Would you please pm me this sellers info.?

Just had to show you how cute the shoes turned out. Thanks again for letting me know where to find them!

I had a little shirt and hair bows made as well (bought off ebay - I don't have a crafty bone in my body). I am also having a little Cinderella dress made as well - I'll post once I get it :)

Can you PM me too. I love those shoes!

The long awaited photos of creepy boy! He said he likes his outfit but not enough to wear in public: only at Disney. He did sleep in it tonight so I think he likes it a little (or he is humoring me). Look, I made a matching shirt for DH too!

Steph,

DS would LOVE this outfit! Where did you find the pattern?

Ok, I went and bought the pattern and fabric. Went to my friend's home with my OLD hand me down sewing machine given to dh by my MIL before we met and started to learn how to sew! I LOVED IT! I can't wait to learn more! Of course, my dear friend was tired, so she offered to finish the project for me, probably due to the fact that my machine is ANCIENT and kept messing up. My friend is pregnant and has a 20 month old and a 5 yr old running around, not to mention a 36 yr old student. :teacher: So I understand her being tired around 8 p.m. I talked to dh about getting a new machine and he said he would think about it, and my friend said we could have sewing parties. Yea! I am addicted!

As soon as I get the outfit finished, I will post it. We finished most of the shirt tonight, and I will have to do the pants at a later date.

Wow! I haven't been on for a while - darn that whole work thing - and there is so much to catch up on! Such cute outfits, everyone! Those smocked outfits are so gorgeous! I've been considering learning to smock, but I think DH may cut me off if I pick up a new hobby! Between scrapbooking and sewing, my checkbook has been hurting!

I've got a couple of new creations! One for DS and one for DD - well, not so much for DD as she is just modeling it, LOL!

Ooooh, I love everything!!
Ok...I dug around in the sewing room and actually found the Ruffler attachment thing....had it probably a decade and never used it, lol. But.....I spent a couple hours playing and I think I got it down. BUT....I can't figure out how to calculate which of the settings to use to make the pieces of the skirt fit together :lmao:

I've got Simplicity Pattern 4106...originally bought it for the blouse, but it's the skirt that I'm trying to do. Pattern pieces are simply 6 rectangles of various length, all just over 5" wide. But, the instructions don't talk about using a Ruffler of course....they tell you to do the basting stitch and pull it up to gather. But I hate that method, it's always such a pain in the butt to get the gathers evenly spread. The Ruffler is so perfectly even spaced. But do I set it on 1, 6 or 12 to get it to ruffle so that tier one fits tier two which fits tier three all the way down to tier 6?

So, does anyone use a Ruffler and care to give me a crash course in using it? Pretty please? We leave next week for a short business trip and the girls begged and I gave in, and this skirt is fish fabric and a coordinate they picked out for our trip to the Aquarium. Cute cute cute, if I can just figure out how to Ruffle.

Thank you!
Jan
I've seen a good tutorial, but I can't find it at the moment. I'll keep looking but maybe this will help for now:

Ok does "plate" = pattern...My mom use to smock a long time ago...Now I have a baby girl and I keep pushing to her to get back to it. I'm thinking if I buy these "plates" for her maybe it will encourage her.....So what exactly are plates????? Will they be useful to her? What does a smocker do with these?
I'd call her and ask her but it's late and she'd think I'd really lost it.....I'm clueless....I usually spend way too much on smocked outfits and then tell her that she NEEDS to start smocking again;)
Jenn, I've always heard the white pleated fabric with actual smocking referred to as the smocking plate.

Martha Pullen calls it an insert. Not sure what she would call the ones without the insert.

I finally found my Mickey and Minnie dot print! I only had to drive 45 minutes... I also found the other fabrics pictured as possible coordinates in a stripwork jumper. Now...I need suggestions from all you pros on how I can put them all together. Please help!

Thanks!

I love both of them! My son would go nuts over the Cars outfit. I bought some Cars fabric today to try to make a little surprise for him.

All of the shirts look great! I did see your Mickey before, but I didn't realize he was sitting on a step.

glorib - great Cars shirt! Love the applique work on it too! ka-chow! ;)
(girls outfit is cute too!!! - but the boy stuff catches my eye first, ya know...)

Yes, a plate is a pattern. It tells the smocker where to place each stitch in order to make a picture if picture smocking. These stitches are mostly cables with a buillion thrown in here and there. If it's geometric smocking, there may be several different stitches used to create a pattern.
Definitey encourage your mom to start smockiing again!!!

Didn't you just feel overwhelmed with happiness when you finally found this? I think this is my favorite of everything that I've bought. I really really like the stripe that you found A LOT! Can you post the # off your receipt or what it says on the selvage. I think I need it! If you're going to strip it use more of the Mickey & Minnie than anything else.

glorib

I love your new shirts. The appliques on your son's shirt are amazing! It's my favorite post of yours yet. I also love your dds top. What pattern did you use?

Love all the new creations!!! Keep 'em coming.... ( I am poking along right now!);)

After Stephres posted about the cargo shorts that's exactly what I thought about doing (except shorts...it'll be Dec or Jan before we need pants around here). So please don't think I was ripping off your idea. I know yours will be lots better anyway :)

My son would love that too!! I love that we're starting to see more outfits for the older boys.

It's hard to make something that they think is cool enough. This boy usually wears basketball shorts with sport t-shirts exclusively, so I am trying to change him slowly.

Steph,

DS would LOVE this outfit! Where did you find the pattern?

Hey Shannon, it's Butterick #3475 but I saw the same thing in the Simplicity and McCalls books. Butterick was on sale last week so I bought that one. It really was very easy. The hardest part was adding those stripes out of the coordinating fabric. Good luck with your outfit!

I did study the Mickey and noticed the grass over his feet. My addled brain forgot to make a comment about it. I think I was so impressed by the whole shirt and buttons and forgot.

The stripe is meant to go with the dot - it is called minnie girl stripe! SKU# 8609372. I was thinking of trying to do a stripwork dress like the mickey one that nanascustomcreations did. Hers was just beautiful. I like the dot for the bodice. Not sure about the mickey head applique and the ruffle. Should I use all of the fabrics in the skirt? Does a stripe look strange in a stripwork skirt? Any suggestions for fabric placement in the strips - do you think certain fabrics should go next to each other? I really want to get this right - the fabric was scary expensive altogether...

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I have got to do those sneakers for my dds, and those really cute tops that tie in the back. Where do you get the stuff to do the sneakers? how do you get the appliques to stick? Also who makes the pattern for the shirts for the little girls? Love Love Love them.

TIA
Lori
