So I got the ruffle on DNeice's nightgown. Wow! That is alot of ruffle for a nightgown! I Had DD try it on (before the ruffle was on) and she said "that's not a nightgown, it's a dress." I asked her why she thought that and she said "it's too pretty to be a nightgown!!" :cloud9: I even topstitched where I ws suppose to!! I always forget that step. FYI: I used the portrait peasant dress for the pattern.

Also finished a decoupage set for the same DN. I'll post pictures tomorrow. 2 gifts down...too many more to go!! *sigh*

DH is (part) owner of a Hadrdware/Hobby store here in Westland. He's worked at the store since he was 14. He went to college, became "general manager" and a few years ago bought into the store. It's a family owned store that I remember going to as a kid. (Probably even went there when he worked there as a teen. I'm a few years younger so I wouldn't have noticed :lmao: ) They are now opening a 2nd Hobby store in Farmington Hills (about 10 miles from the current store) It's a lot of late nights for him trying to get the store ready to open this weekend!
According to him it, will be the largest Hobby store in the area. Needless to say he is really looking forward to our trip in February!!
That is very exciting! If they decide to put one over our way, let me know!

I'm glad he's all better!

Thanks for letting us know about your TR! I'm off to read it!

I wanted one that looked like my daughter but I couldn't find one that was just right. I really fell in love with this one and hope Megan will too. After these clothes I making for her, she had better like it, LOL!

This is Nellie, an American Girl doll and Megan's Christmas present. I keep taking her out and playing with her, however. I even brushed her hair to try out the American Girl hair brush another mom told me to buy!
hanks! I hope so! I can't wait to see pictures from your trip. Did you have just the best time?

It was actually very easy. On my mom's advice I used velcro for closing the back and elastic thread instead of a casing for elastic. It was very simple and fast to make. She also advises to sew the sleeve onto the top and back first and then sew closed the sleeve and side at the same time. It is much easier than trying to sew a little sleeve around the arm of the machine. Don't be scared, just try it!

OMG, I just love this! Are you super thrilled with it, because I would be!
Nellie is so cute, her hair is just like Megan's. I really like Kit! DD thinks I look like Molly, probably because she had glasses.
Thanks for the tip about the sleeves, I really hope I have time to make the doll some nice stuff. My sister just sent me an email she finished the little swim suit. Now I just have to go get the doll. I am going to buy her at the new store they opened here near Atlanta. I may have to get a Doll hairbrush too.

Good Luck to your husband. He will deserve that trip in February. I can't wait to see your outfits for your DN.

THank you to everyone who complemented my bag! I love the way it turned out. I used Butterick Pattern 4823 it has 4 different styles and I like the way it comes out. It's not hard at all.

I love that you made this! Yes her
hair is beautiful and truly does look like Megan's!

Thank you!

Kit is cute as a button! I think I was trying to decide between her, Emily and Nellie. I don't know how the brush is special, but I was told it was necessary so I bought it. It's probably the only thing they sell under $10, LOL!

I think I have that bag pattern (or something really similiar) that I have yet to try. I am going to have to make time, that bag is just great!

TWOCUTEKIDZ_ Good Luck with the store! I also wanted to know what pattern you used for this outfit
th_IMG_2644.jpg

I do believe this is your adorable child? I love this and wanted to make something similar, so could you pretty please help me out?:flower3: I just love this!

Oh, I finally finished my dd's dress! I think it turned out well. I have to start on my other dd's now. I am so stressed!!:scared1: I am ready for Christmas to be here, and my life to slow down some. I have been so busy, it is driving me crazy. I do need to remember why we have Christmas, though, and stop being so crazy with my shopping.:lmao:

This is FANTASTIC! You did a great job!

Camping Gris_ LOVE the pic of your daughter! That is PRICELESS!

Dreamer_ LOVE:love: the snowflake bag! I need to make one of those!

Thanks for the well wishes and Pixie Dust!! The store is coming along, but it is a slow process!! DH has a few extra people helping hm, but it's mainly him (and occasionaly his partner) stocking the shelves.

my*2*angels - Yep, that's my cutie! I got an incredible deal on that set, I didn't make it. But I think she might have used Simplicity 5118. There is a seam where the sash is on the top, so it might be that pattern. She added a different ruffle though. You could modify the YCMT portrait peasant dress pattern too. The skirt is a double ruffle twirl skirt. (YCMT?) Sory I can't be more help on it. I love that set too!! The skirt is very full!!

Dreamer & Wisher, I love your snowflake bag!!

Here is what I was working on this week. These are Christmas presents for my neice. Now I need to make some for DD.

I love the making these jeans, but man, are they tedious!

IMG_2686.jpg

Nightgowns. DD is right, they're too pretty to be jammies! I was able to make these with 2 yards of fabric (bought for .99 a yard on Black Friday :whoohoo: ). I used the scraps for Bitty's gown. Next time I'll get a little more so I can do a ruffle on the doll's nightgown.

Just skimmed: That Happiest Place On Earth picture is perfect for a signature line, Camping Griswalds!!!! I think it's the funniest thing, only because I collect pictures of Norah's diva moments at Disney. I have a collage scrapbook page planned.

Wisher/Dreamer
-I love that snowflake bag! Holy cow!!! I've been wanting to make church bags for my kids to keep coloring books etc. in to keep them happy during church. You've inspired me!!!!

TSNCS
- OH MY GOODNESS! that is a cute dress! Is the bodice blue velvet? Very pretty!

Stephres- uh ohhhhh! My dd is receiving a similar dolly for Xmas. So you're saying I'm going to have to make twinner outfits too? SWEET! I did stock up on doll patterns when they were 99 cents. This will be fun!

Just like my above post to Stephres, I love the dolly idea!

Everything is awesome! Love the jeans...haven't appliqued jeans yet. Looks hard!

The jeans are very easy to do. Once you get past the fear of ripping open the jeans!

FYI - YCMT has lots of doll clothes paterns. All of CarlaC patterns come with a doll pattern (Portrait Peasant dress, Stripwork Jumper, Easy Fit pants to name a few). There are also 2 free downloads. A twirl skirt and a stripwork jumper. The oll clothes are surprisingly easy too make, and a good way to to us up some scraps!!

Oooh another Bitty sewer!!!!! This is cute!. I have been working on a Grinch coat for one of DDs twins. WHERE did you get the pink Bitty shoes?

Cute cute cute! I love the high school musical outfits. My daughter wore her hsm shirt from Wal Mart today and I noticed that there is a hole in from the safety-pinned "child of the day" badge and the design is literally peeling right off! Cheap shirt!

The jammies are beautiful and way too nice to be just nightgowns! Great job on both of them. I guess Megan's doll will need jammies too!

Hee, me too! I didn't even think of YCMT for doll clothes. I have three patterns I bought for 99 cents and figured anything I wanted to make for a doll I could do with them.

has anyone seen the new project runway patterns by simplicity!! I am excited to try the kids one out. I am planning to pick it up this weekend at the joannes pattern sale!

oh and simplicity has some new doll patterns. check out there patterns online.

Love the nightgowns! I had a matching nightgown with my doll when I was a kid, but it was actually bought that way at like Wal-Mart or somewhere like that. See, now you got me thinking again....:goodvibes

Hi everyone,

Sorry I have been absent the last few days and not commenting on all the cute stuff! Hosted a Christmas party this weekend, sewed up 5 pairs pajama pants for a friend, finished making my Christmas cards, DD2 had a dislocated elbow :scared1: DH's work just said "oh, can you get on a plane to Orlando (from Salt Lake City) in 2 hours?" so he took off yesterday with no notice (and I'm soooo jealous he's going to Orlando, even though I'll be there soon!) and now I have a horrible chest cold and some fabric I ordered from :wizard: is MIA. The post office tracking system says they have it, but after waiting in line for a looooong time with a 2 year old and a 5 year old they say :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 "why don't you bring in the delivery attempt notice that the mail carrier NEVER LEFT, wait in line again, and we'll look again, even though I already looked everywhere." I just want to cry. But on the good side, my favorite quilting store happened to have 20% off everything today and I got some cute valentine's fabric and fabric for a cupcake skirt I want to make, never mind that they are waaayyyyy down on a loooong list of things I need to make. Okay, thanks for listening to the vent. I love everything you all have been up to, but for some reason I only saw the red x in Misty's pictures of Jayedyn and I need to see them!!!!! And thanks for reminding me of all the doll clothes on my "to do" list! DD2 is getting Bitty Baby for Christmas and DD10 is getting Julie. We love Kit, she has the best hair! They say they need their own hairbrush so that they don't get any oils from human hair in their hair.

oh, you should sit down and rest. that is a lot of stuff!!!!

JHAM-I really hope you get your fabric and everything gets better! Sending good vibes your way:goodvibes

What size clothes do the dolls wear? My DD4 is getting a real loving baby for christmas, she just started showing a real interest in baby dolls, so we will see how she does! She saw this thing in toys r us and just had to have it from Santa! It is the ONLY thing on her list this year! I am assuming it is a normal size doll, just wondering if there was a size for the clothes? I want to make them a few matching things for christmas. TIA for any help!
