Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

The dress is actually pretty straight. I'm afraid if I add the ruffle to the bottom, it will look too much like a mermaid dress. (I wore that style to my high school prom, actually!!) Do you think I should take out the blue ruffle? I also didn't want to get too "ruffle-y" with the back being so much so.

Thank you for your critiquing!!!

I may start a Tinkerbell dress for my friend's DD3. She is having a Tinkerbell b'day next month. Also, they are coming with us to WDW in November. It will be the entire family's first time! I think I will cut the dress short, though. The longer length looks so much older to me.

Utahmomma- We're gonna be at WDW the exact same dates you will be there. My DD lives in Provo and will be flying out the 22nd and coming back the 29th- maybe you'll be on the same flight that she is. I'll have to show her your pic so she can keep an eye out for ya!

Welcome to this incredibly imaginative and creative thread!

I know this has been posted before, but I thought I'd repeat it since a lot of us miss stuff on this fast-moving thread.

As I was getting my fabric cut at my local WalMart (on Shaver Rd in Portage, MI for any locals), the woman at the fabric counter told me they're probably going to close the fabric department when they turn the store into a Super WalMart. This has already happened at one of our WalMarts (Gull Rd in Kalamazoo, MI) and they're thinking of closing them all, or just scaling them back to selling "notions" and no fabric. She told me to either call corporate or e-mail corporate if I want them to keep the fabric departments open. She said to get everyone I know to do this, as it's a chain-wide issue. So, here's the info you need to keep WalMart fabric departments open:

Phone number 1-800-WALMART
E-mail corporate (it's a link on WalMart's website): http://walmartstores.com/GlobalWMStoresWeb/navigate.do?catg=221

Please call and e-mail, and encourage everyone else you know to do so! Many of us don't have any fabric stores, besides WalMart, nearby!

Thank you for this link. I am a lurker on your thread who is just learning to sew. Our Walmart is 30 minutes away and the only place in our rural area to buy fabric.

Here is what I finished today.

When DD saw it she said "is that mine" and so I just said "I don't know do you like it?"

Then she said "I love it, it's mine" and she tried to grab it and I said will you try it on and let me take a picture. She said yes.

THen she said she wouldn't take it off. I was going to pack it for our trip coming up. So she wore it out to dinner and then latter when she was getting her bath she asked me if it really was hers or was it for her cousin. :confused3 And she asked me what size it was. I told it is was really hers and it was a size six.

I thought it was so cute that she liked it so much she was worried about me giving it to her cousin. I am making a second one in size 3 to either sell or give to her cousin.

Still on my mostly fruitless search for this fabric... does anyone know the Joann's SKU# for it by chance? TIA!!!!!

I finished an outfit yesterday! I have had such a crazy summer that I haven't gotten any sewing done so it feels really good to have this outfit totally complete!

This is for my 6 year old niece, Blayke to wear on her Christmas trip to Disneyworld! I kept it pretty basic. You can't see the detail very well, but the neck and arm holes are lined with rick rack.

Thank you so much for everyone's advice on the Mickey shirt I made. I have decided to keep both sleeves black. Mostly because it would be more trouble than it is worth to change it out. I did get to try it on her and it looked great! I plan to work on her black capri's tommorrow and hopefuly post her wearing the whole outfit.

I love the Alice outfit! That takes way more talent than I have! I think the blue ruffle looks ok but will look just a good without it.

The back to school outfits look great!

Okay. It usually takes me forever to be happy with my own things. I am happy with the back... but I am considering ripping out the ruffle on the front...

(Please ignore my DD7's frizzy hair and odd expression....)

Here's the back:

And here is the front. It's the blue ruffle under the tie that I am considering ripping out...

I wouldn't change a thing. I think it looks terrific!

I finally found it an hour away from me and actually thought I was going to cry. I think I shreaked in the poor womans ear on the phone. It is definitly from JoAnns and the # on my receipt is 8609141. It's called Mickey & Minnie dot. I love it! Hope you can get it & don't forget, you can order it and use your coupon when you order. Goodluck!

I wouldn't change a thing--it is stunning. The back is to die for! I love it!

Great job! I've got to get myself some of that minnie dot fabric before it is gone!

Nice work everyone! Boy, we're all so busy!

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT! I watched it on ebay for weeks now. My DD doesn't start preschool until another year. Great find!

Does anyone know where to find this fabric????

Thanks,
Blakely

I found the chalk board fabric by google searching "unique fabric". The place I found it at is craftconn dot com. They only had about 3.5 yards left, but it stated they could possible get more. They were a little pricey at around $8/yd. That is high for me since my sewing skills are not great; I hate to ruin expensive fabric :). I wish I had a dd that could wear such a cute outfit for the first day of school. I showed DD (almost 10) and she said "Ummmmm, no":sad2: They grow up to fast!

I wanted to try adding some Mickey head appliques to some Denim shortalls.

Unfortunately, our old navy only had long overalls. Our trip is coming up and it is just too hot for overalls. They had a few shortalls but they were only baby sizes. I need size 3t.

Does anyone know where to get size 3t denim shortalls? I guess I should just try a different Old Navy. I did get DD some nice denim shorts, and a couple pairs of jeans. The shorts were only 6.99 and the jeans were only 3.99. But the shorts were a perfect fit!

Hi, Try Walmart or Target if you have one. You can always check ebay!

He will wear this for MNSSHP. Oh and we dont know how to applique, this was our first attempt so overlook the flaws please:goodvibes

That is very cute!!

I FINALLY got the buttons I ordered (over 2 weeks for them to ship/arrive) so here's the shirt - all finished!

That looks so cute!! And that is one adorable boy too! Also, Robin I think you made a wise choice in keeping the sleeves black on your Mickey shirt. It's hard to decide sometimes, but going with your first instinct works too!

It's hard to decide about that ruffle, I think it's ok and would be ok without also. Sorry, I guess I didn't help much!

I really like that! I have some of that fabric, but I'm too chicken to cut any of it until I decide for sure what I want to do!

Well , I have been a lurker on this thread for awhile now and have seen some absoulutly awsome outfits so I was inspired to try to make some customes myself (with the help of my mother-since she has a clue what shes doing on a sewing machine and I dont):lmao: So here is what we came up wit yesterday
This was before it was all the way done..

That's perfect for MNSSHP! Love the bling.

Here is the new Disney fabric I found.

Awww...what a cutie! Love the buttons.

It's not Disney but it's my new favorite ebay find!!! DD starts Kindergarten in the fall...guess what she'll be wearing?! ;) There's an apple on the one leg, can't quite see it. :(

Oh wait, DD is up from nap....she can try it on now. Yeeaa, she loves it!!
It also came with a headband in the red dot fabric, but I forgot to put it on her!

Please excuse the bed head and sleepy face!!
That's so adorable for the first day of school.

I love the back of the dress and the appliques. I love the whole dress, I just think those parts are extra beautiful :goodvibes
I think it would look more sophisticated without the ruffle. It's still pretty with it, though.

I love the rick rack. Super cute outfit!

After you posted the photoshopped Mickey sleeve, I like it better with the black. Glad you didn't change it!

I won another smocked outfit on eBay today. I didn't really want a shorts set, but I loved this smocking plate and the shorts are cute enough. If I can't stand it when it gets here, I'll take it to a seamstress and have something custom made with this smocking plate and find another for the shorts set.

Anyway, I loved that it's not the typical Cinderella scene:

I have seen this set before. I loooove Cinderella smocking plates!! My DD had a smocked Cinderella Easter dress and it was just gorgeous! Thank goodness I have a cousin that smocks for me. The pic is in the gallery.

What size did you get this one in? Sometimes shorts are better during the crawling stage because the get so cranky when they get tangled in dresses. We stopped dresses the day they started crawling and didn't start again till they were walking. I think the shorts are cute for something different.

A 3T  :rotfl:

ETA: I'm laughing at me, not you. She'll be almost 3 on our next planned trip so I'm putting it up for then. I couldn't be home when it ended and since it was a 3 I bid low ($31.00--a deal for smocking) and was surprised I won it.
