Kids computer game

Can anyone recommend a computer game for our PC for an 8 year old boy? Preferably educational, but at least something fun. It's hard to know what to get unless you hear from someone who actually has played it. I'm no longer allowing my son to play online games, because I think it is the reason my computer recently crashed, so I wanted to get him something on a disc he could put into the computer.

any Ispy game. I teach in the summer at a school age camp (5 yo- 11yo) and its wonderful. Heck even I got busted (by the kids) playing Ispy outer space.

Check out the Zoombinis games. They
are fun but help teach logical thinking, too.
