hi - i have a questions for recent cruisers w/older kids -

my daughter is turning 13 right before our cruise - so she'll be considered a "teen" but she's still in elementary school

and my question is - would she still be able to be in the pre-teen group w/my 11 year old son -

she's very nervous because there'll be 17 year old's in the group - and there's a big difference between just turned teenagers and high schoolers

also - i've heard some pretty bad things about the older kids intimidating the younger kids

Dropping down an age level is not usually a problem so she should be fine. They will just request that she stay in that club and not request to move back up to the teen group later on.

THey can move down, but not up... BUT...... last time we cruised, my daughter was just 12 and bored out of her mind in the 10-12 year old group that ended up being primarily 10 year old boys. SHe ended up buddying up with another girl her age and doing a lot on their own.. like movies, karaoke, etc. I would have her try the teen group, and maybe she will meet up some her own age, if not, you could probably move her down, otherwise, trying to move her up to Common Grounds after friendships have been established might be tough.

last year, when I was 14 I had a blast in Common Grounds. There were 13 year olds in there that I met and had a blast talking to. however, my 12 year old cousin wanted to hang out with my twin bro and I, but they wouldnt let him. they said if he ABSOLUTELY hated the younger one, he could. but he had fun there. and about 17 year olds, they kinda ignored the younger kids. like, they hung out with us, but just were on their own. the counselors do a good job of keeping every together, and out of trouble.
