These are the overalls for Sam and Kiley.

OMG those Minnie overalls are to die for, LOVE the ruffle butt. :goodvibes

I finally finished the Baby Simba dress for Tessa!! The dress pattern was fairly easy, but the applique gave me some fits (the white fabric kept unraveling as I sewed it onto the brown fabric). It's not perfect, but she loves it and so do I! The dress was really big (mu-mu-ish) on the top, so I shirred the back to make it fit a little better. I also skipped the zipper in the pattern because it really didn't need it. Here it is!

Now I need to catch up on your wonderful creations.

I love this!! Great job!!

:laundy:

OK I do not sew, although I have an embrodering machine collecting dust upstairs. But if any of you talented women (or men) want to get some clothes off of your hands I may be willing to help. My DD is in a 4T (hint, hint). LOL. Great work people!!! Please pm me if you have clothes for sale.

Hancock's also has simplicity patterns 5 for $5 aug 16-19th (limit 10). It says preferred customers but i'm sure you can become one instantly.

Cute! I wish I'd seen something like that when DD was in diapers. I'm definitely keeping the idea for shower gifts, though. :) My question for you is how did you sew on the hook & loop tape? I always seem to have my thread break, bunch or just can't seem to get my machine to work with it and sewing by hand is not something I do if I can avoid it. :rolleyes1

Hey...You CAN say Velcro on this board..... :lmao: I can tell your a e-bayer. Don't they say VERO instead of Velcro?

Just though I would show ya'll what I have been up to lately. I have been doing a little applique designing.

This red one is for the little guys. I also made shorts to go with it in the Pirate Map Fabric.

This one is for the 9yo and up.
BTW these were designed for Cheerbop and she collaborated on the idea...Nana

Great work everyone, I am too tired from a long day of my yard sale (see trip report if intersted) HE double hockey sticks to do a multiple post.
Utah Mama can't wait to see the skirt---you are helarious!
Heather, you and your sis are the sweetest!
Everyone else that has been affected by my brain shutdown, great work, can't wait to see more. Only 2 more days of this yard sale, it better net some booqu $ for Disney! I haven't sewed in 3 days :scared1: preparing for this stupid sale!

I come here every night to admire all the wonderful work you all do and sometimes to secretly wish my newly turned sixteen year old daughter were still little and I were creating beautiful Disney fashions for her. :sad1: They grow up much too quickly.

Today, I spent 3 hours ironing the seven layers of net under the skirt of her cotillion dress for Saturday night. No, I didn't make it, my sewing talents never extended that far. It does hang much prettier after a good pressing.

Here is my daughter, she sometimes posts here as The Dark Dancer, mostly on the teen board.

So enjoy them while they are small. it goes by so quickly. Thanks you all for sharing your work. I am sure I am just one of many who admire them all.

What a pretty girl and gown :) .

Geez, I can't even spell it!:lmao:

1. When attempting to do the "A" word, it is NOT the time to try a new type of thread.

2.Just because the manual says the machine can to the stitch does NOT mean the machine operator can:rolleyes1 :

3. When attempting to do the "A" word it is not necessary to buy YARDS of fabric for a small character.

4.When all else fails open a diet pepsi and read the disboards for a bit:banana:

5. It is not necessary to be able to do ALL types of sewing. I have lived all these years(ok not THAT many years:angel: ) without doing the "A" word, do I REALLY need to learn now?

6.See #4:rotfl:

ok I feel better now- time for round 2...........

Here are the pics of what I came home with.

So, I added it up and my little garment district excursion cost $108. That is better than I thought. I majorly splurged. We do not go often so I think it was okay! It could have been way worse!
Wow Aimee what a great trip and loverly purchases. Actually it brought back memories. I used to work at a bridal store and we went into NYC to the bridal district to buy dresses. I remember going nuts as we passed fabric stores. I go weak in the knees in the presence of bridal fabric and aloncon lace! :rotfl2: Really I can't believe you got out of there $108 lighter. Great job!! Thanks again for sneaking in the pics! :3dglasses

THANKs Nana! Ok, I'm all set with my 3 coupons and my disguise kit: red wig for coupon #2 and rubber nose/glasses/mustache for coupon #3!!!
Look out Hancock!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Evidently, y’all wear your best smarty pants when sewing. A factoid no one enlightened me on. .....

Heh heh, too exhausted to post it tonight. I kinda like it! And using my fuzzy disney math, I saved a bundle not buying on Voldemort !!! More money to hand to the Mouse in September!

Yes, I just Trip Reported my skirt!!!

This is the funniest thing I read...wanna know why???? Its all true and we have all experienced it! Thank you for putting into words what it is like to sew. And you know whats scarier...we all go back and sew more!!!! :confused3 ;)

ok everyone I know I have been MIA for awhile. school started this week. Oldest has uniforms. and Josephine, of course I made her cute little dress. it has teacher/school sayings all over it!

Lori
Lori - Terrific job on the dress and hairbows! Your girls are adorable and I know they feel so special. Mommy's love goes a long way!

Here's my latest finished projects for my DN. They are not Disney, but practice for. It's my first strip skirt and embellished jeans.
Great job! I love the outfits!
I will make sure to take care of that right away! Sorry about that!
I am going to do some editing here. I am not a rule breaker, I want to abide by the rules. Thank you for informing me!

Ollie Girl!
Angela/Ollie Girl Welcome and we can't wait to see your pics! (and copy your pics :rotfl2: )

hkite! you are evil! I am NOT allowed to go to that site. I went this past weekend and put a bunch of stuff in my shopping cart and then closed the window.
Heh.
That way I get to pretend like I ordered it.
Virual Window Shopping I call it....I can't tell you how many times I have done this!!! :rotfl:

I use stabilizer with denim. It might not be totally necessary but IMO it helps keep the finished appliqued area flatter. When I have had areas of the applique without stabilizer under it, the stitching looked slightly rippled. Also, the stabilizer seems to help the fabric slide around more easily as I turn it to follow the applique edges.

This makes a lot of sense. Now what is the stablizer called. When I go to the notion section I see fusible interfacing and heat and bond type stuff. I dont dare ask for help! :rotfl: Does the stablizer iron on???? Thanks!

See you are much better than I becuase you tried! I have not. I am big old chicken. I will have to save your steps when I try the first time. I will just replace Diet Pepsi with Coke Zero. :wizard:

Hey...You CAN say Velcro on this board..... :lmao: I can tell your a e-bayer. Don't they say VERO instead of Velcro?

Nah, that's just me. ;) I say tissues instead of Kleenex and bandages instead of Band-Aids when I'm referring to a general type of product and not the specific brand. I know, I'm odd. :goodvibes

Ok, I bought some of this for several reasons (hairbows, rhinestones, etc.) and I'm scared to use it. Reading the package it says to use in "well ventilated" area. Does that mean I should use it outside, is it going to fill my house with toxic fumes? And I think I remember Lisa making a comment about it sticking to your fingers! I'd appreciate any tips and experiences with this stuff!
:thanks:

I usually use it at the dining room table. I think you'll be ok as long as you don't use it in a really small room. If you're concerned, just open a window for a bit.

But, I would be careful about the fingers.

I found this on an internet search and wanted to share:
http://doseofinspiration.blogspot.com/2007/07/decoupaged-shoes-tutorial.html

I'll try fabric too. BTW,the example in the tute is pretty god awful but it's free.

Cool, thanks for sharing the link. I want to try this on some of DD's stained sneakers that still fit and are in decent condition otherwise. I've thought about trying the non-sew fusible with fabric and using some kind of sealer so they stay clean... or at least are less easily stained.

My Trip to NYC-

I am going to leave out all the drama. (Missing train, DD crying a lot, MIL complaining a lot, sunburnt lips, and really sore feet.) The garment district is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My MIL and her sis went to Grease. Hannah and I went to the World of Disney and ribbon shopping. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast. Hannah picked out the Sleeping Beauty gown and managed to get the purse, gloves and cape too. I still do not know how she swung that????

We had two hours to go ribbon shopping. The first shop we went to was called So Good. And it was SO GOOD! OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! I fell in love. I do not have pics but it is a hole in the wall with nothing but fantastic ribbon. (I will take pic of my new ribbon later.) He was so generous with the yardage. He said normally he give a least a yard over. (He may have been flurting with me know that I think about it. :cutie: ) He gave Hannah free yellow velvet ribbon and extra red polka dot ribbon. My total came to $67 and he just said $60. I handed him the cash and we were on our way.

Next we went to Tinsel Town Traders. They have been featured in ME Home Comp mag and Martha. They are vintage fab! I could have spent two hours just in there. We ended up buying only a vintage flower. I am going to make a pink for a sundress out of it. They had fabric that was vintage French gorgeous fabric for $200 a yard!

You could not really take photos but I snuck a flower wall pic.

tinseltowntraders001.jpg

Next we went to MJ Trims. This was a floor to ceiling warehouse of trim and ribbon. Some of it was great some was really expensive! I actually bought one yard of ribbon for $11. Very cool place. I do not know how I will ever go back to Jo Ann's or gasp Wal Mart!!!:confused3

As we were walking I noticed the Atlas. That is where everyone from Project Runway lives. We took a pic.

Next we went to Mood. That is where everyone on Project Runway shops. Two floors! For NY designer fabric I expected to be more expensive. The cheap stuff was $14 a yard and the average was $30 a yard. Hannah was pretty much spent by Mood so we searched only one floor to find polka dots. It was cool because in Mood I was treated like a designer. Everyone buying fabric were clothing designers. The girl who cut our dots thought my three year old picked a very sheik fabric. Only in NYC can you have a fashionista at three. Since it is designer fabric we only needed half a yard so my total was $5!!! Woo Hoo.

Here is my sneaky picture.

mood.jpg

As we were leaving I spotted on little store. We had about five minutes so we ran in and I found the best Epcot ribbon ever. I have to take photos to show everyone.

My girls and I would love this trip! We are huge project runway fans.
