A message from WebmasterAlex to the DIS Community...
---

Our signature rules were written a few years ago. Back then a lot of our posters used dial up connections and the VBulletin software did not have the functionality it does now.

The old rules were difficult to understand and they took a lot of moderator time to enforce. We have developed all new rules that should be much simpler and much easier to enforce automatically.

1. Your signature will be limited in length. The program will do this
automatically and anything over the allowed length will be cut off

Explanation- the biggest complaint we receive is that signatures are too long and it takes too long to scroll through threads. We are going to start with a height of 250 pixels, you'll see what that means when we roll this out. We may add an additional option so that a signature only appears once per page.

2. You will be limited to a total of 25 images and smilies The program
will handle this automatically

Explanation- That should be PLENTY considering the amount of space

3. All content and links must meet DIS board posting guidelines.
Signature have the same content rules as any post on the boards

Explanation- Pretty obvious I hope, this includes commercial link, links to inappropriate sites, etc etc

4. You may not have a signature that is so wide it causes the page to
expand

Explanation- This is something the software can't control. Basically the only way to do this is to have a really really wide picture. If your signature means people with a normal resolution monitor need to scroll from side to side you'll be told to remove the picture causing the issue

5. We reserve the right to remove or modify signatures that cause
issues with the boards or slow page loading. Please make sure any images in
your signature are hosted on a reliable site. Any signature that contains
malicious or harmful code will be removed immediately and the poster
sanctioned

Explanation- Most of this should be pretty obvious. One thing people might not realize is that when people complain about the boards being "slow" it may not be us at all. When the boards load a page, if it can't find an image, it can make the boards appear slow.

We will roll this out in a few days, probably Wednesday. You don't need to take any action now, but you probably will want to check your signature after this goes into effect to see how it was affected.

If you have any questions on this please post on this thread on the tech support board, I will monitor those.

The Webmasters believe that these new, simplified rules will make the boards a better place for our posters and moderators.

Thank you for being a DIS boards member!

Webmaster Alex

She looks so cool in her appliqued jeans!! I love it!! About the bows...:snooty:

My dad did our wedding ceremony. Here's a link to the website with the words he spoke on it, and a few more pictures!

I still cry when I read what he said.

For your viewing pleasure- wedding pictures circa 1994:

We had a pretty bad photographer and there really aren't any good pictures of us both looking at the camera.

Would you look at how stinkin' cute he is!! And my nephew's pretty cute, too. ;) We were both 19 when we got married, in case you were wondering.

Come on, ladies!! Bring on the pictures!!
TFS!!! I would post some - but I am too lazy to go take a picture of a picture!

I need some serious sewing motivation. I think I need to organize my faric and see what inspires me! I found some froggie flannel I forgot I had! SOOOO cute! I want to make jammies for the kids. And fleece hoodies. I need to include the boys more, so they aren't feeling left out. Have to be so careful not to make them look home-spun though. :confused3

Love all the wedding pictures!

I think you should re orginize your sewing space. you will find things you did not know you had and just feel the need to sew.
that is what happened to me and now I have sewn 3 outfits in a week!

Lori

I am feeling so left out....didn't get any response to my lovely entry into the mom's panel...not even a rejection...so maybe it never went through....maybe it was so outrageous they deleted it...or maybe I am so darn good I won and don't have to go to round 2 LOL

HEY DISNEY, I WANT AN EMAIL....

Ok, I am done now...I feel better....gonna go eat some brownies to maintain my wonderful Pooh shape (it takes a lot to maintain my weight)...and then go sew a skeleton....

Oh, wanted to say I got that toddler Nemo costume on disney.com and it is awesome....you couldn't make that for $10! and the rocketship costume is adorable...but HEAVY...and the knight I got for Nicholas was only $7 and it is really great...no way could I have made these for the price...guess fabric and labor is cheaper outside the USA

Hee, Heather, that was for you! Snooty is my favorite smiley I think!

Here is the bodice of a Christmas dress I started for DD. I am so proud of myself for trying to appliqué. It is no where near perfect but it looks good from a distance.

This is the fabric I am using for the skirt.

And just because here is a wedding photo (Sept 2003) and we were both 29.
th_scan552december072003.jpg

That dress is going to be SO cute!!!! TFS your wedding pic :)! You all are making me jealous - I want to work on Christmas outfits but I am stuck working on a Laura Ingalls/Pioneer style outfit for Great American Day at the kiddos school!!! Not my favorite - but it needs to get done....

Not a chance!!!! LOL
I'm moving in on yah, girlie....

Since I feel that we don't have NEARLY enough off-topic photos in this thread...

31 weeks pregnant with Tessa (I had her 5 weeks later):

34 weeks pregnant with Sawyer (I had him 4 weeks later):

Ok, just becasue I liked my wedding, I'm going to post some more pictures of it for you all! August 1988, I was 19, he was 28.
th_7_324x480.jpg

Nicely cutting the cake, which we then fed to each other without slamming it into each others faces (sorry that is one of my pet peeves when people do that to each other!)

Great pics! Thanks for sharing! I also don't like the cake smashing - I just feel it is not the meaning of the cake to mash it in each others faces.

No prego pics for me.

but......

A chinese adoption tradition is the "red couch" photo. This pic was taken the night before we left China. (Be aware at this point I had not slept in 2 weeks.:scared: And had not been able to use a curling iron  And DD was still not sure she liked me LOL)

Oh Cindee, you done made me cry! This is so special! Thanks for sharing it!

OK, so I have tore myself away from the thread today to sew my DD a patchwork twirl skirt for her Fall party at school tomorrow. If I am using my ruffler foot, do I need to "close" my tiers before ruffling or do I leave it as a strip and then sew it after? Did that make any sense?

Yup, I notice lots of chopped off siggies. Better to scroll through a page, though.

I found some cute cheap-o Christmas flannel at Wal-Mart. I decided I would buy t-shirts for all 4 kids and make pj bottoms for the boys and matching t-shirt dress/flannel nightgowns for the girls. That way if I mess up on my first attempt at t-shirt "dresses" or they start to stretch or sag, no one will care!

You are so beautiful Heather! The picture of you right after having Tessa and Sawyer makes me cry every time!

And, in case anyone forgot, I was there when she had Sawyer, barely! She had him SOOOOOOOOOOOO fast, I barely got into the room and he was born! I even got to cut the cord!
Great pics! Thanks for sharing! I also don't like the cake smashing - I just feel it is not the meaning of the cake to mash it in each others faces.

And lastly - pics of my pg self - 37 weeks with twins - and the babies the day we left the hospital. I hate the pic of me holding them in the wheelchair because I was so swollen. They were 4#14oz and 4#8oz at birth.

Eeek - we are having a wind storm here today - it is supposed to be pretty bad - my lights just flashed - hope I can stay connected today!!!

Teresajoy,

I don't know if you noticed but your signature is cut off at the bottom now. We only see the top half of Lydia's name. New signature guildlines maybe?

Cindee

I was wondering that same thing about my siggie. The bottom of my pic has been getting cut off since yesterday...glad it is not just mine, I was too lazy to lookin into it though!
