad. Sorry. I'm gonna try again.
I have the Singer Futura ce150 embroidery machine. It has a USB port. It actually has to be connected to a computer to run (it is computer driven). Because of that, I am able to download any design to stitch in my machine. There are billions available on the internet. This particular design I purchased on . There are actually 3 stitch segments to the design. The first stitch segment is a basting stitch that is the outer edge of the design. It outlines the design on the fabric so that you know where to lay fabric on top that you are going to applique. SO, in the example that I showed, I had a red piece of fabric, I stitched the outline in black, and then laid a piece of black fabric that has been cut out in the same shape as the design on the inside of basting stitched Mickey head. Then you stitch the next segment of stitches. This segment of stitches is a basting stitch just inside the design so that it bastes down the fabric so that it stays put. Then the third set of stitches is the satin stitching all the way around the design. The great thing is that it's all computerized! The machine pauses between each step and you tell it when you're ready for it to go again. The only thing you have to do is put down the black fabric that has been cut out and press the go button! Then you sit back and drink a cup of coffe, and watch in amazement as it stitches!

I did get instructions (actually a video) on www.emblibrary.com on how to do this. So if anyone wants to venture out, and needs help - check it out!

ACTUALLY, I am coming to Dallas Monday! Actually, to Grand Prairie. We're going to the Chinese New Year's show (even though CNY isn't until February 7) that is showing at the Nokia Theater. I think it's gonna be a quick in and out trip, though. SO, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I purchased the machine at www.singertexas.com . I don't know if she still has a special going, but I paid $529. She pays the tax, and shipping. I know the machine retails for $599.

Quick cross your fingers....I may get to go to Disneyland in February!!!! WhoooHoooo!!! My DH may have to go to CA for a week of business and if so he said he would bring the family!!!! He said I could do Disney or Knotts Berry Farm while he worked and then maybe we could even go to Sea World and stay a few extra days!!! My brother and my best friend live in CA so this would be super cool as I would get to see them as well.

Ohhh I do hope this works out!!!!! Hehehehehe.
