Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

Ok, girls, I *think* I'm almost done with my kiddos clothing. Can you all take a look at my pre-trip report (all of the pictures are listed there) and tell me if I need anymore clothes? I'm still working on my son's Safari overalls, sorcerer overalls (for MGM) and Stitch overalls for Ohanas. Other than that, how does everything look?

*obsessedwiththemouse* Your outfits are simply to die for! You're such and inspiration and the reason I dusted off that old sewing machine again. I simply LOVE your work! Thanks for the tips on your appliques. Though I love the look of applique, I'm a bit of perfectionist, and the thought of botched applique sends my blood pressure through the roof!

Whaddya think? (matching dark blue for DH and matching light blue for DS?

This is such a cute idea. I like this the best and I think you might actually be able to pull it off with only 1.5 yards of fabric to share among half a dozen people

Here's what the Alice set will look like: (This is not my daughter, nor my pictures, but the outfit will be the same!)

*obsessedwiththemouse* Your Alice idea has got to be my favoirte outfit posted thus far--hands down. Could you pm me the seller--if for no other reason but to see her other work. This one is a treasure. I've been toying between the idea of making dd15mos. an Alice or Tinkerbell set for some time now. I was *waiting* for someone to post an Alice idea and here it is. This isn't the style I had in mind, but I absolutely love it nonetheless. Heck, I may just have to make a Tinkerbell and Alice set (as though we'll never take another trip to DL again) Do you have any idea where to get that blue dot fabric? I love it. Polka dots are my newest obsession. If I ever get around to posting the outfits I've made for my daughter, you'll see what I mean. :thumbsup2 Also, do you have any tips for finding a good embroiderer in my area? I went to a fabric store and asked, they gave me the name of a lady. Upon calling her, she wouldn't do any Disney applique due to licensing issues. Do I just keep trying until I find somebody?? Maybe I just had bad luck the first time. Hmmmm.

I started it last night because I have no life (and it was a good excuse to avoid housework). I do have all the Minnie outfits organized though (except any that possibly got posted recently).

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for everyone. It can be so frustrating trying to find a specific outfit and have to waid through 200+ pages to find it. You're an angel!

I just emailed missingfabrics.com and normally they are able to help. I also attached a picture of the fabric.

Awww, that's so sweet of you, thank you. The whole reason I started sewing was because I couldn't STAND the thought of paying someone $200, $300, $400 for an outfit when I KNEW I could make it myself. I knew I couldn't do the princesses and the details of their applique, so I found an embroiderer who was willing to do the appliques for me. You really have to be careful because the first embroiderer was right. It IS a copyright issue. Just keep plugging away.

As for the blue dot fabric, I'm not sure which fabric you're talking about. There isn't any blue dot fabric on the Alice set. The only thing blue dot on there is the straps for the top and that is ribbon.

Happy sewing!

Oh, I also wanted to add that I am in the process of making an adorable Tinkerbell set for a sweet customer of mine. The pants are done, but the top isn't finished yet. When I get it completed, I'll take a picture and post it.

I have so many outfits already and so many more to go... I think this will be a morning outfit, once it's dirty I'll just have to change. :thumbsup2 Hmmmm....is three outfits a day too many?:rotfl2:

THE OUTFITS LOOK GOOD KARRIE! GOOD THING I WILL BE WITH YOU AT DISNEY SO I CAN SEE THEM UPCLOSE! WE CANT WAIT!! HOW MANY DAYS?????????????????????:goodvibes

For anyone who needs help finding a specific applique pattern, I stumbled on a *great* resource some time ago. I've used it a lot for scrapbooking and now I've come to see its usefulness for sewing. It's ivyjoydotcom It's a coloring book search engine and has links to nearly every character or subject you can imagine. It's a good starting point for those looking for good applique patterns.

Has anyone seen this fabric anywhere? I have got to have it!!! (the Mickey head, not the red)

The fabric is by Nordic House designs , titled "Mickey" and it's from 1996! It didn't come in different colors but people have dyed it pink & blue. I bought mine from Ebay and it's pretty hard to come across. Keep looking and you'll find it but be willing to pay $$$. I spilt mine with a friend and I'm still trying to decide if I'm dying it or what to use it for. Estate sales & garage sales would also be a good place for this kind of find.

Wow! You must really have a stash at home :rotfl:

I'm thinking white fabric, a Mickey head stamp and some black fabric paint ;)

Your idea sounds a whole lot better than paying schloads of money for some fabric. Wish I'd have thought of that before I bought it! My stash isn't too bad:rolleyes1

I've updated my very first thing I ever sewed. I turned the dress into a swing top and added knit shorts. I added the turqoise band and even did some fancy stitching! It's amazing what you learn when you read the owners manual!:woohoo: I'm going to add some swarskian (sp) crystals above Nemo for bubbles and randomly on the top too. Whatcha think?

Oh, this is super cute! I love the Nemo patch. Where did you find it?

If you can sell the outfit and make some money back, I don't see a problem paying a lot for fabric. There's a fabric I want right now that I'd pay a good bit for (and it's not Disney  ). I may have to break down and buy the outfit.

I would lke the pattern too if anyone knows.

Farbenmix has a very similar apron dress pattern. It's the *only* pattern I've seen that comes even close (and I've become pretty good at knowing my patterns lately too:rolleyes: ) If you're a little skilled at sewing, I'm sure it could be altered to a top quite easily. It's a Euro pattern with instructions in English. Remember though, Euro patterns do not add seam allowances. They must be traced first with seam allowances added for proper sizing.

That's really funny. Because I think I was just looking at that pattern today. Thanks so much! I may be going there tonight!

:) Hi ladies, I can't find the post (or page) that had the Cinderella painted canvas shoes. Can anyone help me out? I would love to order a pair for my daughter for our upcoming trip!

Thanks~

p.s. I am amazed at how talented you all are! I can't sew worth a flip and you all make it look so easy :)

Hey, does anyone have any instructions and/or tips for altering a pattern size? I'm looking at a pattern for my daughter who is only 15 mos. , but the smallest size the pattern comes in is 2. I've never done this before so any help would be *much* appreciated.
