By the way-

We booked our trip today! WoooHoooooooooooooooo!

205 days to go!

I may take the cake on this one.

We are going for 9 days. Each of our girls are bringing 23 outfits. So 46 outfits. Oh dear Lord! Eight of those are princess costumes.(Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Alice, Tink, Cinderella and Snow White) The total is 38. I do have six and a half months to complete this massive project.

I will say on our June trip we brought 44 outfits and the girls wore 43 outfits.

OK I have to know how the girls managed to wear them all! When did they change?
I am looking for tips LOL

 A great big to my sister, Heather, hkite, for shirring this for me, even though she was feeling really bad last week! I love you!!!!

Here's the Lilo dress that gave me the fits while I was trying to shirr it, modeled by my beautiful little daughter, Lydia Rose:

I did one of those little ribbon loop things on the back to help hold it all up, and I think that style looks really cute!

I mixed my characters, and used Flounder ribbon for the straps. Lydia is absolutely thrilled with the dress!

Teresajoy,
your daughter is adorable! You just reminded me I should have this fabric somewhere too :)

DH does not care if I bring the kitchen sink this time. Thank goodness for Magical Express. This time around I am not blowing huge bucks at Gymboree!!!!

Oh my! There is no way I could do that many. My sewing talent is next to non-existant so I have to pay for each one and my favorite sellers aren't cheap:confused3 . At the rate of $100 and up per outfit...:sad2:

They had a morning and an evening outfit. Since they are still young 3 and 1 they get pretty messy when the eat. Imagine 100 degree heat and mickey mouse ice cream. I hate dirty clothes photos. They also had special dresses or costumes for the princess character meals, wonderland tea party, BBB etc . . . Surprisingly they went through all of them!

Here are the basic instructions for a top like the one shown a few posts back of my Snow White set. I included some simple illustrations for steps I felt might be the most confusing. I wrote the instructions assuming the person will know how to shir fabric with elastic thread and also do other sewing techniques. I would suggest trying this the first time using fabric you're not going to really miss if your first attempt doesn't work as planned. ;)

I didn't go into details about creating an appliqued panel like I had on my Snow White set nor adding a faux corset ribbon lacing like in the photo below. If anyone wants those details, I can explain that next. LOL This version also has a ruffle at the top front that isn't described in the instructions... but it shouldn't be too hard for most to figure out. :)

THANK YOU so much for your instructions and spreading the pixie dust! I can't wait to make one of these darling tops for my DD! :flower3:

Can I just say how much I hate Rocky! Anyway . . .
Does the narrow side of the binding tape go on the right or the wrong side?
Great advice by the way!
Aimee

I don't think it matters which side you put it on, I usually put it on the right side only because I think the top stitch looks neater.

See, I told you "buy any and all Disney fabric when you see it" because you never know when you'll need or want it!!!!!!! Teresa, Lydia looks so cut in it!

Ok, I have finally finished this outfit! I had completed the jumper part a week ago and it was way too short. I knew it was going to be, but I only ordered a yard of the fabric online so I was stuck. I am the opposite of most of you, when I am up at the fabric counter I panic and yell "one yard!" DH suggested bloomers (duh, why didn't I think of that!) and here we are. I rummaged through my scrapbooking supplies and found the ribbon with polka dots on it. I looked at Teresa's bookmarks to find out how to make a bow (I am ribbon-challenged) and safety pinned it on. Thanks for looking!

Do you mean Field's Fabrics on Portage? They do seem to know more there than some. I hardly ever go to the Battle Creek Joanns, it's so far out of the way! (of the mall, that is!)
yup! I am forever calling that field's fabrics "hancock's" ... I do that with the local blockbuster & "hollywood" video, too ... I don't know why, probably because they look so much alike
There does seem to be more serious seamstresses working at that field's fabrics. :) I think it's got alot to do with that field's being next door to that viking sewing center ...
Gosh, I could not work there = I'd never ever bring home any money = just fabric & sewing accessories.

Lets talk bows for a minutes... anyone have a good source that wont break the bank. I would like a couple sets to match the girls outfits. I just dont know if I will have time to make them since we leave in 2 week:scared:

Steph, Great job! I love the bloomers--what a perfect touch! Just like Minnie herself.

Could you share a pattern for this bag? I need to make DS5 one for kindergarten!

Thanks,
Blakely

Thanks for the compliments! The pattern for the bag is McCalls 4401. It is a fat quarters pattern, but of course you wouldn't have to use them. I think it would be the perfect size for a kid, but the the cords are too long! You'll have to shorten them up a big. I can't wait to see yours!

is the IRONING!!!!!!! I have spent all morning ironing DD customs after washing. I don't like ironing, I forgot how much I disliked ironing.... now I am remembering :sad2:
I too hate to iron finished customs ...
Nowadays, I hand wash & hang dry all my customs ...
I find that that greatly lessens my need to iron everything ...
sometimes, I don't even have to iron them at all ... :)

I'm leaving in a few days...well actually 2 weeks and I don't even have my dining planned let alone their outfits. I don't know why..but I can't seem to plan anything. I was thinking of special outfits for our Ohana breakfast, but I just don't know....They do have their seaworld outfits, MGM, and I'm working on Animal Kingdom...LOL...Of course the seaworld needs elastic in the waist, MGM needs a ribbon for the neck...and of course bows...Oh my...I'd better get going...LOL

Love that sweet pose! The bloomers look great with it!

In the waiting area of Muppet Vision 3-D, there's a stack of several pink and purple trunks of Miss Piggy (my all time favorite diva!) with the label "Evening Gowns" and "More Evening Gowns"....and "Yet MORE evening gowns"!!!

I'm thinking you are going to need some trunks :rolleyes1

((not that there's anything wrong with that!))

I hate it too and usually avoid anything that can't be sprayed with Downy Wrinkle Release. I grabbed some spray starch at Target to use for ironing fabric to sew, and it's AMAZING the difference it makes! This may be well known to everyone except me, but just in case I thought I would throw the suggestion out there. :)

I love spray starch!:thumbsup2

For those of you who don't have a serger, what are you doing about the raw edges? I tried the zig-zag method and it didn't go well.

Does your machine have a coverstitch? Mine came with a foot for it, but I don't think you *need* the special foot. I just made a pair of shorts using a coverstitch for the leg and middle seams and it looks so nice and neat. My granny would be impressed. :)
