Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 4

Hello all!

I just had to eek out one more outfit for our trip.;)

I had this tshirt with an applique that we got on clearance staring me in the face. I knew that I had to do something with it. Instead of cutting a panel out of the tshirt and then fusing it to a woven, I just cut VERY carefully around the applique and stitched it onto the woven around the edges. It worked out really well.

Anyway here is the finished project:
Mrs.jpg

The back of the shirt has shirring on it. (My first try at it BTW)
This tshirt came with several different pieces that you can add to Mrs. Potato head via a velcro backing. Here are a couple of different faces that I did:
Mrs-2.jpg

I even made a pocket on the skirt to hold these pieces. It doesn't show with the top over the skirt on a small childs hanger, so here is a pic of just the skirt with the pocket detail.

I am so jealous!!! This is beautiful, and so creative..I really suck at appliques. Love potatoe head!

Susan

Wow your granddaughter could be a model and whatever she is modeling....I'll buy it!!! :thumbsup2 Absolutely stunning in your beautiful outfits. I too loved Princess Storybook...we went last June and had dinner. Here we all are meeting Ariel!
IMGP3323.jpg

Glad you all had a great time. Your customs are really great!!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

You are too kind...love your photo with Ariel! I hope that everyone going to WDW gets to do this dinner! It was really the best for anyone who loves princesses...like my Princess Curly (our pet name for Makayla, my DGD)
Susan

Your tutu custom is too too cute!!! what a great job...and the cuffs on the pants....I saw instructions to do this at Joann's using ribbon and velcro...is that what you did?

My DD was a cheerleader and those stunts have always scared me. She was a base and got kicked in the face, mouth so many times. And when you think of her holding another girl on her shoulders and the pressure on her spine...there I go again, being a nurse....but your daughter's position is just perfect....I miss those days....

Susan

I am trying to make a top with an EPCOT ball on it, but cannot find any material that looks like the ball (minimal material shops around here - Walmart and a quilt shop)....

wondering if anyone had any ideas how to maybe paint one with maybe some of that glitter silver paint stuff...can you think of anything else?
I used the silver fabric from Joanns. I think I still have some of it left if you need it. Here's a bad picture of what I used it for since I havent gotten my pictures back yet. I forgot to take my digital camera with me. I win the most unorganized person of the year award. My daughters had to have a Pluto outfit. And that's a Nemo pin right over Pluto's eyes and not actually Pluto's eyes....:rotfl2:

I just wanted to give a BIG HUG to all you parents out there that have angels. I was afraid I would miss someone if I started the quote thing and I didn't want to do that.

I have an angel in Heaven too. We had a miscarriage in 1999, I was 10 weeks. I will never forget that baby or the days/weeks that followed those 2 horrible days.

I think Jennwdw put it best:
I miss them but there was another plan for me and for them and had I not had them and lost them I may have never known my other children and I don't know that I would change anything about my life and my story....Really the phrase "I'm sorry" makes me crazy because I'm not sorry at all. Please don't be offended, I understand the sentiment but for me personally I don't feel sorry at all for the way life has twisted and turned for us. ...I have 5 beautiful children and had the first 2 not been born and then died I probably would have never known my other three and I just can't imagine that at all!!!

I have been blessed with two children and they are my absolute world. If things had been different, they wouldn't be here.

So hugs to all of you that have told your story and those that haven't.
I returned from wdw sick and havent been able to get on here and when I did this broke my heart. Hugs to all of you that have been through this. I don't talk about this part of my life much. My middle daughter has a twin that I miscarried and she always feels like she's missing something. My doctor tried to get me to terminate her and I am so blessed that I didnt. It took me 9 years to get pregnant with my first child and I was thrilled to find I was pregnant with my second only to have it tinged with sadness. It's still hard for me to talk about it. I still feel guilty that I miscarried something that's makes her feel incomplete and yet I feel I wouldnt have had my youngest daughter if I hadn't.

Here's some fabric I picked up at hancock to make an Epcot ball shirt.
this is the fabric!

I AM SOOO JEALOUS !!!! That is exactly what I was looking for, but we do not have anything like that at our walmart which is all I have to choose from, but I did get some quilted white material and will be painting it silver so I hope for it to look like this when I am done !!
I think I still have some if you are not going too soon. PM me if you need it!

Here are the sets I made for DD:
wd2.JPG

The face gave me such a problem! This is all cut & pieced speratley The eyes got messed up..& I was *this* close to tossing this outfit! LOL I had to pick off the appliqued eyes & decided to paint them on lol..so it looks ok as long as you don't look too close. After this set, I decided to use panels LOL

This is a simple sundress I bought on clearance & added the applique, roses & buttons & made a pair of lil shorts to match:

These are so cute! We got stopped alot on the monorail and at the parks, so I know you will too! I especially love the belle shirt with the cutout top. You did a great job making it into a Disboutique outfit!

Sorry that I didn't take pictures of the back, I will make sure to take some pictures of DD in it at the Studios. I think that she will wear this to Hollywood and Vine lunch. I didn't get a chance to do JoJo, so this will have to do.

Thanks for looking!

Tom, totally adorable!! It put a smile on my face. :)

I need some advice and figured you ladies (and gentleman) would be great to ask.

As silly as it sounds, my DD (6) does not know HSM is a movie. She has seen the Pep Rally at MGM several times and also saw the stars live when they were filming the Christmas parade last year. I "think" what she likes about HSM is the cheerleading and the music.

Now of course they have HSM stuff everywhere, the dolls, books etc. I don't think she puts it together that the dolls are from the movie (if that makes sense). So my question is this-should I buy her the movie? Is there anything "objectional" about it? Has your 6 year old seen the movie and did they like it? I think there is a lot of singing in the movie?

Can you tell I am HSM clueless?:lmao:

There isn't anything that I found at all objectionable in the first HSM. The second one is fine, too, really, but there is ONE kiss (FINALLY) b/n Troy and Gabriella. I strongly suggest you get the movie and sit and watch it with her. My DD7, DS6 and DH and I ALL LOVE IT! We have both soundtracks in the car. It's been fun to have movies that our entire family enjoys to watch together!

Hi, I am feverishly trying to catch up with you guys... There has been some amazing customs!!

I am just about done with Mally's outfit for CRT. I would like to add some sort of applique on her top. I am thinking of Cinderella's coach or a tiara, something rather simplistic. I cannot find any coloring pages or clipart of the coach that is more simple. I am about to try to do one by hand, but thought I'd check in with you guys to see if any of you had a pattern or picture.

I welcome any suggestions! I'll post pictures soon!!

These are so cute!

One question, did you make the skirt? My dd loves it, is this called a strip skirt, patchwork or something else, help! :)

Yes, I made the skirt.

It is a patchwork skirt. Each tier is double the length of the previous one.

So, If you use 4 inch patches in the first tier, the second tier's patches would be 8 inches each, and the third tier would be 16 inches each. Of course, add your seam allowance to each patch.

I use a rotary cutter with a quilt square on a cutting mat. Makes cutting a breeze.

Hope this helps!

I've almost bought some of those sundresses, but never knew what to do with them. That is very cute!

Your Cinderella looks great!

Hello all!

So cute! Where did you find the original shirt (I think it was probably a shirt, right?) We LOVE potato head around here. The pocket is so cute, what a great idea!
Cute, I love how they coordinate but, aren't exactly the same. That is great fabric too!

I finished my fall overall for Ds but, I am trying to decide on if it needs something ont he back. Do you all ever leave the back plain (for boy outfits especially)?

Thanks! I found the original shirt at Cracker Barrel a couple of months ago on clearance. The original shirt was a ringer tee with colored sleeves. It fit DD a little bit wonky. Too tight around her belly, but way too big around the neck and the sleeves. So instead of selling it at a garage sale, or donating it to charity, I decided to take off the elements that I liked and add it to a custom. Mr. Potato head makes me smile, and I know that we will be going back to DTD to get lots more parts this trip!

For the overalls, I have put on a couple of coordinating patches on the leg, (you could do them in the shape and color of fall leaves perhaps?) maybe on just one side, to tie the front to the back. Otherwise, I would just leave it plain.

I used fabric meant for an ironing board cover. It's in the back of the fabric stores, near the industrial stuff. If you can't find it, maybe you can find a cheap ironing board cover to cut up and use. It's perfect because it has the squares already sewn into it.

thanks...that is what I was originally looking for when I headed over to Walmart, but they didn't have any of these "old fashion" ironing board covers...I think I have something figured out

Tom- That Potato head outfit is just classic! You guys are going to have so much fun on your trip. Put me on the list of people who want to know if you ever decide to sell off some of those customs!!!

Need help!!!!

I bought a discontinued Simplicity Cinderella Pattern from :wizard: . Worked my butt off to get this dress almost finished. Sunday morning I woke you bright and bushy tailed and the second half of the pattern directions was gone!!!!

My DH swears he did not touch it but . . after two and half days it is no where to be found. If anyone has the Simplicity Cinderella 9383 please let me know. I have a couple questions about the skirt.

I have made a really cool set of Cinderella dresses. The work dress, the pink mice made dress, and this blue one. I am so close to being done. I am then moving on to Sleeping Beauty.

Thanks!!!

Very cute!

I want to post just one photo of our trip. This was taken at Crystal Palace for lunch on Thursday 9/20. These were the first characters DD saw and she was thrilled. You should know that DD is normally very shy and cautious in new situations but she LOVED the characters. She was bouncing in her seat waiting for her turn (she was remarkably good at waiting too.). Mommy was thrilled.:cloud9:

She is wearing a Minnie dot pillowcase dress so this isn't totally off-topic.
Looks like you guys had fun!
OK finally..here are the outfits I have been working on for weeks..I will start with my son's:

I love the Belle one! Great job on all the sets!

So, DH ran late at work and I didn't make it in time for bowling. That means 2 of us were out, I hope they don't hate me:confused: BUT on the bright side it left me free to finish up the tink sundress I started last night. I am using elastic for the first time ever-YAY!! it's going quite well so far. I'll keep you posted. If I finish up I'll probably start cutting out the fabric to make my pillow case dresses (princess toile and day of the dead fabrics) Still deciding weather the DOTD dress gets a pair of matching pants or if its to much print. I needed something for halloween and a layered skirt seemed like too much work. Besides I'm in L-O-V-E with the fabric. anywho, that's my babbling for today. I'm impressed w/ all of the great appliques!!! I hope my "friend" on her epcot top works out, but we're not there yet!!
...t.

I can't wait to see the outfits!

a bit cheerier post. Here are the customs I made for the kiddos at Sea World, everyone posts Disney stuff. I have to be different. Plus I dont' have all the pics on the puter yet, but I will.

100_2652.jpg
Nice job! I like seeing the different parks!
Oh, I've been so tempted to do something like that but have never had the nerve. I usually go to the Layaway desk because it's very close to the fabric dept. so I have them find someone for me. What's odd is that now that the local store's fabric dept. has been shrunk, it seems like there's always an employee in the area. :sad2:

I'm pretty sure Walmart doesn't have layaway anymore, so there is never anyone at the desk. It's hard to track anyone down at the stores around us!

Wow your granddaughter could be a model and whatever she is modeling....I'll buy it!!! :thumbsup2 Absolutely stunning in your beautiful outfits. I too loved Princess Storybook...we went last June and had dinner. Here we all are meeting Ariel!

I was going to also mention that I gingerly hoist my daughter up....not on people's shoulders but aboard a 1200 pound animal who's first instinct is to bolt and run 40 mph sideways at the slightest provocation  ...in otherwords...she rides horses! :rotfl2:
Here she is...
IMGP2318.jpg

Glad you all had a great time. Your customs are really great!!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I love your picture, the Princess Storybook is one of my favorite character meals. I liked it better than CRT. I am VERY jealous that you got to see Ariel there though! She wasn't there when we went, and she was the main reason I made the reservations there!
Hello all!

I returned from wdw sick and havent been able to get on here and when I did this broke my heart. Hugs to all of you that have been through this. I don't talk about this part of my life much. I love the picture of your daughter!

I've been worried about you! I was about to email Heather and ask if you were ok.

Thanks for sharing the story of your other daughter. That must have been so hard to go through. Thank goodness you didn't listen to your doctor!
If Gavin had lived, I wouldn't have Arminda, but I am still very sorry and sad that he died. I can separate the two in my mind (and heart), and still grieve for the loss of one, although that loss allowed the birth of another. Someday, I know, I will be able to hold all of them! That just makes me cry thinking about what a happy day that will be!! :grouphug:

A few years ago, I was making matching dresses for the girls to wear to the Father Daughter Dance, and realized I was missing a piece of the pattern. It was an out of print one too. I called Simplicity, but they couldn't help me since it was out of print (but, you might want to give that a try just in case!). Then, I did a search for it on Ebay. I begged the selle to please give me the measurements for the peice I needed, adn they very kindly obliged! Ebay people are pretty nice, you might want to give it a shot!
