I have a disney skirt to share! I'm so excited! This skirt took me half the time of my previous one, although it was also half the size.

mermaiddress.jpg

I forgot who suggested it to me but I did 3" plain purple, 6" Ariel and 3" purple with sparkly stars and I really liked how it turned out, so thanks.

DD is not cooperative about having her picture taken. She usually says "MY camera!" over and over and tries to grab it.

I would love some help figuring out what to do for a top (that is obviously not what I intend her to wear with it). I do have some plain white tshirts.

It looks adorable. I just love that Ariel fabric! I do believe I will be getting some of that soon!

Hmmm, my Mom took the kids to the zoo (neice Tessa is wearing that INCREDIBLE Simba dress Heather mader her by the way!). Now, should I go to the fabric store ALL ALONE (can't remember the last time in the past 15 years I've done that!) or stay here and clean the house???? HMMMMMM.......

Although, without the three kids with me, I will have to bring along a disguise, like utahmamma, so I can get all the patterns I want!!

All by yourself, Ooooo sounds great.

I love the Sea World outfits. Looks like it was a great day.
I can't wait until our trip.

Ok. I just had a mild freek out! And I am posting under the "there are now stupid questions" logic so, if the answer is obvious please humor me ;)

Is the RED ribbon I just put on the WHITE t-shirt going to bleed when it all gets washed together? I prewashed the shirt, but didn't think about the ribbon? Will it make a "loverly" pink shirt for my DD after the first wash?

Thanks for any help. Sorry. I guess I need to just sit and finish my coffee before thinking about it to much ;)

How in the world did you get them to keep the pants WHITE all Day???

LOVE the outfits!!!!

UM - (also the "initials" of my favorite college team - University of Miami) LOVE the skirt - it's GREAT and you have WAY more patience than me!

Ok since I haven't had any bidders (:rolleyes1 ) It's the Kirkman Road Walmart that has the Minnie Dot - and It was almost the whole bolt!!!! :cheer2:

I questioned that myself, about the white pants. I knew they would get wet, on the rides, and they did, so thankfully Ireland had on white undies.
They stayed really clean, except for an incident with a run-a-way strawberry, down the front of Ms. Alexis. She was so upset, I felt bad for her. I bleach penned it this morning...but who knows...it's in the wash now...

HI!!!!
Ok...see? Higher than horizontal..."The Full Twirly" (Spongie is looking over my shoulder and says it looks like a watermelon in this picture)

The circle view....Oooohhhh Awwwww! Note the 4 layers of hand gathered, and hand sewn tulle (:headache: I could do a Trip Report just on that green tulle)

and the matching hair bow...

Just got back from Nordstom where I got the Alice mary jane CROCS...OH MY HECK, they are freaking cute! Got minnie mouse jibbitz.

Sorry the skirt wasn't all that and a bag of chips...but it's worth it to see my dd PRANCE around...which they don't do when they're teenagers. So, I'll take it!

Oh my! It's so stinkin cute! Great job Utahmomma! Hand gathered and hand sewn tulle! :scared1: You are very dedicated, I don't think I would have been patient enough to do that. Her matching hairbow is adorable. My hairbows turn out kinda funky. I have been trying to make the loopy bows and the ribbon likes to stand up straight. I have to keep pulling it around to seperate it. Kindly share how you made the adorable hairbow pretty please?:flower3:

Ohhhh! The girls look so pretty! How'd you get they're hair to stay neat all day? Norah's hair only looks done for about 5 minutes!

I absolutely love their special Sea World outfits! You did an amazing job!

I keep meaning to go there someday! I used to go to the Sea World in San Diego every year and remember I loved it.

Glad you're back!!!

In the morning, I wet their hair, just a little, and when I pull it back I use a bunch of Aqua Net, the pink and white can.
I've used other hairsprays before but they aren't kid friendly. This is the only one I can find that doesn't damage their hair, washes out easily, and if you add some glitter to their hair, before the hairspray dries, the glitter will last until you wash their hair...

Thanks for the tip Elisa!!! Glitter, we LOVE glitter!

Good morning ladies..and Tom,
Our Sea World day was a lot of fun. The girls were well behaved and we overall had a nice day. The outfits were a huge hit and we got compliments all day. The girls enjoyed the new Sesame Street show, as well as the pet show. Shamu wasn't that impressive. The show was much shorter than I remember and just wasn't that great.

When we went to Sea World last November we saw the pet show twice. The kids loved it much more than the Shamu show. I love the outfits and I'm glad they got a lot of attention wearing them. I hope the strawberry comes out!

Are you kidding ? It's just darling ! I love the tulle at the bottom and the hair bow is so cute with the little orange mickey head. There is just something about Halloween, and Fall, and the bright colors of the season. Fall is my favorite time of year. You daughter is very cute and she looks like she loves her new twirl skirt :). You just got the ultimate compliment form my four year old, I was going back to finish catching up after my post and she said " Ooooo Ooooo go back !" and when I scrolled back to your post she said " I want that !" . So see your target market thought it was awsome too ! LOL.

Um, my five year old just did the same thing! We just got home from JoAnn's and bought some Halloween fabric so hopefully I can make something as cute as UtahMomma's!

If you are not up to appliqués, then I would cut a square out of the Ariel fabric, hem the edges and iron it onto the t-shirt. The run some ric rac around the edges. I did that with one of my daughter's outfits and it came out great. I think the skirt looks adorable!

Well, I took a 5 day vacation and it's taken me 2 days to catch up on this thread! I have some pictures that I didn't get a chance to share before I left so I'll get downloading! I have so enjoyed looking at everyone's creations and have lots of ideas for future projects!

I got a pm and that reminded me I never posted pictures of the clothes I ended up taking to Disney! So, here we go :)

Brianna in the tie-dye dress I made her.. I got the instructions from this board.. it was WAY easy and you wouldn't believe the amount of compliments I got on it.

The girls in their appliqued jumpers I got from a great ebay seller

So cute! I love the matching shoes!

In their handpainted Cinderella dresses (the backs on this and the dalmation dresses were adorable too.. just don't have a picture handy!)

I don't seem to have a good picture of these in photobucket but they were ruffled mickey dresses w/ pants under them to match (which we ended up taking off because it got too hot)

and, not sure if you can tell but I got a Mickey Mouse baby carrier made to match LOL

I love this carrier! Very cute. High fives to you for having a matching baby carrier! I made one of these (not disney) once but I didn't like the way it fit me. Cute stuff, thanks for sharing your photos.

Very sweet girls! How was the weather? Hope you weren't too hot. Happy late birthday to Ireland. Those outfits are adorable.

If you have some of the ribbon left, even a scrap, you can put it in some water with a scrap of white fabric to see if there's any bleeding. I usually prewash my ribbon and other trim just to make sure it won't shrink but I've never had problems with bleeding. I think polyesters/man-made fibers usually retain dye better than natural fibers.

If the scrap does bleed, I've heard the dye magnet laundry gadgets work well for keeping loose dye from getting onto other areas or garments.

The only time I ever had trouble sewing velcro on with my sewing machine I had accidentally gotten the sticky backed kind. Now it does say don't sew it on, but I had to try because I didn't want to have to go BACK to Wal-Mart for more. It was awful...knotted up the bobbin thread & made HUGE mess.

Hmm, that could be the problem. I haven't bought it or tried to sew it in years because it always was a big hassle. I think I'll try it again, though. :)

The weather was hot, but it was overcast, so no one got sunburned.
My little hand held fan was a lifesaver, when we were waiting for the shows to start. It really helped. They are for sale at CVS and I think are about 2 dollars.

Great job on the skirt! My DD loves Ariel. I think you should cut out one of the Ariel's from the fabric you made the skirt out of and applique it to a t shirt. Your DD is adorable, I love her curly blond hair.

Ok, here is the proof that I have lost my ever loving mind. It is in the 90's today here in Florida as it has been all summer and will continue to be until October probably. So I decide to make Megan a corduroy jumper, the prefect summer outfit. I really couldn't help it: it has pink and red flowers embroidered all over it and it was 50% off. So here she is:

Also, when I was taking the pictures she was sure all of you would be interested in her first wiggly tooth, so here is a picture of that:

Oh, I meant to mention I loved UtahMomma's skirt report! I think those things all the time in my head, but they rarely end up in the post. For example, I was using my seam ripper the other day thinking how odd it was that Teresa stuck it in her thigh when I stabbed myself in the thumb with it! I was so mad and it was so hard not to get blood all over everything when you are spouting from your thumb!

Oh, I have another question. When my mother was here inspecting my creations (well, she was watching the kids while we went out of town) she insisted that I need to attend a sewing class. Has anyone done this and is it worth it? I really like puttering around and doing easy stuff, I think if I learned real techniques it would seem more like work and less fun. Opinions? Thanks!

I will give it a try.

We went to the YMCA last year thinking it would be more family oriented. Well, after the wolfman scared the *&^*&^ out of dd8, we decided that we're done!

Have you tried MNSSHP? Other than the villains, which are there all the time anyway, there's not too many scary people around.

Utah! I love love    the skirt! It's great! The 30th is an Epcot day for us, but I might have to drop in on you at THE MK to see her in all her twirly finery!

You're not crazy or at least not alone in being that kind of crazy. ;) I've already had orders for Christmas dresses! I haven't even really started on my DD's school clothes so I feel really behind. LOL

I haven't taken a class but I know many people who have and loved it. I think of classes for adults as more about learning better and more efficient ways to do things then just "the right way" to do it. Also, many places that sell sewing machines have classes so customers can learn how to use all the cool features of their new machines.

HI!!!!

Leap Frog (this wasn't a good photo session, by the way)

You have reached the more than horizontal twirl!! Tell me, is it nirvana (not the Teen Spirit kind)??? We have a leapfrog picture of Tessa in the Simba dress, too. She absolutely hates standing still while I take her picture.

hkite! you are evil! I am NOT allowed to go to that site. I went this past weekend and put a bunch of stuff in my shopping cart and then closed the window.
Heh.
That way I get to pretend like I ordered it.

How sick is it that I do that all the time? This order happened after midnight, so my good senses were already in bed.

I got my diaper/wipes cover done. Now I feel a little better after my earlier fiasco. ;)

This is a cute idea!

I've been seeing alot of cute disney flannel prints out don't you wish they had some of these prints in cotton? I can't imagine what they do with the flannel other than blankets.

I am going to post a flannel nightgown I made last night from flannel sheets below.

I come here every night to admire all the wonderful work you all do and sometimes to secretly wish my newly turned sixteen year old daughter were still little and I were creating beautiful Disney fashions for her. :sad1: They grow up much too quickly.

Your daughter is gorgeous and I LOVE that dress!!! You got me all teary-eyed thinking of my daughter growing up.

Heather, you and your sis are the sweetest!

I multi-quoted you because I was going to say that I am the sweetest, but she beat me to it. Great, er...weird minds think alike! Actually she is my BFF  I'm so lucky to have a sister like her!

Didn't you get the memo???? There is a THREE banana minimum here!

I'm going to start cracking down on the lone banana posts. Come on, what's a banana doing dancing all alone?

I live by the FIRE STATION!!!

I am dying of laughter. You are absolutely hilarious. Hey, I live next door to my Mommy and Daddy, plus we have a campground down the road. That's right, a CAMPGROUND!!!

Ok, so this isn't gonna even come CLOSE to UtahMomma's twirl skirt (NO WAY do I have patience for that one!)

Here is my version of a halter pillowcase dress

That is so cute. So is your daughter. I was thinking she looks like my niece, Arminda, then I saw that my sister said the same thing!

I vote for going to Joann's. I'd be going with you if my little Beanie wasn't sick (evolultion of Beanie- Sawyer= Soy Bean= Bean Boy= Beanie Boy= Beanie)

Also, when I was taking the pictures she was sure all of you would be interested in her first wiggly tooth, so here is a picture of that:

You tell her that I am absolutely enthralled with her wiggly tooth!
