AIMEE! I just now got a few yards!!! OH NOOOO! It's perfect! AND $2.00 a yard! :love:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one project at a time;
Or cheat and buy it on "that popular auction site";
Accepting the $78.00 brother from Walmart is good enough for now
Even though I have to make ruffles by hand like a caveman...
Trusting that dd will love anything I make
or wear it anyway;
That I may be reasonably happy with each completed project
and show it off to my new friends
Even if they're WAY better
Amen.

P.S. I 'm so scared to wash the Minnie fabric! What if my white dots turn pink????Then I'll have a nifty valentine's dress!!!!
i know!!!! what did i forget to do ! get some fabric for myself:scared1: i am such a space cadet i was chanting in my head ! YOUR BABY NEEDS DIAPERS NOT RIBBONS AND PATTERNS...:rotfl:

Here's a little tid bit for ya:

Since Hancock's 99 cent Mc Calls patterns are probably picked through by now, take your Hancock ad to Walmart! The match ads!!!!! Be sure and get the specific non-excluded McCalls patterns though. Me and Spongie went tonight. I took my DH and he got 5 patterns and I got 5. This calls for a banana dance! :banana: :banana: :banana:
i came outside and my window had been violated by someones pinkish lipstick:confused3 and on the window it said :lovestruc BFF :hug: i wonder who did that:rolleyes1 well it looks like i am heading back tommorow.. for my fabric i forgot last night. i need to say the serenity prayer in my head before i go too bed..:idea: good night all
:cloud9: sweet dreams of fabric dancing in your heads and outfits to post on tommorows thread.:woohoo:

Okay, I finished the main construction of DD3 green and blue mickey camo dress. It came out very nice but, it is way to big. I will have to make some adjustments in the morning. Wait does 3:00 count as morning:scared1:

Between her ideas and mine I am doing 16 dresses. Two of these are new costumes. (Pocahontas and the blue/pink sleeping beauty.)

2 down 14 to go.

I will post pics in the morning.

I just cannot put together fabrics and pull the whole outfit together like this.

Well, I have way too many fabric choices on hand so often late at night I start pulling out some prints to try together. I used to be concerned about putting things together if they didn't match exactly in color so loved when I'd find a line of prints at the fabric store that had a variety of coordinates. I've reached a point now, though, where I try to avoid using too many prints from the same line because they match too well. I know, I'm weird. :rotfl:

Is Jo Jo appliqued? LOVE it. I so wish I had something like this last fall for my dd!

Yes, she is appliqued on the t-shirt. I dabbled in painting on jeans and tees for awhile but finally decided in December to go beyond simple shapes for applique... and wish I'd tried it sooner! Now I just wish my DD had a Disney trip in the future so she could wear all the clothes I've made for her. ;)

What did you use to embroider the jeans? I love that! Great job!:thumbsup2

Although I didn't make the outfit you are talking about, I didn't see your question answered (although I may just have missed it in the pages and pages of posts since I went to bed)! :rotfl:

They are embroidered scrapbooking stickers put out by Disney. Here is what the package looks like:

Not that they aren't cute enough, but a ruffle on the bottom would be adorable! I love making the overalls, even if they aren't perfect! And ruffles are my favorite part!

You crack me up! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I washed 5 yards of the Minnie fabric, hung it from hangers on the shower rod and all is well!! No pink dots!

Sewing prayer:
Please God, do not let me embarass my children with the clothes I sew and make them wear against their will. Hold tight the seams and do not let them come apart thus scarring my children for life until after our trip is over. And please Lord let them know what to do with the numerous bolts of material that they will inherit instead of the DVC I could have spent the money on. And lastly, do not let the fabric shrink or the color run if we are caught in a freak rain storm since I didn't remember to prewash all my fabrics. Amen

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Shhh -- my secret-- these are embroidered scrapbook stickers. I got them at Hobby Lobby -- 2 different packages.

I had those in my hand a couple of weeks ago and didn't know what to do with them! I wish I'd bought them.

Disney puts out a lot of cool embroidered scrapbooking stickers. I never thought to use them for sewing until someone had used the "Disney" one on a Minnie dot dress. Now I can tell DH that they are multi-purpose, so I have to stock up on even more. :rotfl2:

I'll have to keep that in mind if we find Mary Poppins. I may have to scraplift if you don't mind!

I'll be on the look out for the Jolee's table ware! Is the spoon made of paper?

Lift away! The utensils are metal. It has been a few years since I bought them, you can always check ebay! Good luck!
Jill

I did a quick search on ebay and didn't find the jolee's spoons, but here is an auction that would probably work.

OMG...this is just too funny (because it is so true)! I may have to paste this to my sewing machine! :rotfl:

I have a dum question for ya. I have a cheapo brother sewing machine Dh got me for my birthday a few years ago. (Apparently he is under the impression that I want expensive things and never use them! :rotfl2: ) Anyway, my question is are most sewing machine feet universal? I am always scared to go into the sewing maching part of the stores. Maybe I am afraid I will walk out with a $4000 serger or something.

The foot on mine just kind of clicks into place. I think I remember the one on my mom's having to kind of screw in. I would love a ruffler foot, some kind of clear or quilting foot for applique and a walking foot. I have no idea what that last one is but it sounds cool. :rotfl:

Oh and thanks, now I have to go back to Walmart and actually buy the Minnie dot fabric because I am scared someone is going to buy it all up! :lmao:

One more question about the scrapbook embroidered embellishments. I have a TON of them in my scrapbook stash that I'd like to use. How do you attach them? Do you sew through them? You don't just stick them on, right? I would think they would fall off? I'd like to whip those bad boys out and use them!

Don't know if this is right or not -- but I put mine on the heavy heat n bond (the one I bought by mistake for appliques). They have been on for about 6 days and I've tried to pull them off and I can't. I'm hoping they hold. I will wash the pants inside out on my hand wash cycle.

Girl - I could kiss you!!! (well, ok maybe not really ;) ) but You are a lifesaver!!!! I ran out to Hancocks and they didn't have cr-- ugh, anything left in the patterns. I'm taking you advice and heading to Wally World as soon as I can get my cranky toddler moving!!! Luckily, DH will be working late so I can also sneak in the many fabrics I bought without having an eye roll from him!

YOU ROCK!!! Not to mention you cracked me up with the prayer!!

Ladies...I gotta hand it to you...this thread is my all time favorite...because it includes my three favorite things: God, Disney, and Sewing/scrapbooking!!!! :goodvibes
I really appreciate the prayers above ;)
Does life get any better than this???? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

AgentPleakley – What a cute outfit! I’m going to try appliqué this weekend.

Tnmom and others – I haven’t started working with my tulle yet. Don’t scare me!

But last night was NOT fun.
The embroidery bobbin thread that came with the machine kept winding wrong.
I now have some of it stuck on the bobbin holder.
Eek!

Between that and threading the stupid Q foot, I was not pleased. I wanted the embroidery part to be fun! Not tedious.

I also bought some socks and I don’t think I can embroider directly on them.
Has anyone had any luck cutting out the embroidery and attaching it to something else?
Can you do it like an appliqué?

Castle – thanks for letting me know I’m not crazy, it really is as hard as it seems. My mom’s idea was bee’s wax, but I think that will be just one more step and I don’t want it to rub off on what I’m working on.
I definitely need to buy an extra pair of tweezers for my sewing kit.

And we definitely need oversewers anonymous. I can’t concentrate at work!
I’m picturing ways to do a nemo appliqué right now!

Aimee – I only bought 3 yards of the Minnie dot. And I’m scared it’s not enough! I used less than half a yard to make the skirt for Jeanie and I’ll need maybe that much to make shorts/bloomers for my outfit.
But I feel like I should go buy all of it!

Danica – I love the Pooh overalls!!

Utah and Eeyore’s Tiara – I sooo need the prayers!

I wish I lived near Utah and Spongie! But I don’t wanna move to Utah. Why don’t y’all come to Nashville? :)

I made Tammy promise to intervene last night. I am not allowed to buy any more fabric to make Jeanie clothes. She’s not even ours! I have 6 outfits lined up for her plus the costume I bought at party city for MNSSHP (it’s a Cinderella ballerina and it was only $5!).
That’s plenty for our 12 night trip.
So no more!

And I have a confession.
:eek:
I spent 19 dollars on 2 yards of fabric yesterday.
:eek:
It has celery on it.
For me to make a shirt for our DIS meet.
How dumb is that?

You girls both crack me up.
I'm now spreading the disease to my girls. I bought them jean shorts the other day and my DD7 asked me what I was going to put on them :cheer2: . I hadn't planned anything but now I might.

I'm afraid when school starts and I can get to the fabric stores by myself what will happen. It won't be pretty.

My mom is a quilter so I'll be inheriting tons of fabric from her, but no DVC, oh well, at least she buys mickey fabric for me when she sees it :love: .

I'm also thinking about sewing in my sleeping, or wishing i was asleep after my DS comes into bed with us at 1:30am. I will show my sleep creation after I get the shirt done.

All of our hancocks closed down so no ad!
wait they match ads!!!! even on sewing stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the 3 walmarts that carry fabric and nothing! none of them have seen the minnie dot!!!!!!!!!!!

YES! Sort of. If begrugingly trapsing through Walmart and being stuck entertaining kids while I quickly flip through the McCalls book "fully supporting", then heck-ya!

He even brought bolts of pirate fabric for me to see! :love:

(Have y'all SEEN the pirate sheer fabrics? OMGosh!)
